you can start your contraceptives on a non-period day. It will just take one week of continuous taking to be effective at contraception instead of one day.

I would wait for the period pain to subside and then start desu. Also I would look into cyclical fasting, as that won't fuck with hormones as much and you might not have to worry about it in the future.
