Dan Carlin's Hardcore History. Especially >Death Throes of the Republic >Wrath of the Khans >Blueprint for Armageddon >Ghosts of the Ostfront
Now hit me with a sauce.

If you like history, then Dan Carlin's Hardcore History podcast series is fucking amazing. If you want something more specific then the History of Rome by Mike Duncan is also fantastic. If you like Molymeme then his podcasts are pretty great. I wouldn't exactly recommend this while lifting, because laughing and lifting is a bad combo, but Bill Burr has a great podcast you can listen to. It's far from informative for the most part but he gives some pretty golden advice in the QnA section.

Just please dont take everything he says as a truth, (Wrath of the Khans has some very sketchy information and even some down right lies) other than that Dan is a great way to get a overview.

This, my favorite is the one about Münster Germany but I can't remember the title
Audiobooks have been my go-to for a while though

This American Life is a great podcast! I can't get enough, an episode can make you laugh, cry and think in the space of an hour. Really good stuff

I listen to biz stuff mostly. Not even looked for new stuff in like 2 years though. Probably shoulder do another trawl

I listen to podcasts. Genre-wise, I think there is something for everyone.
I enjoy Last Podcast on the Left, Mysteries Abound, and The Dollop.

I suggest getting an Audible membership and get the following >7 Habits of Highly Effective People >The Power of Habits >No Excuse!

What from it are out right lies? You're probably a Chinaboo.
History on fire is very good too.
Daniel Green
>Wrath of the Khans has some very sketchy information and even some down right lies Like what? It's pretty well-researched. What he mentions from The Secret History of the Mongols was prefaced with him saying it's a somewhat biased sourced because it's the Mongol history of themselves and their most revered figure. >Great way to get an overview I agree with this, he does have some inconsistencies for sure and it opens up the door to further research if one is interested, but I wouldn't go so for as to say "lies".
Parker Evans
Prophets of Doom. If you pirate Dan's entire catalog I'd go no further back than Apache Tears though. That's the show where his shows started to get "good" and he figured out how to podcast better. Otherwise I've appreciated his content so much that I went back and paid for all the shows I liked on his site.
Anthony Richardson
This most people who say Dan lies or some shit normally have autism. They completely ignore when he says this is from "X" source which may or may not have biases. If you start cutting out biased sources from history we might as qell not even talk about pre 1800s history its a waste of fucking time.

I have literally never listened to a podcast. Is there an app to download that has a list of them? What is the best way to go about listening to them? Please help.
Caleb Price
Download podcast (it'll be in either mp3 or ogg. FLAC seems to be a mythical creature) Your choice of media player Male to male cord to plug into headphone slot and into your car Play while driving
I'd recommend Dan Carlin's "Wrath of the Khans" as a starting point. Especially if your commute routinely hits slow traffic.
Carson Parker
Alright man, thanks for the reply. Do most podcasts cost money?
David Ortiz
What does that even mean?
Angel Wright
No. There's few "blockbuster" podcasts and many many many free ones. Standard "very small slope in the beginning....fat fucking tail at the end".
If Carlin's site is charging for WotK, pirate it. It's a great listen during a daily commute.
i also like to post unrelated and thought provoking comics

I love audio books but I can't go into that 110% EXTREME FOCUS ZONE at the gym if I listen to them, I've tried. they're great if you're doing something repetitive and boring with your hands though and can't read a real book. like shoveling snow or raking or manual labor
Bentley Thompson
why are burgers obsessed with self help books? serious question. that stuff is also on top of all the US best seller books but you in europe there's like a small shelf tucked away in the back of the store because holy fuck what kind of a loser reads self help books
Jayden Harris
short history of nearly everything is a good audiobook if you people like history stuff. it's mostly about science though but it pretty much covers everything from 1600s to modern day. both how we figured out what we know now but also contemporary theories which is nice
Daniel Smith
Really makes you think..
Andrew Sullivan
Largely because of their inability to think for themselves. So they require to be told how to do anything.

probably this. I like to think I learn a lot just by reading but it's through metaphors and examples, not because some guy is telling me to "be all I can be"

Ben Shapiro show is good for daily news/politics. It was better when the news cycle wasn't so shit. His speeches are also worth checking out.

I like listening to Common Filth, but after a while it stops pumping me up and just depresses me. I also think the cult his fans for him is creepy and weird. Now I listen to The Dick Show by Dick Masterson, and it's a lot more fun. His "YEAAH" gives me more energy than any pre-workout ever could

For being an orthodox jew, he's not much of an Israel shill. But i'm forgetting /pol/ would have us all think being a jew as well as leftist is mutually exclusive. You won't find a better conservative podcast.

How long do you guys spend in the gym anyway? I'm just a total beginner and I'm usually done in an hour or so. It didn't even occur to me yet that I could listen to anything. I'd rather not listen to shit during sets and the time inbetween seems to be a bit too short for me to listen to something.
Bentley Diaz
thanks

Personally I feel that for heavy lifting I don't like to listen to anything. It helps to just clear my head and focus on lifts. It almost becomes a meditative state. I could never listen to a podcast or something I have to pay attention to. I also hate headphones in the gym. Too hard to hear people if they're asking for a spot or if you're done with equipment. I just like when the gym has mainstream pop or classic rock in the background.
