They should've killed Chiang "Better Jap than Red" Kai Shek during the Xi'an incident.

this
THREE RULES
EIGHT NOTICES

What is the source of that image?

The japs were the good guys, everybody knows this.

>KMT

Egypt?

China, WW2

Chiang did nothing wrong, KMT would lose mainland China even if it was led by someone else as the CPP had Soviet support.

That said, Taiwan is the last bastion of real Chinese culture, partly thanks to the Kai Shek dynasty.

Because they're retarded internet tough guys who want to fight the cold war all over again. The KMT opposed the communists, ergo, they are the good guys, and were extremely advanced, fair, competent, and wise. You see the same sort of whitewashing for the Russian Czars.

>Chiang did nothing wrong
He didn't let his son use his pseudo-Hitlerjugend to clean house of Soong and Kung fuckheads

Both sucked, but a lot of what's indicted on the nationalists', treating civilians unfairly, taxes being high, famines, is because they wanted to struggle against the Japanese, no matter the cost.

Communists of Mao don't get the same accusations, but only because the communists were usually very happy to enter in unofficial truces (well they tried one offensive against the Japanese at the start of the war IIRC, but it failed miserably). They dind't have to make the same sacrifices to be in a constant state of war.

>as the CPP had Soviet support.
The Soviets basically were just cheerleading the CPP. All the help they gave them was just crates of captured German weapons.

In addition Stalin didn't want a unified China at all. Maybe a China that was split into two or a weak republic. China unified under communist rule to him would mean the world would have a second communist leader and he was absolutely right 20 years after he died.

>The CPP had Soviet support
And the nationalists had Western support, what's your point? The nationalists really were just grossly incompetent and did not have real control of much of the country.

>That said, Taiwan is the last bastion of real Chinese culture, partly thanks to the Kai Shek dynasty.
Taiwan is larping as special snowflake independent country now, what are you talking about?

Not only did the KMT make Taiwan prosper to a degree China never could, but Chiang has also won post-reform China; because of "socialism" with Chinese characteristics, communist China economically resembles nationalist China.

also chinese who fled mainland believe chiang dindu nuffin

>Taiwan is the last bastion of real Chinese culture

>Denies Chinese heritage and shills aboriginal culture.
>Legalizes gay marriage (the most anti-confucian thing ever).
>Encourages migration of SEAsians to combat Mainlander immigration.
Yeap.

You mean
>Sucks Jap and American dick

Forgot about that.
>THE JAPS DID NOTHING WRONG IN WWII THEY DEVELOPED TAIWAN!
>W-well my grandfather was a guerilla back in mainland China that is why they murdered his family! They should never have resisted. Japan was out for Asia's good!

>There are people who unironically believe guys like Edgar Snow, Owen Lattimore and Agnes Smedley who have been proved to be communist agents

What a nightmare.

I wondered a few times, when reading books on WW2 history, what Japan could have done to legitimize itself in the eyes of average Chinese person.... aside from setting aside their monstrous brutality, and actually treating them as people, the only idea I could come up with would be marrying Manchu/Chinese (I'm not sure if any decedents of Korean monarchs were left....) royalty into the Japanese Imperial House and claiming that Japan/China were one Empire, and blaming the strife on "Western" ideas of government. Japanese/Chinese chauvinism/nationalism/pride in their culture/language makes a complete integration, including language completely unlikely.

The only other addition, that could have any success, was setting up some sort of representative/parlimentary with representation from occupied areas.

These ideas don't seem likely, and I'm not even sure how likely they would be to succeed..... but to win the population over, one way or another, Japan would have had to stop being WW2 Japan.

Japanese did develop parts of East Asia, Asians would've been better off under Japanese rule or an alliance of nations to kick out weitu piggu.

>Western support was way too far away, the closest western nation was the British Raj, while the Soviet Union was by their side. Though I agree that they were incompetent, mainly because of the corruption.

>Taiwan ain't larping anything, it is more independent than other special snowflakes out there, like Kosovo.

>I've never seen anyone from Taiwan deny Chinese *heritage*, they deny Chinese *nationality*.
>Confucius is a fag, based Laozi knows everyone must find their own way, hard dicks and wet pussies, you put your mouth were you like it the most.
>Culture ain't about race, unlike some poltards think. Besides, until about 20 years ago, they were against SEA immigration.

Japs were just too dumb to understand soft power. They could just as easily let a balkanized Republic of China (without Manchuria, Tibet, Mongolia and East Turkestan) take care of its own affairs while Japanese exercised financial power, like the U.S. does today with its vassals.

The reason Anglo-American imperialism beat Japanese or German imperialism is that they were smarter in this regard, after all.

>I've never seen anyone from Taiwan deny Chinese *heritage*, they deny Chinese *nationality*.
The retards who spilled paint over Chiang's statues just a few days ago were literally using racially derogatory terms made by the Japs

>(the most anti-confucian thing ever).
Says who? And Confucius isn't the only Chinese philosophy around moron.

The only real bastion of Chinese culture is Hong Kong

The Kai-Shek family did install a military junta in Taiwan after all, it's only natural that some progressive teenagers will be mad at authoritatian figures. Just like some antifa retards destroy statues around the US.

>did install a military junta in Taiwan after all
More like their military junta downgraded from whole of China to Taiwan

>Hong Kong pussy still literally dripping with Bong cum
>Bastion of Chinese culture

>interracial mixing overrides decades long of Hong Kong receiving Chinese craftsman and artists from China

>Hong Komg is that last bastion of Chinese culture.
Eh... As a person actually from Hong Kong, I find that a bit iffy. The thousand poor as fuck villages in southern China definitely are much more similar to the traditional way of Chinese life than us. We're far too liberal for that.

If you really see culture as something stagnant and cannot be changed then sure. HK seems to me to be the one that making Chinese art for Chinese

explain how edgar snow was a communist agent

Well I guess that definition works too, but sadly, thanks to (((強國))) that won't be the case anymore.

The conscription process was in fact horrific, and losses were extremely high, but that was mainly due to Warlord-era views on conscription. If someone next to you on the forced march died, it was reasonable to run away and hide. Within a few weeks a different army would draft you, and you'd continue the cycle until you found someone who was either agreeable or actually had fucking guards on the marches. The Communists won the civil war in part from this attitude--after every battle the Nationalists captured were immediately sent back into combat for them, and everyone just rolled with it since POWs didn't exist as a concept in China.

I think this caused serious issues in Korea, but like everyone else I haven't read too deeply into it.

>mfw can't watch any Stephen Chow or gambler movies anymore
Paying money to watch From Vegas to Macau 3 is one of my top 10 biggest regrets of my life

How do you keep the march guards from deserting?

Does anyone know any good online lectures covering the Warlord Era?

Whores and money, sometimes a cheeky little bit of opium

1. Misanthropy common to people who grew up in barbarised circumstances.
2. Pleasure of abusing the little bit of authority you give them.
3. 4. H O T F O O D

In the long run, they were the lesser evil.

The Kuomintang (Wade-Giles) or Guomindang (Pinyin) were the Chinese nationalist party who were led by Chiang Kai-shek and opposed Mao's communists.

Sauce please

Wow I never knew Dai-chan was a war veteran
