When should I start doing 3x5 on DL instead of 1x5?

I do 5x5 deadlifts since some months now instead of squatting three times a week. Don't regret it so far.

Stil the posts in this thread are somehow valid; If you're starting out just stick to the program.

Its not your 10rm if you can do 10 sets of it.

currently:
10x bar
8x 1pl8
6x 2pl8
4x 3pl8
(end warmup sets)
3x5 4.5pl8
then AMRAP dropsets down with the same intervals. usually 4 dropsets. twice a week.

It means you do 5 deadlift sets with 1 rep each with an hour rest period inbetween

How long did 4.5 pl8 take to get to? I just got to 3pl8 after a few months of lifting

It really depends on your leverages. When you have short arms, you're gonna be pretty bent over and your whole traps and lats are gonna do a lot of work and you will feel it.

Boy did I look retarded pulling 135 for 1 rep and resting for 20-30 seconds then doing my next rep. Really makes me cringe.
