What's the best and worst thing about your gym, Veeky Forums?

What's the best and worst thing about your gym, Veeky Forums?

They like blasting coon-toons over the speakers most days.

Best: gym patrons subconsciously encourage and expect you to do your best
Worst: Under-maintained restrooms, occasional people stealing your bench while you're looking for weights, FUCKING PACK OF TEENAGERS HOGGING A MACHINE FOR HOURS

Best: cheap, 24/7, without engagement
Worst: low ceiling, have to do my overhead press seated, kind of small

Best: Literally in my apartment building. Has just the kind of shit I want to use. Dirt fucking cheap.
Worst: Loud and clueless Indians there most of the time. More often than not if they don't work out in groups the solo lifters will bring a friend along for reasons I can't begin to understand. Their friend won't spot them or anything. They'll just talk between sets. And Indian is such an obnoxious language to listen to.

I used to have an apartment gym, go at midnight bro. Should be a graveyard.

My Uni gym
>Best
The abundance of squat racks and Dumbells+plates+equipment often allows me to rarely ever wait, barring exceptionally packed days

>Worst
DYEL Poo in Loos and bullshit demands like more women's only hours.

>small. No staff usually. Can play your own music
>small, other people play shit music.

It locks entrance at 22 I think. And even then my schedule doesn't let me lift that late.

Goodlife fitness
best:
open 24 hrs most days, and my gf volunteers there so I get in for free

worst:
it's crowded as fuck often, to the point where you can't even get a squat rack, and there are like 6 there. Also they often try to get you to refer people, even after I've referred all of the 2 people that I talk to in my life and neither of them is interested.

Best: Only $25/mo, less than 5 minute walk from home
Worst: Not enough equipment, gets way too crowded during peak hours, sometimes has to close randomly cause the electrical goes out

Best: high quality equipment, nice part of town so hot girls, private 1 person restrooms with a shower
Worst: $40/mo with 18mo contract, not that big, gets packed with like 25ppl in it

best: p small but not that many people use the weights anyway so it's comfy, not many people use the squat racks, most of the people there are sensible despite the gym being commercial, has a good amount of equipment

worst: hexagonal plates, have to make a ghetto dl platform with yoga mats, no really strong husbandos

My uni gym
Best
>comfy and usually empty
>sometimes they don't play music
Worst
>small, doesn't have some equipment

>best
Upgraded all of the equipment and my membership prices stayed the same.
>worst
Water from their fountains taste like ass.

bucko, its "coon-tunes"
Boondocks is coon-toons

University Gym

Best:
>Great airflow
>good, open storage
>brand new basketball courts

Bad:
>1 lat pulldown machine for 18000 undergrads
>replaced all the machinery with new machines that fucking blow
>gets crazy crowded during school
>showers/lockers are disgusting
>sauna is broken

>best
Free lockers
Free facial and body towels
individual showers
Pool, sauna
Equipment always available and lots of it

>worst
expensive
People still dont know how to return weights to the rack, towels everyfuckingwhere

best
>small gym
>only 6 people go there
>only 2 chicks
>2 dudes who bodybuild
>an old man who does leg curls all day
>only 15$
bad
>gymbros sometimes start wars and attack everyone with the straps
>shitty music
>the owner looks like RIPtoes

Bad
>expensive af, $69/month
>benches suck ass, they're almost on the ground and they're too narrow
>squat racks are also the platforms
Good
>24 hours
>lots of equipment
>minty steam room, a sauna and pool
>the people there are chill af
>qt3.14 Asian chick I think is a powerlifter

All these people valuing personal showers

Is the human form scary to you?
Are you diseased?

>best
open every day of the year, except christmas and new year
>worst
open only from 9-12 and 15-21 on weekdays, 10-14 on weekends and 10-12 on holidays

>Deployment Gym
Best
>Small AO, not many people lift
>Work nights, gym is dead and can lift for 2+ hours alone
>Free protein= all aboard the gain train
>There's a stray cat that hangs out in the gym, always cool to watch him piss others off

Worst
>Limited equipment, standing there like a faggot when nothing available
>Local skellies trying to make durka gains always smell like shit and halal
>can never find two of the same plates, either in kg or lbs, look dyel when 20kg on one side and 45lbs on the other
>Stray cat gets in the way by lying on bench or sitting on dumbells I need
>no mirrors, can't mire or check form

The worst thing about my gym is the dyel faggot who goes there every day

But I guess thats just home gyms for you.

Best: open 24/7, often empty, clean as fuck
Worst: 30/month, no dedicated bench press

Best: no one uses the squat rack besides me and a couple others
worst: to many obnoxious and weak high school kids

Best:
>Cheap and well located (Its actually funny since there are a lot of gyms in town, but pretty much everyone I know signed up for that one)
>The music only plays in the cardio zone
>Most of the gym service staff is nice and will check your form/spot you if you need.

Cons:
>Only one squat rack, one bench and one incline bench. Also, there's no Smith machine, so everyone uses the squat rack.
>Not enough bumper plates.
>Some PTs "forget" to rack the weights once they are done.

>women's only hours
what?

Best thing:
>have all the weightlifting equipment one could need, multiple benches and squat racks

Worst thing:
>Literally every treadmill is in some way broken, none have been fixed in the year I have been going there

Lanklets, when will they learn?

>pros
>it has equipment that I want to use
>is cheap

>cons
>i have low standards
>it's a PF
>leftmost stairclimber is always in metric and rightmost is always making noises like it's broken, no matter where I go.
Three different states, it's almost like a corporate policy.

It's a feminist thing. They claim women can't work out without being sexually harassed so they demand women's-only hours. So now some gyms, especially those at universities, are having women's-only hours where men are banned from working out.
It's okay, because you can't be sexist against men!

>his gym doesn't have women's-only hours to protect female gymgoers from the Patriarchy
It's 2017 user

He literally did learn.
He did them seated.

My apartment gym has a treadmill and a bike. I can't run and the bike has been broken for months

Best:
>The owner is a friend of mine, so i go there for free
>It's always empty (6 people max)
>It's literally 4 houses away
Worst:
>It has the bare minimum equipment
>My city is damn hot and there isn't even a single fan
>It's really small

Best thing is that it is 10 mins walk away, worst is that they have few free weights and they are qlways crowded.

Pros
- Cheap as fuck ($25 per month)
- Usually not crowded at all (even at 6 PM on certain weeknights)
- Most people are nice with the exception of a few people that like to occupy multiple pieces of equipment and get mad when others take them

Cons
- Almost no one re racks weights
- Only one leg press and power rack
- Only 7 benches (3 flat, 2 incline, 2 decline)
- Loud rap music whenever it's busy

Worst: One 1 power rack and a squat rack. Nobody uses the squat rack, but if there's more than one guy in the gym, they want the power rack to bench press in.
Best: 24 hour gym, so nobody is there at 4AM

Only one power rack. No squat rack, no rack solely for bench or incline. Just the one power rack and the one bar.

Most of the people in my gym only use machines and cardio equipment anyway, so it's not a huge deal, but if they had one more power rack no one would ever have to wait.

They sure as fuck have TWO vagina spreaders, though.

Oh shit, best? Same as guy above. 24 hours, can go when nobody is there.

Best
>$20 a month
>3 minutes from office
>never crowded at lunch
>clean tidy locker room
>no bullshit, machines in one small section, free weights in the majority of the areas
>oly platforms and squat racks a plenty
>very few DYELs or fat fucks, mostly dadmode working dudes or jacked 20 somethings
>boss goes to the same gym for career gains
Worst
>no pool
>no sauna
>few cardio bunnies

>Best
Uni gym, so free with tuition costs
thirsty women my age mirin
lots of natural light

>worst
dumbells i need are always taken
only two adjustable benches
no preacher bench

Uni gym
Place is huge and I never have to wait for a free squat rack
Closes at 4 on weekends.

Anytime Fitness?

Pros
>all to myself
>no monthly costs
>only plays my kind of music
>can do cheats / partials and other odd shit without dyels judging me
>can do seizure hops, scream, and stomp and shit to amp up for max effort lifts bc I'm alone

Cons
>detached decrepit garage open to the elements
>over 120-130 degrees 9 out of the 12 months bc Texas, no ac, and enclosed space. Basically a giant greenhouse
>Mosquitoes take 30% of my gains each session 10 months of the year

>4 oly platforms and 3 power cages. Almost no meme equipment

>Its a base gym so everyone there is a serious lifter so sometimes 3 power cages aren't enough

Best
>cardio and weights are segregated by floor
>population is mostly cardio bunnies
>weight area usually desolate enough to get anything you need normally
Worst
>recently got rid of most weight machines and added more cardio shit
>weekdays during school are fucked after 2pm
>saturdays and mondays are worse at any time
>people who still lift take 3-5 pairs of dumbbells, enshrine themself then do a 40 minute chest press workout with the 20s
>cardio bunnies get lost in the weight area and bastardize machines
>see bitches doing squats with the smiff
>never can find pl8 you need
>dumbbells never racked in pairs
>locker room has busted and flickering lights

Sounds like MCBH

>gymbros sometimes start wars and attack everyone with the straps

Sounds fucking great

good
>equipment is usually open
>staff autistically reracks dumbbells and weights in the darkness
>bumper pl8s at the platform
>$35/month, sadly the cheapest gym around here
>sometimes they play random movies in the back
>24/7

bad
>i swear there are less 2.5lb plates than power cages, takes forever to find one
>40 minute walk away from me
>there's always someone doing olympic lifts so the rhythm of plates hitting the floor never ends
>10 lb plates are everywhere but also nowhere near you whenever you need them

Best:
>at work
>24 hours, and I work nights
>free if you go more than 10X a month
>more euipment than I'll ever need

Worst:
>music is left on (bangerz, yo), have to use headphones
>no one to spot
>knowing security is watching on the cameras

good
>free
>very close
>open on all hours
>good equipment and there's never anyone using it

bad
>wife and kid get in the way sometimes

good:
>enough squat racks/benches
>one block from apartment so walking distance
>basically everything I need

bad:
>no area for floor lifts, usually just scavenge a bar and set up in front of a smith machine
>hex plates
>one hundred and twenty fucking dollars a month

it's a super bougie gym in a rich neighborhood so there are a ton of "amenities" I'm paying for but not using basically. like they literally have both a pool and a private lake. also the demographics mean almost everyone there is an upper middle class fuck acting out their idea of Fitness Lifestyle, not actually training for real. biggest squat I've seen so far is 1.5pl8, biggest deadlift 2.5pl8, I'm a woman and I'll prolly be the strongest person in this place in a year lol

Worst: repetitive playlist - completely unusable on weekdays after 1700 so have to train at 0600, skinny, weak douche bags that "workout" in packs and take up equipment people could actually make gains on.

Best: pretty empty on weekends, yoga pants.

PROS:
>3 squat racks
>10 minute drive from my place
>high-quality bumper plates

CONS:
>shitty rubber-coated regular plates
>most of the gym is personal trainers and their dumbass clients
>really stupid weekend hours. the gym closes at 2pm on saturdays and 1pm on sundays

could be worse. i could be trying to lift in LA fitness.

there's this faggot who always tries to one-up me. it's especially infuriating with OHP, squat, since he does pushpresses /halfsquat instead.

>best: squat rack, bench press with safeties, hours that work for me, all the equipment I need
>worst: no deadlift platform, no bumper plates

Just go anyway and hope that one of those Women dares to assume your gender so you can tell her off

Best: it's literally next door.
Worst: 40e month and everything is still pretty worn out but on the bright side there's never too much waiting because this drives people away.

Pros
>It's always open and is part of a massive 24 hr chain.
>They have an Oly platform and bumper plates.
>Individual showers and toilets.
>Free fruit by the door.
>Have decent equipment for a commercial gym.

Cons
>Small
>No punching bag.
>No Sauna/Steam Room.
>Expensive.
>All the PTs are women and one DYEL.
>They all HATE weights being dropped, even bumper plates on the Oly platform.
>Have taken to putting up signs because I keep doing Power Cleans.

Nitro Gym, Australia

Pros
> $5 a week in AUS monopoly bucks
> open 24/7
> staffed 24/7
> close to home
> sick cunt paintings
> plenty of machines

Cons
> plenty of machines
> everyones on juice
> "official gym of hammer strength :^)"
> only like 2 power racks and 2 squat racks
> no dedicated deadlifting zone
> no chalk
> need to bring a towel
> owned by CT fletcher or some shit

...

Lots of fags working on retarded shit like balance, agility, etc
Fucking circus lifterd

is that the one near braeside? also some of those cons are are good
> need to bring a towel
> plenty of machines
> "official gym of hammer strength :^)"

How passive aggressive.
I love it.
Continue doing power cleans every day.
What are they gonna do? Actually confront you and talk to you?

anytime fitness melbourne
pros
>open 24/7
>good environment and nice people/staff
>good equipment at the one i go to
>give out free sips every now and then
>next to maccas
Cons
>handful of annoying people go there
>asians take ages in the toilets at peek hour gym time
>lack some equipment you get at bigger gyms

I agree with this desu

Best: 6 power racks
Worse: 2 bench presses

They say something, then stop when I either ignore them or tell them I'm happy to go to either of the other two 24 hour gyms on the same block.

best: all male gym
worst: its a small gym and the machines are close to one another.

> pro: all male gym

>best
it's in my home
>worst
no lat machine yet

Best
>free (military base)
>empty as fuck when I work out (middle of the night due to being on night shift)
>high quality equipment

Worst:
>forget about going during the day. Only gym on base
>comm squadron occassionally storms the place and occupies fucking everything. Might as well just leave when that happens.

Xfit or FitX germany, don't remember the name bc I already canceled my membership. Going back to either building a home gym or joining a decent one.

Pros:
>insanely cheap (15€ / month)
>great equipment (hammer strenght, power rack, DL platform, kettlebells)
>lots of hot, young girls in yoga pants

Cons:
>lots of retards
>since end of school for summer, has become a childcare center
>filthy due to the other members being assholes

With all the underaged retards there, it has become a real hassle to train there. One of them works out, three do the spotting.

commercial gym, Poland, around 14$/month

Best:
>Lots of space and equipment, no need to wait for the equipment you want to use.
>All the bros from the regional american football team goes there, many of those are my friends, so there is always someone to spot you/slap your ass (no homo)
>fair amount of college qt's to boost your motivation
>Free ice-cold water dispenser
Worst:
>Shit-tier PT's, one in particular, +/- 45 year old hideous couguar who eyefucks most of the guys during training.
> shitty locker room, you need to bring your own padlock.
> subpar shower
> equipment, while in good condition and shape, is somewhat old

Demand just the same, euqaulity for everyone

>shitty locker room, you need to bring your own padlock.
Is it cityfit? I heard from friends they went there once and didn't have their own padlocks, so they just pissed off.

See
Australia would be much better off without Melbourne.

But what if i identify as a woman?

Forgot to mention.
They put one on every single mirror in the gym, with one directly in front of the Oly platform.

They used to have two small signs on the kickboard, but they just plastered the gym with it.
I must have really upset them.

>have oly platform
>not allow to drop weights
Your gym owner/manager is fucking retarded

It's a commercial gym, staffed by four females and a literal twink.
Hence why I continue to drop the weights.
I'm not chasing the bar down, and I'm not going to stop doing power cleans, they make me feel so good.

Got a deployment gym too
Good
>has all the equipment you need
>plates are abundant
Bad
>gets packed quick
Have to wait sometimes 20 mins to do the excercise I want

nah, its Fitness Point. There is a chink who sells those padlocks in his shop which is like 10 meters away from the entrance to the gym in the mall, I swear to god that crafty motherfucker bought his X5 BMW for all those padlocks.

seeing as I have a home gym the lack of an incline bench is the biggest problem. working out my chest is difficult, I have to admit it.

Oi, get fucked, cunt. Inner-city Melbourne is dope af.

Pros
>not expensive (30€/month)
>have one power cage
>only gym in the area, others are "fitness/wellness centers"

Cons
>building not designed to be a gym (electric wiring and plumbing at ground level, no windows and bad air conditioning)
>equipment is of the lowest quality
>plenty of blacks, arabs, pakis and women who can't behave
>everything is dirty, especially the showers
>owners don't lift and keep making retarded decisions

Muslim and/or Asian identified

Best: Great lighting,not packed,no foreigners
Worst: Middle aged women living midlifecrisis and middle aged men acting top gun, when no gains are noticable.

It's free, in my building and constantly empty.

Downside is lack of free weights. It's cool though, I'm gonna take a few months off the big four and come back to them later. My routine was getting a bit boring anyway.

Nahhh, I am as pale as they come, haha. First generation though.

Best
>$45/month for a large, open 24 hours gym with good, abundant equipment

Worst
>Any member can play their music on the gym speakers
As much as I hate the usual music that people play in there, the worst part about this is how the gym receptionist keeps bugging me to play my music. I always refuse which adds in to her perception of me having the 'tism.

Do you like wiener?

18 month contract, is that an American thing? Here in socialist country you're usually bound just 1 month

Is it being a hammer strength gym bad? They have a lot of good equipment.

Literally illegal if it's anything more than a 'suggestion' and they actually refuse you because of your dick.

Melbourne has ruined Australia.

I want to jettison it off to Argentina.

>Best
Cheap, 20$/month
Staff/PTs that actually lift
Pretty spacious
No one ever using squat rack/platforms

>Worst
50$ annual fee
only 1 squat rack
There is this one turbo manlet that is constantly giving bad advice and talking about how adapted his body is to exercise
Always a group of 5 old ladies that spend 30+ minutes on the turf foam rolling while gossiping

How so, my dude?
