Why go to the gym if you can just buy your own equipment?

Why go to the gym if you can just buy your own equipment?

Small appartments here in Arstotzka.

Because you may not have a place to put the equipment. A lot of people do not own homes/property and have to live in apartments.

You can actually makeshift equipment but results of your training will vary since you'll be squatting books in a backpack and benching bags of water etc.

>Why go to the gym if you can just buy your own equipment?
I cant. Poorfag here

No grils at the home gym

Lack of space. Fucking expensive I use a fair amount of equipment at the gym. Don't have to worry about maintenance or cleaning. Gives some kind of social interaction.

No grills confirmed.

>going to the gym for girls
never gonna make it

Why go to school when you can buy the books?

>buy the books?
more like
>why go to school when you can find information on the internet for free

Because other than buying groceries or getting my hair cut, I need another reason to leave my apartment.

It's not like you were going to talk to them anyway

makeshift isn't a verb lol

I do workout at home. But most people don't because lack of space. Luckily, renting a duplex with four people, I get the downstairs living room to myself because we haven't used it since we've moved in. Set up my bench and shit down there. It's great.

It's also expensive. I only have a bench, bars and weights because I got lucky and got it from a guy that was just trying to get rid of the shit so he could move.

I used to have a home gym, i gotta say lifting in a nice gym is way more fun

sweet indie game reference on the steroids board of a paraguayan branch of a vietnamese visual effects website xD

it can be you coconut

>benching bags of water

I legit made several good friends at the gym.

>not wanting that extra surge of test you get when a qt gets on the bench next to you

1000$ home gym vs 10$ a month gym membership

If I moved in with some bros (n-no homo) who wanted to pitch in a couple hundred each I'd definitely go the home gym route though

>10$ a month gym membership

No gym is that cheap

Not cost-effective for the average Veeky Forums faggot, who will lift for *maybe* a year at most (more like 3 months), before either getting bored, or getting discouraged, and quitting.

20$*

same reasoning applies

Maybe not in burgistan.

In the NL there's a pretty damn good $18/m chain gym that has everything you'll need + accessible locations all over the country

You should ask the questions that matter:
Can you lift naked in a gym? (Once you have squatted with only a t-shirt on to keep the bar from sliding on your sweaty back, you will never want to go back)
Can you play your music loud without any earphones?
Can you lift on any time of the day?
How long do you have to wait for the squat rack to be free?
How many more old ball sacks can you stand to see in the lockerroom?
....

The only downside of lifting at home is that you miss out on meeting some interesting people and qtπ's.

The cheapest gym in my area is $50 lmao.

And even at that jew price, in 3 years time you'll have paid enough rent to your gym landlord that you could have bought a used gym setup that would last you 30 years.

Keep sharing equipment with sweaty pajeets and paying another man to use his weights while i lift in my boxers at any hour of the day and blast my favorite music.

>went to my local gym for 4 years, did kung fu wushu twice a week and cardio once a week
>had a fight with my kung fu trainer
>expelled by local gym
>found a gym 15km away, next town.
> had a fight with the owner. Expelled
>found a gym 25 km away
>nope

I live in a small apartement. I bought a bench, dumbbells and ab wheel. I go running outside once a week in spring-summer-autumn. I feel better now.

because a decent home gym costs 10 years of gym membership, plus cleaning and maintenance are on you

btw only a sad sod stays in the same city for 10+ years but maybe being an old fart is your ultimate goal

>in 3 years time [at $18/m] you'll have paid enough rent to your gym landlord that you could have bought a used gym setup that would last you 30 years
you have no idea what you're talking about.

>Can you lift naked in a gym?
I wouldn't lift naked in my home as well in all honesty.
>Can you play your music loud without any earphones?
I don't care about music.
>Can you lift on any time of the day?
Yes.
>How long do you have to wait for the squat rack to be free?
Usually zero minutes.
>How many more old ball sacks can you stand to see in the lockerroom?
Stop staring at balls.

You should stop fighting with people around you sometimes

Honestly if more people did this we would save so much money

Why even gym at all? Bodyweight is free and someone who does it for a couple of years will look infinitely better than someone who does free weights.

You hit more muscles and dont just balloon in the main ones.

this

i spent 2k on squat rack bench 2 quality bars and some weights

blasting heavy ass music and pulling heavy ass weights in my garage while screaming like retard and headbanging

fuck commercial gyms

>Bodyweight is free and someone who does it for a couple of years will look infinitely better than someone who does free weights.
Sadly some fat teens will keep doing pushups in their momma's living room believing this shit

No, bodyweight training is not efficient in bodybuilding as free weights training, not in the slightest. It's at most complimentary

Don't believe this faggot, hit the gym now.

The gallons hold 5-10l of water, translating to 10-20 pounds each
The handle is frail and can snap itself, let alone when constantly being held up and down

>you have no idea what youre talking about

Not an argument. I bought a half rack, 400lbs in plates, adjustable bench, 45lb barbell, ez-bar and rubber floormats on craigslist for $600.

Your local pricing may vary but the point is you can buy used equipment that will last forever for the cost of a few years at a cheap gym (or one year at a good gym). You're missing the point because you're a retard.

dropping 600-1000$ on something right now vs paying 600-1000$ over a couple years time are not equivalent

Hello there.

>2k
vs
>$18/mo

2000/(18*12)=9.25 years of gym membership. For an used bench used in gonzo gay porn, some unnamed squat rack and some weights.

>I bought a half rack, 400lbs in plates, adjustable bench, 45lb barbell, ez-bar and rubber floormats on craigslist for $600.
Sure you did. Enjoy your guillotine. Plus the cleaning and the maintenance.

Unless you're investing the money in your checking account that you use to pay for a gym membership it literally is the same

My rack was made in the USA, i cleaned it once and it will look and work the same way it does now in 30 years. I guarantee you the equipment you use at your $18/month gym is gook-made garbage.

>i cleaned it once

Are you saying you dont regularly clean your equipment?

>My rack was made in the USA, i cleaned it once and it will look and work the same way it does now in 30 years
In 30 years you won't be here any more sadly.
>I guarantee you the equipment you use at your $18/month gym is gook-made garbage.
I guarantee you that my 19 €/mo gym (I'm not the kiwi who posted earlier) is using only Technogym or Made in Deutschland equipment. And I can train all over Yuropoor.

>Why go to the gym if you can just buy your own equipment?
No up keep
more space at my house
has pool
has hot tub
has sauna
meet other people with similar interests
is cheap
is 2 miles from my house
open almost 24h
more selection of equipment
free showers
free peak at old man dicks walking around the locker room to compare myself to
has tanning
get mires from old hags that are amazed at weighted dips because they use the assist to negate their own body weight

>guys.. guys listen i dont ever have to leave the house i dont ever have to converse with any other humans this is great i swear

>kiwi
my bad, he was a fellow yuro from NL ( ), I was lead to think he was in NZ given that he posted the gym fee in $.
Probably we're going to the same gym chain.

I don't have a house yet. Give it 2 years

Why go to the gym if you can just order your gains online?

10 Fitness' entire business model is based on this. Planet fitness has a 10 dollar option also.

Why would i need to regularly clean a piece of metal in my basement that my barbell rests on?

You seem to have an awful lot invested in defending your gymcuck lifestyle. Enjoy sharing equipment with pajeets and renting another man's equipment because youre too poor and stupid to buy your own. Not my place to judge :^)

what's it called

I bought a squat cage, bars, bench, and 400 pounds of weights on Craigslist for $150. It's lasted seven years so far, will easy last the rest of my life.

dont say that! im sure with your healthy life style you'll live much longer than that

No, you misunderstand. I didn't mean to imply my lifespan will be short. My intention was to convey the idea that my equipment is well made and will last at least 50 more years, if cared for properly.

But the misunderstanding is comical.

>You seem to have an awful lot invested in defending your gymcuck lifestyle.
You're the one seemingly interested in defending your silly choices.
>Enjoy sharing equipment with pajeets and renting another man's equipment because youre too poor and stupid to buy your own. Not my place to judge :^)
No pajeets around me; but it's funny to read something like this from someone who bought used equipments for allegedly 1/12 of its value from someone who's probably a gay nigger with scat and gym fetishes.
Jokes aside, it's unwise to use a guillotine rack bought for that price. Not my place to judge :^) Live fast die young my brother.

I don't doubt it will outlive you.

Surely you doubt it somewhat. Even a little.

Poorfag can afford memberships to gyms???

Plus good help you if the water starts to slush around when benching. Shit gets real hard real fucken fast.

>No, bodyweight training is not efficient in bodybuilding as free weights training, not in the slightest. It's at most complimentary
Except it objectively is. Anyone who does a proper program will get ripped and look better than anyone lifting weights.

A place to do pull ups, dips and a weight vest or just chains and you'll look better in a few years than any bodybuilder

Sorry you still look lile shit and fell for the freeweight meme.

Yeah no. Go look at the top bodyweight guys then the top heavy lifters. The bodyweight guys look better.

>inb4 ma biggest muscles is da best
Nope. People like the fight club body and bodyweight gives you that not weights.

>Nope. People like the fight club body and bodyweight gives you that not weights.
I know you are baiting but just a reminder: had Brad Pitt been jacked, that'd be lauded as the ideal physique as well.

Hahahahahaha that fucking face

My god i havent laughed this hard in weeks

I have a Weider Pro 9735 and dumbbells up to fifty pounds. There is some other equipment I would like. One of those bike stands would be cool. Where you can ride a street bike indoors with the computer simulation of hills and what not.
I like working out at home very early in the morning - 2 or 3 am.

WHY BUY VEGETABLES WHEN YOU CAN JUST FARM YOUR OWN BRO.........

>Yeah no. Go look at the top bodyweight guys then the top heavy lifters. The bodyweight guys look better.
If you believe that those "bodyweight guys" are just doing bodyweight exercises, you're a goon.

Keep doing master jedi exercises for hours to end in your momma's living room, but please don't scam other people who want to get fit.

>have a bench with adjustable rack, a barbell, 200kg worth of weights, 2 adjustable dumbbells, a pullup bar, makeshift wrist roller
>costed me little over $250, all used
i can do literally everything i would do in a commercial gym. keep paying (((them))) to allow you to train in a gym where you have to wait for equipment while ke$ha is blasting from the speaker, suckers

pity the saturation is off on the PS

...

My gym is $10 a month

gay

I go to a gym in my community centre for 100$ a year

Both would be best of course.

A gym with a tennis court and different classes or whatever you call them, hot yoga etc... and a pool but then also a home gym....

Basic fit

I prefer the gym environment and the social aspect of it as well

Why get a library card when you can just buy books on amazon/pirate them?

1. Money
2. Meet people who can tell you what to do next
3. Make friends
4. Have a dedicated physical place that is only used for that activity (your brain works this way, it's why you shouldn't use your bed for anything but fucking and sleeping)

You don't mean basicfit right?

europoor country here approximately 3$ a month

>Olympus gym down the street from me
>fully stacked
>$9.99/mo
>starting/stopping is easy as fuck

But before I found it, I had bought home gym equip. So I'm taking my time with it, will move into actual in the future; once I max out home gym equip--and/or it becomes dangerous to do solo.

Owning a lot of heavy weights is not necessarily a good thing if you don't have a lot of space since you have to store them. I don't have enough space in the room I rent for a curl rack.

planet fitness is not a gym. they have no Olympic bar, power rack, pull up bar, etc... It is a subscription mill for meme fitness and low motivation land whales. and pizza night? ducking really?

There are gyms as low as $10 a month???

Because you meet cool people at the gym

My gym has 4 power racks, 3 squat racks, 4 bench presses, a couple of decline bench presses, a couple of incline bench presses, and a shit load of other space and equipment for $15 a month (used to be $10 a month with deal).

Good changes in the gym industry.

I've thought about doing this cause in to broke to buy more pl8's for my bar.
The whole water sloshing around and moving a lot while squatting makes me think I'll die doing it though.

Anything can be a verb if you conjugate it

Anything
Anythings
Anythinged
Has anythingen
Etc

Some gym equipment takes a lot of space or is too expensive.
Some gyms have swimming pools.
Some gyms have saunas, bubble and turkish baths and cold water pools which people rarely have in their homes.
Most gyms have training staff and or sport medics.
Some people like to socialize or go with his friends there.

etc.

That's a screaming deal tho desu

Calisthenics is slower mass gains and it's harder to isolate certain muscles for aesthetics. As well, it's hard to put on a bunch of weight on some exercises like the squat.

Pullup bar and weight vest is enough for you to improve your general fitness for a few years though if you know what you're doing. Just don't fall for meme programs where you're doing hundreds of reps. The most you should do in a set is like 40 when starting out and eventually you'll almost never do more than 20 reps at one time.

I got squat rack bench oly bar 2x all weights and some assorted meme shit for 50 bucks from craigslist

Brother was so disappointed when black guy walked out to the car

>black people never have nice shit

What was odd is weights were scattered around yard

Because I like working out with other people?

This. Pushed myself too hard today because a fat assed 4/10 half-fledged cougar benching 10's evoked thoughts of semi-consentual sex during my weighted pullpups.

I've made friends with some people at my gym and I enjoy the feeling of competition that I get when training with them. Furthermore, I like the change of location as it makes it easy for me to switch from an at home and relaxing mindset to a training mindset (I swear to god this actually helps). Finally, there are a lot of qts and milfs who go to my gym so the scenery is better, and Mark Bell occasionally shows up too, which probably won't happen in a home gym.

the only place in my house, which happens to be a fucking perfect place to build a homy gym, has a low af ceiling

no OHP allowed and Im not sure if I could squat with 20kg plates

>belonging to the serf class instead of landowner class

WEW LAD

Gonna be hard making it when you have to till fields and skutch wheat all day

might as well just do pushups if you're even considering planet fitness to be a gym

quit handling your life like you're playing pokemon, god damn.

fag

If you can wait you can usually get free weights online from people just wanting to get rid of shit I got a free bench press and lat pull down machine and a fuck load of 5kg and 2.5kg plates for nothing

Because I live in Rome and my apartment is too small

You fags jealous?

10/10 power outlet
