I get to 60 after 3 weeks or a month of daily play and then I stop because I don't want to grind for gear and then just have it erased.

I've leveled 3 characters to 60 now but still haven't ran Dire Maul, MC, BWL, Blackrock spire, strath, etc

On my last char I got into AV which, although it sounded great in my mind, those 6 hour games get really boring after the first 2 or 3.

That's something actually meaningful - good at an instrument, very knowledgable on some topic, learned a new language, obtained a professional designation, etc etc etc etc. I'll admit, videogames were honestly some of the funnest times of my life, I loved played runescape, i loved WoW, I loved league of legends i loved counterstrike I loved all those shitty mmos i played for a few months then quit for whatever reason. it was all so much fun, but it was all ultimately meaningless.

I wish I listened to my parents and actually done something I could show now.

The average person will not serve a "grand purpose" like for example Elon Musk and further human techonology. Hell, there's no indication that anything any human does impacts anything. Sure, but there's a bit of a nuance when it comes to "delayed gratification" - which ultimately makes us happier in the end.
Lifting weights and tracing my calories makes me pretty "unhappy" sometimes, I'd be much happier sitting at home jacking off to CP and eating cheetos. But for some reason we (not sure about you) go to the gym and lift, and eat well. Because we enjoy looking good, feeling good and the feeling of accomplishment that we get LATER.

Learning a useful skill after a very long struggle, or raising a family or developing an incredible career is a better feeling that any videogame or any other instant gratification will ever give you. "Gaymers" end up depressed with little life accomplishments so they end up either living shitty lives later on (if they don't smarten up that is), or they try to desperately catch up to their peers to no avail.

I don't know. I was a hell of a lot more autistic and awkward before I played wow. I went from running away from other players, and being scared of social interactions, to leading pugged raids and commanding guilds filled with clichs, politics, and inner struggling factions to achieve things that were difficult to do.

I learned a lot about human behavior, I learned a lot about friendship and what it really meant. I learned that satisfaction came from effort, not instant gratification.

I would not trade the time I played for the world, it taught me a lot that I failed to learn through being the creepy kid in school.

I tried playing WoW when I was a senior in highschool during '04. It wasn't classic EverQuest pvp. WoW had way better resource mechanics for melee though. It's a shame WoW completely abandoned the trinity of [tank/healer/crowd control] .
