Who would win in a battle, the Bismarck (ship) with full crew and full ammunition, or the the entire British fleet's when it was at it's strongest (ship of the line/ man of war era only)

What should the Bismarck need to do to survive as long as possible, and what would be the British fleet's best bet at taking down the Bismarck

British when Bismarck runs out of ammunition.

>What should the Bismarck need to do to survive as long as possible

Outrun the British fleet with its superior engines

>and what would be the British fleet's best bet at taking down the Bismarck

Royal Marines since we all know Germans can't fight for shit except against the French, hordes of poorly-armed Slavs, and defenseless Jewish schoolgirls in attics.

But if the Brits board the ship wouldn't the marines be in narrow corridors with long muskets/flintlock pistols that can only fire once before reloading while the Germans would have submachine guns?

we've had a similar thread before

the sailing ships could not hope to threaten the bismarck, that was the whole point of developing battleships in the first place. we're talking a max speed of 8 knots vs 30 knots and a range of one mile vs 25 miles.

the only hope the sailing ships have is to survive long enough to board the bismarck when she runs out of fuel, but since we're only talking about 300-500 ships it seems unlikely

the bismarck held more than 1000 shells so ammo would not be a problem

The Bismark's guns would be largely ineffective for the simple reason that they'd over-penetrate like crazy. However, it would easily be able to ram any wooden ship to death.

the royal navy feared the chad bismarck so much so that they never engaged it in combat and sent the chad RAF to deal with it

Wouldn't AA guns shred the ships?

Germans are gonna run out of ammo for SMGs too.

Also, they'd have zero experience in repelling boarders, whereas the Royal Marines would've done it dozens of times.

8.8 cm flak guns would, the 20mm cannon though? Probably would do damage, but not sink them.

HE shells

Would probably still over-penetrate.

they could probably figure it out since they'd have so much time, just get a couple of guys in the workshop to tinker with the fuses and make them detonate on impact

Let's say in this situation the Bismarck randomly encountered the fleet and didn't make any modifications

even then see they could just sail away, stay 2 miles ahead of the fleet and engage at their leisure

Would the shells slow down enough from that distance to do substantial damage though?

It would be better to save the 15-inch shells for attacking coastal targets and use 6-inch shells from the secondary battery to fight other ships.

i'm saying the bismarck could escape any random encounter no problem. they could figure out any technical difficulties during the battle because the sailing ships cannot touch them. If it takes them a week of tinkering with the shells and dialling in the right range, fuses, loads etc they can do that even after the battle starts. they have plenty of ammo and the sailing ships cannot ever possibly get within range to fire.

That's true but the inside would be completely different from any wooden ship. It'll be a giant maze.

Should I do similar threads?

Perhaps the Brits could send out hundred of fully loaded life boats and the Bismarck wouldn't be able to fire at a fast enough rate to take them all out.

Aim below the water line.
