It is. Sure, it depends on what you define "walk".
Walk around the block or to the nearest bar for a couple of beers? No.
Walk for at least 1.5 hours 3 times a week (better on trails, leash free) and occasionally some hiking of 3+ hours uphill? Or maybe jogging for muh cardio? Yes.
My GS gave me a lot of motivation while cutting from 240 to 180 and counting, also that's the life a dog deserve, not always being recluded at home or worse in the garden.
