Powerlifting competitions disagree with you. A sumo DL counts just as much as a conventional DL. Some people can DL more conventional, and some can DL more in sumo. It depends on your body (leg lenght vs torso/arm lenght)

Whenever I try to diddy heavy, I always get pain at hips.
