seriously how the fuck are we not all doing this yet? Sure the evidence is new, and there arent really any meta's/reviews yet, but all of the evidence is mechanically backed up and researches keep pumping out like crazy.

I tried Intermittent Fasting for a while and I have to say it really worked for me. I appreciated food much more, had less chances of gorging on junk because I needed to relish my meals, I drank more water and when I was not eating like a bull for a bulk, I lost 3 lbs in two weeks just by restricting eating times. Sounds pretty good in theory.

Heard it has adverse effects on women, though, that it screws with their menstrual cycle and stuff. is that true?

Hmm, interesting, i cant imagine why it would be like that. From and evolutionary POV it would make sense that women are also perfectly capable of having periods of no food. My gf does IF quite often, buts shes got a coil so her cycle doesnt make sense anyway, cant tell wether the IF has influence on it.

As far as i read now, missed periods isnt caused by the period of non eating, but rather by the fact that they dont eat enough. When you eat only 1 or 2 meals a day the chances of deficiencies obviously become much larger.

I did 3 days. Make sure you get your electrolytes. You can die if you don't. Also I still took vitamins, fish oil, and some Mct oil to help adjust.

Drank about a gallon of water each day on both. Did a little research and found that supplementing sodium can help. Before you do this ask your doctor too. They will probably tell you its stupid but just ask them if you are physically fit to do it.

I do IF a couple of days a week, i dont tend to stress about windows, i just dont eat breakfast or lunch and than i eat from dinner up until i go to bed. I also try to do more prolonged fasting. Just did my first 36 hour fast, which went great. I guess i want to do atleast 1 prolonged fast a month, and try to push it to around 50 hours. I also want to try doing a fast for longer than 3 days to get the immune system reset and my body to properly clean up scar tissue etc. But i havents tried all that yet.

Untrained people lost 5% of their muscle mass with 2 weeks of fasting. 5% is a huge number in untrained individuals.
It doesnt not give less flabby skin, and the hormonal benefit may not apply to trained individuals, who already get a bigger hormonal response from training.

The issue here isis that the studies are done on normal, sedentary people. Even hot sauna will look like aaddiction wonderdrug on people who doesnt experience proper stress. You can make anything look awesome if you dont compare it to anything.

I regularly get 2-3 days like this. Using it now to correct from a 5-day vacation binge (I was hiking/swimming several hours a day so it wasn't too bad on net calories.) Also helps to sexualise the hunger pangs and/or have some interesting work to distract yourself. If I'm working on something I don't even notice that I'm hungry.

Fasting is the only way to purge the sugar cravings after eating shit like donuts or ice cream. After a fast I lose all cravings.

your going to want to stimulate your muscles enough to tell your body to preserve muscle mass. For this I found that bodyweight training or 5x12 very light weight for a few exercises. don't push yourself, you shouldn't be breaking a sweat even.
