The alamo itself is a really awful tourist trap. When I went there once, the entrance of the building as seen in the picture was overfilled with tourists with all of them being funneled into a photobooth that is mandatory to walk through in order to enter the building. I walked through the back gardens a bit, which while pretty nice with a couple of exibits, were pretty much let down by a gift shop which - if I remember correctly - was more in the way than the alamo itself. I found the whole thing to be really insulting to the history of the alamo and the state of texas

I live in San Antonio and have never been funneled into a photo booth in the 50+ times I’ve been to the Alamo.

Of course, I live in San Antonio, so I haven’t been to the Alamo in a fucking decade so maybe they’ve switched it up.

I still walk by it every single (work)day and haven’t seen anything indicating that though

Don’t get me wrong though. You’re 100% correct it’s an awful tourist trap. So is the river walk and almost all of downtown
