i personally meal prep to save money and help meet my calorie surplus. i find chicken, rice and beans or hamburger helper is the best value for protein, quantity and calories. chicken and turkey are the cheapest forms of protein i've found.

90% of the stuff I see in mealprep threads is a chicken piece with some vegetables. Why prep that when it only takes 10 minutes to make fresh?

My point is that there are plenty of things to buy which are already prepared like vegetables spinach etc. Meat on the other hand (especialy chicken meat which is the main meat for a fit diet) benefits a lot from making it fresh right when you need it in terms of taste.

a month is really not that long for frozen food, and it all tastes the same as fresh. As war as I can tell from googling the things I freeze has no significant nutrient degradation in 1 month as well

Its my favorite meal that I just tweaked a bit by removing things that cant be frozen, so I enjoy it a lot.

8 at work/school, 8 to sleep, 1-2 to commute, 1-2 to lift. You have 5 hours left. If you have another hobby/want to socialize with friends/bone gf/study extra/work overtime you have 1-2 hours left.
You bet your ass I'm not wasting any more than 10-20 minutes daily to cook. That's like 10-20% of my free time on which at best I can prepare and eat minute rice, baked beans, chicken with salt n pepper, nuked broccoli or peas. It also implies I have the luxury to cook and eat at home every day, which should not be the case for an active healthy 20-30s adult male. Fuck that noise. Instead, I'll invest 1-2 hours on Sunday to cook delicious, semi luxurious meals which I can freeze, wake up on time and not 30' early just to cook every day, put in bag, nuke and enjoy during lunch break

bullshit, there is no difference between the taste of frozen and fresh spinach, rice, raw chicken or beans when properly stored. The beans may be a bit more mashed sometimes, so if you like them firm its a problem, but other than that there's no difference. Some foods cant be frozen and stay the same, but your basic bean/rice/chickenmeal contains none of them.

Or could just buy some if I don't feel like it. My bad but still, our definitions of tasty differ. For me, it has to have sauteed onions, garlic and peppers which takes 5 minutes minimum. The only thing I can think of to make it tastier in under 1 minute is tossing in store bought salsa or garlic powder, which is neither a sign of a good cook nor tasty enough

dont know about onions since I dont use them, but I add a chili, garlic and parsley blend stored in olive oil I make in big batches, then add that with some turmeric and other spices and let it heat up for just a couple of seconds before putting it in the chicken.
