I would tell myself to start getting fit sooner. I should've gotten fit around the beginning of college, not just starting to get fit towards the end. Could've had so many more opportunities to get laid.

Not retracting my shoulders all the way back and doing too much barbell bench.
For the longest time my front delts were way overdeveloped but my chest still looked like shit.
I've managed to fix the imbalance but my front delts are still the thing people are drawn to first when they see me.
I want my pecs to make everyone jelly not my delts.
Also I have a bit of scoliosis and it's resulted in my right pec sticking out further than my left, even though they are just as strong.
If I did more dumbbell bench in the beginning I'm sure I could have gotten a better start at balancing my chest.

Don't waste your time on the machines (except for the lat & row cables), start doing compound lifts. Nothing shameful in not lifting heavy as a newbie.

Lift thrice a week, play a sport regularly for the cardio. Don't drink or smoke cigs, they'll slow you down

Diet is easily the most important part of fitness. You can't just "work harder in the gym". You fucking swallow that egg white and spinach omelette, that baked whitefish and asparagus, that kale, quinoa and lemon chicken... it makes such a fucking difference.

1. Don’t bother with supplements
2. Fitness is more than just biceps and bench-presses - Don’t neglect your heart/cardio.
3. You probably don’t need as much protein as you think you do to build muscle.
4. Much of what you read, see on youtube, or are told by others around the gym when it comes to nutrition, programs, muscle growth, etc. is incorrect but passed around like fact.
5. Consider making fruit and vegetables a large part of your diet. Not saying become a vegan but don’t neglect the nutrients you get from these sources and their impact on your health and in preventing disease.
6. Don’t make yourself unhealthy trying to become healthy. Crash diets, starvation, questionable fat burners, etc.

EAT

Nobody (outside a small group of people) care how much you lift, or how huge you are. Girls just want a guy with low bf and a decent body that people in the fitness community would call DYEL.

Some of the things I'd tell me then are some of what I'd tell my kids if I ever have any.
