Pz.III and Pz.IV were pretty excellent tanks. The Russians used captured Pz.IIIs as command tanks due to the nice roomy turrets

Late model Pz.IVs were superior to tanks like the Sherman - better armor, better gun.

The "best" tank really depend on the specific period. In 1939 the best tank in the world was probably something like the Polish 7TP or the Czech Lt vz.38 (which became the pz.38(t) after the Germans took over the factory)

The early Pz.IIIs and Pz.IVs variants had really poor armor compared to these polish and czech tanks, as well as much worse guns than the 7TP.

If you discount things like production and equipment maybe but considering how central they were to the war and how armies operated it's a pretty useless counterfactual.

Sherman didn't even exist when Pz. IV was first used in combat. When shermans first appeared in europe, they were vastly inferior to the Pz. IV.

The Sherman 76 was ok weapon-wise, still vastly inferior armor wise, and the 76s were essentially not around to have any effect - being finally introduced in July 1944.

"Deliveries of the 76-mm armed tanks lagged such that by January 1945 they made up only 25% of the tanks in Europe" By that time you're dealing mostly with Panthers anyway which completely outclassed the Sherman (albeit being a difficult tank to use and the shitty bottom-of-the-barrel german crews meant it was usually shot in the side in a retarded position)

Not really. Side armor was always lacking, especially compared to the Matilda, Valentine or T-34. Front armor was average for a medium tank, nothing special. Pz.IV variants that met the Sherman had much better front (and side) armor. Not sure where you're gettin this information from my friend. Don't trust world of tanks or whatever game you're playing.

M4A2 usually has a short barrel 75mm. Its not until later in the war they get upgraded:
"The first 76-mm-armed Shermans started to reach Red Army units in late summer 1944."
