Veeky Forumsizens, how do you balance working out with a 10 hour job?

Veeky Forumsizens, how do you balance working out with a 10 hour job?

I just got my first engineering position and, while the money's great, I can't find the time to do workouts AND adult shit.

What do you do?

>adult shit.

welcome to the real world, being a wage slave IS adult shit. Get used to it. Oh, it also doesn't get any better from here kiddo. In fact it gets harder and harder as you age.

You don't. You also don't get a gf or a life. Cut back on your hours or waste away your youth slaving to make someone else rich. Failing to heed my advice, save up for a homegym and workout an hour before or after you get home from work.

I'm a civil engineer for a pretty big city. Doing projects for streets department.
welp suicide sounds pretty good now. at least the job benefits are nice

You should embrace it

How old are you now?

Build up and save what you can, your life is opening a new door

Welcome to the real world, you might miss being a /neet/ however you won't really mean it when you say you want to stay a /neet/

24. And thanks!

I've never been truly in-shape though, and I want to be before I turn 30 and fall into my inevitable downward spiral

No one really likes being a /neet/. It's unproductive and runs against a mans nature. However, no one likes being an underpaid, overworked slave bitch either. I wish it was easier to start a small business in Aus but they are the ones who really get fucked in the ass.

10 hours is nothing. I worked regularly be in the gym after 14 hour days in the OR, working 70-90 hours per week. 40-50 hours per week is nothing if you don't have a family and shit.

Just force your self to go you fucking puss.
Your body will get used to it. Just don't get a gf, or else you'll feel like a bigger piece of shit

10 hours a day sounds shitty bro, I'm sorry. The austists on this board will tell you to suck it up and say "welcome to the real world" because they lack empathy and enjoy complaining and one-upping people on the internet. If I were you I'd be on the lookout for another job with lighter hours and just power through till you find one. Don't forget to enjoy your life, there's more to it than work.

Wake up earlier. I wake at 6 so I can work out for at least an hour before the day starts.

Invest in a home gym. All you need is bench barbell, dumbbells and weights. The only problem is squats but I Don't have squat rack yet. Plus my job involves walk a lot so I just skip legs

This honestly
Find a job where you can work normal hours, or even better, less than 8 with decent pay

do the Millenial Shuffle senpai, wait until you get a promotion and then apply to a different company to get higher salary. roll the dice and maybe not work somewhere with shit hours. until then, you're gonna have to eat shit unless you got a rich daddy

i workout 5 days a week and work 10 hours a day. you have to commit and start to enjoy it.
it sucks sometimes but so does being tiny

I work from 730-530 every day, outside doing pretty physical labor, in all types of weather and still get my meals and training in. You gotta send it

Honestly if you're single and have the motivation it's doable. I've been doing it for four months now lifting 5-6 days a week.
My job is physically demanding too. You'll always be tired and feel sore and slightly fatigued. It's no way to live, but for me the gym is what makes me feel better after a long day at work, and you can't argue with the results of having a rock solid work ethic.

>not being the jacked 40 year old guy crushing 20 year old pussy

168 hours a week
less 58 sleep
less 10 travel
less 50 work
less 14 to eat

still 36 hours to lift and live

Idk if anyone said this yet, but get a pullup/chinup bar and some dumbbells, workout out in your office before, after or during work. You won't get shredded but it will be healthier. If you can, bike to an from work. Also, enjoy your weekends and time off. Nothing else you can do.

You guys are scaring the shit out of me with this stuff.

We ascend through sacrifice. Cut out the extraneous shit you have to, there will be time for it eventually.

I can't tell if these people are trolling. 10 hrs / day = 50 / week. What worthwhile job requires less hours than this? And how the fuck are you that lazy that you can't work out after your 9-6?

Don't forget to sleep and eat right. Worse thing you can do once you have an office job is start eating shitty and working late.

I don't know where you live but if you're in a city its an easy behavior pattern to fall into.

>10 hour job

You don't. You're now officially a workcel.

Home gym + wake up at 5 + kys

I like that last part.

I feel you man, although I'm sure you get compensated better than me. 60 hour work weeks in the Air Force doing manual labor. Shit is exhausting, I have to wake up at 3 every morning to get my workouts in before my shift because I'm too tired afterwards.

I hope coming out of this with hefty savings and the GI bill is worth it

Been there man, I have a hard job and the long drives home don't help keep me awake. You gotta find a way to always at least get a little in.

Sometimes all I can manage is 15 minutes on the elliptical or a few quick sets at the gym on the way home. Just make it happen man. Buy some dumbbells for home if you can't find a gym.

Work out at lunch/directly after work. Most big cities have gyms everywhere - find a membership that gives you access to multiple gyms

Large meal prep every weekend to save time during the week + eat clen > freeze and take to work presuming you're in an office

It becomes a routine, and like any routine it gets easier.

All up, working out & eating only takes two hours out of your day, if you can't handle 12 hours of total scheduled activity per day you must be seriously wasting your time elsewhere.

Even if your job involves extensive "relationship building and socialising" - even though it doesn't because you're an engineer - finding time to work out is not difficult.

Steroids

I take less pay to get a guarantee I'll never have to work more than 40 hours a week.

Some people can do it, but 8 hours a day just exhausts me as it is, any more and I just can't make myself go to the gym.

I've found it helps to do it first thing in the morning before work - then you still have your whole evening free, and once you get older people stop doing stuff late at night anyways so you can still be home by 8 or 9 and get to sleep early.

>9 to 6 = 10 hours
Those long work days must be getting to your head huh big guy?
