What are you doing today to improve yourself Veeky Forums?
Also /r/ing any Veeky Forums images/infographics regarding self improvement, diet, taking care of yourself etc. Just got a new PC and I forgot to back up my Veeky Forums folder, feels.
Reminder to read every day. It helps your brain and the vocab you pick up and start using makes you seem smarter even if what you're reading is what Veeky Forums would call trash.

What's good! Made one of these on biz but it didn't do so hot a while ago.
Been focusing on money a lot. Just graduated. Turned a 1.5k investment into 10k and am still holding. Also working a shit ton, saved up 11k so far. Anyways I feel like I am getting burnt out from working so much and haven't been enjoying myself. Fell into a massive depression because of a breakup and filled that void with dinero but now I am feeling good.
So I have implemented some changes, with community college starting up I will only be working on the weekends. I will have classes two days a week leaving 3 days of me time. I will prob start bulking I am horribly under weight and have lifted in the past but didn't gain weight because of calorie intake.
Any advice anons? I wanna be the best me I feel like money is covered, 20k networth at 18 is a dream to me. I think getting big is the next call. I am not sure what do with the 11k I have saved up maybe focus on fashion or keep saving. But all I know is I want to get big and I know I can do it.
Logan Gray
As part of your self improvement, do yourself a favour and don't start a new "Veeky Forums folder"... That will be a great step to improve yourself

I recommend you guys all reading pic related. It's super short, about 90 pages. This book was written in the 50's and Jung had amazing insight into how things would be in the future because they mostly turned out to be true. I think a lot of young guys lack meaning in their lives, don't know their place, or where to go. Especially in today's era of glorified nigger culture, multiculturalism, mass immigration, outsourcing of jobs, etc. Not even /pol/, just being straight. Anyways, this book was short and sweet and gave some great insight into being an INDIVIDUAL.
I like to make notes from the books I read to save myself from rereading the thing in the future. >"If I want to understand an individual human being, I must lay aside all scientific knowledge of the average man and discard all theories in order to adopt a completely new and unprejudiced attitude. I can only approach the task of understanding with a free and open mind, whereas knowledge of man, or insight into human character, presupposes all sorts of knowledge about mankind in general" (Page 6). >"For, in order to turn the individual into a function of the State, his dependence on anything beside the State must be taken from him. But religion means dependence on and submission to the irrational facts of experience. These do not refer directly to social and physical conditions; they concern far more the individual’s psychic attitude" (Page 13). >"Confronting this development in the twentieth century of our Christian Era, the Western world stands with its heritage of Roman law, the treasures of Judaeo-Christian ethics grounded on metaphysics, and its ideal of the inalienable rights of man" (Page 23).
Just my two cents lads. We need more /fitlit/.

Fashion isn't gonna help you to save more. Ever.

I read Veeky Forums every day
Jaxson Perry
Ofc not but I feel like I don't present myself how I should. I don't know what to do with the money I have saved up. What would you do with 11k at 18? Just keep saving or travel I really have no clue.
Kayden Jackson
Has anyone here tried Nofap? Or is it just a meme. I feel like it might be a good challenge to take on for myself.
John Harris
I did. It works. You feel like a god and you get increased gains.

Whatever you do don't be like most people who finally get a bit of savings and go buy a new car... Buy something under 5k with cash and don't upgrade for 5+ years. Paying loan repayments and interest is a real killer and it seriously takes over your life until you pay it off which is often 5 years later with a car worth a quarter of what you paid for it.
Jacob White
Hey faggot, I'm Veeky Forums too. I'm sitting on 60k in crypto currently. Just hold and watch the market. That's it. I'm future you. I'm 25, just got out of grad school, got a job with the government, and am just cruising right now. I would say buying yourself some decent clothes would be good, but don't blow your shit on stupid stuff like drugs, alcohol, and even traveling. You got lucky with the April bull run, don't waste it.
Ryder Jackson
Learning the basics of fashion so that you can pull off basics (which are cheap) and find the difference between cheap and quality garments so that you can purchase things that will last a long time and will fit your silhouette and match your wardrobe can definitely help you save your money. The alternative is to buy cheap shit constantly, costing you more in the long run, and you look like shit along the way. Learn to sew if you've got a machine, also. Fitted clothes look so much better.
As for your savings, yeah. Keep saving. Find a mutual fund or something low risk for the majority of your money and pretend you never had it. For the rest of the stuff you earn, budget it into different groups (short term, long term, etc), so that when you reach milestones like this you don't have to worry about divvying it up. Not really for any financial reason, but it feels a lot better to think "Wow, I've saved up 9k long term savings and 2k short term savings, I've got a whole 2k that I can spend guilt free!" than to worry about how much you should pull from your pool.
Adrian Morales
>Whatever you do don't be like most people who finally get a bit of savings and go buy a new car... Good advice.
>Buy something under 5k with cash and don't upgrade for 5+ years. Terrible advice.
>Paying loan repayments and interest is a real killer and it seriously takes over your life until you pay it off which is often 5 years later with a car worth a quarter of what you paid for it. Do a small down payment and take a loan out for it to build your credit over two years. Is that 3% really going to kill him? No. In fact, it spreads his risk out over the two years for ultra cheap on a 5k loan. That 5k is better in HIS pocket today.
Justin Sanchez
No fucking way what's good! Antshares turned my portfolio into big money bought some gas too, sold all my strat! What are you holding? I am thinking about selling half of all my coins and risking it in lower market caps? Any advice might sound goofy but I know I can turn 10k into a lot more money if I get lucky because this market is really fucking stupid. Haha I want to go to grad school to be a lawyer getting a business management degree. I hope we make it user.
What else are you doing besides crypto? I have really sucked myself into that market and discarded my hobbies. Want to start lifting soon again though. I drive a 2009 camry so need for a new car. Maybe keep saving so I can buy a house someday I don't want to get into the renting trap and having no money for a house.

To all the Veeky Forums fags in here My friend made 100k with crypto and he said he's gonna invest a lot in xby because the tech is gonna get released soon and skyrocket I can only invest 50 euros a month into crypto, is that even worth it?
To all the Veeky Forums fags in here I recently started reading and so far I read The art of war The 48 laws of power Meditations Mein kampf (original 1930s version from grandma, I am German) What else could you recommend me? I'm looking right now at the Niccolò Machiavelli, Dante and Baltasar Gracian
Jacob Campbell
Holding quite a bit. Mostly ETH and LTC these days. I made a shit ton off of ARK and XEM. You can invest in what you'd like, mate. But I think the majority of crypto is shitcoins.
Besides crypto, the government has a "thrift savings" plan which I do and I also invest in index funds. That's it. I'll probably cut back a bit to be more aggressive with my mortgage though because I'd like to start renting the place out.
And I did the same. I no-lifed crypto from Feb to June pretty much. Now the market is sideways so I'm looking elsewhere but I have a purely dedicated crypto twitter which I advise you to start too. Don't do business management. Everyone I know who did that started a 35k/yr job. I did one year extra for my masters and started at $53k and upon completion of this retarded program they have me in it will be $72k. Law school put one of my exes in debt $80k. Fuck that. I got a half ride for undergrad and a full ride to grad school. Debt kills, especially at 8% interest a year.
Austin Allen

Training and reading about psychology and economics. Also studying a bit before I go to uni in September, to make sure I'm up to date with all the science I need to know. Also thinking of trying Jordan Peterson's self authoring suite, has anyone on here tried it?
Jose Hernandez
>Also thinking of trying Jordan Peterson's self authoring suite, has anyone on here tried it? Tried it, about half way done with the past program. Prepare for a lot of writing. It has been helping though.
Gavin Bennett
I would like to get a credit card and only use it for gas or something like that. I feel like I am in a very good spot in my life at the moment and I want to keep advancing. Good credit would be great. I have investments in crypto which is hugely volatile. I have 3k in a 401k but I will look into a mutual fund. I went to a house party a week ago and everyone doing kegs stands was getting a business degree was a real eye opener. But it's a business management degree with X could be paralegal, economics, or whatever I like. I am not worried about over saturation though. I say this because I have a really good work ethic and I plan to intern my ass off throughout college. I have 2.5 years of work experience so far also won award in a business program at school. Just gotta network and I know I will make it.
What's your thoughts on antshares (neo)? I feel like this coin is so hyped up right now. But I believe in it which is important to me. With 3 days of free time I want to get into day trading and try to learn this market. I have just listened to my gut and biz somewhat and it has worked. XBY and STRAT made me 2k in my beginnings and both are scams imo LOL.
Also going the community college way I will graduate debt free. Maybe if my crypto keeps growing I can eat through a large amount of student debt. I won't go into law school if I can't go ivy league though because a lot of law students can't find a job. Go big or go home. What is your crypto twitter if you mind?
Benjamin Martin
Not super Veeky Forums, but I'd recommend picking up some light reading on the side in addition to whatever else you pursue. Stop by the bookstore and wander through until something catches your eye, or go back and reread whatever you liked as a kid. This: gives you something to read even if you don't feel like being a very active reader, gives you something to talk about with normies, and now you have easy reading books you can lend to people to get them into the heavy stuff or have something to talk to them about with.
Brody Cook
you Veeky Forums guys, got recs for books?
Nicholas Diaz
Nope, I don't read enough which I should work on. Just lurk on biz and study the market. If you want to get into it. A lot of us just treat it as a hobby which sounds funny. But it is a lot of fun.
Owen Cruz
It's a meme AND it somewhat works. It's not like the movie Limitless in that you suddenly become ultra focussed and motivated but the knowledge that you remained strong instead of giving in to your base instincts will make you a bit more confident and might thus lead to other improvements. This. There are actually tons of books that would qualify as light reading that still offer tons of insight.

>Bible Translation NIV is written in today's English, and very accurate translation of the hebrew/Greek text. ESV is more accurate word for word and still easily read. NKJV/KJV is more poetic and Shakespearean, only way less accurate translation from original text. I use NIV. Most say to start in the Gospel of John. i started in Matthew and read straight through the New Testament. Supplementing a chapter of Psalms/Proberbs between readings is great too.

Dropped a hundred bucks and picked up an exercise bike like pic related. I play a fair amount of vidya on console, and that can lead to hours of being completely sedentary. Now I cycle while I play. As soon as I get tired or want to stop, the game stops too.

Some people value their money more than their time or utility. Or maybe some people derive more utility from money than from travel, or some other expenditure. Or maybe he's talking about the kind of travel that WASPs put in their facebook interests where you take a week off of work and spend five figures to fly to Bermuda and stay in an air conditioned suite.
Either way, homogenization is the inevitable death of the universe. The fact that you disagree is keeping us alive.
Austin Jones
Guy you are completely agreeing with and I agree, not everyone values traveling but they shouldn't be fuckers about it and tell others not too. If it takes me just a little more than a thousand dollars to travel to a jungle and explore caves I'm going to do it.
Especially agree about the last part, people shouldn't get so butthurt about differences. I'm considered extra liberal by Veeky Forums standards and I still lift and my closest friends are ex-marines and ultra conservative christians, we disagree on so many things but why should it matter.

How often do you cycle or rather, how often do you vidya? What kind of notices have you made these past few months. I might do this in my living room since I was looking for a recliner, I can just toss this bitch in.
Isaiah Hughes
Its worked great for me. I find vidya to be the perfect solution. Anything engaging makes time fly by. I only do around 30 mins or less of cardio at the gym, but I was going for a good hour or more today. Its the solution to how boring cardio can be.
Aiden Price
Normally I would run for 15-30 minutes 4 or so times a week. Now I cycle about a moderate speed on a 4-6 resistance (out of 9) roughly 4-6 times a week, but for at least an hour.
Ive found that, while not huge, the results are noticable. Ive lost likely around 1-3% bf, but kept my mass. Normally when I ran it would be tough not to lose a bit of muscle, especially in my arms and shoulders. Also the cycling is great for thighs too, as its resistance and not pure cardio like running or swimming, so I dont hurt so much after leg day.

I wish these threads didn't always devolve into a book club and people telling each other to read meditations and other stoic works. Nothing wrong with reading, but it's all you cunts talk about and make these threads boring and lame.
Lets talk about the steps you're taking to ACTUALLY improve yourself RIGHT NOW. I'll contribute >waking up early (5:30am) to either exercise, study something I'm interested in learning about (personal finance), or catch up on the news and current events so making small talk with normies is easier >using habit-tracking app to help me develop useful habits (HabitShare for android and iphone) >learning french very slowly, only spending ~20 minutes a day right now using DuoLingo, Rosetta Stone, and a french texbook. Will take a few years to understand, read, speak in french at this pace but I'm cool with that
Remember bros, nothing will come at once. Take small steps and do them consistently; develop a habit to work on the things you want. Don't pour yourself into it or you'll get worn out and tired quickly. "Touch" (work on) your projects a little bit every day, after a year or two (maybe more) you'll be pretty good at all the things you've developed a habit for. Use the compound effect to your advantage
Landon Ramirez
Any particular reason you are learning french? Arabic or turkish are infinitely more useful if you are planning on touring europe.
Austin Butler
you should drop video games all together and replace them with something more productive, like building relationships or mastering hobbies where you're producing something and not just mindlessly consuming (aka stop gaming, watching movies/shows/anime, browsing garbage sites like Veeky Forums, facebook, reddit, etc.)
William Nguyen
I live in Canada, will be entering a career where I could easily work in a cushy government job (easier to advance if you speak French), and like visiting Montreal every now and then.
If learning Mandarin or Arabic wasn't hard as fuck I'd be trying to learn those instead. They are definitely a lot more useful than French
Andrew Davis
I quit Warframe, got smarter about how much time and money I spend playing Magic, and I picked up reading again as a hobby. Made it through about 6 books in as many weeks.

I stopped watching anime and stopped listening to japanese music. I now listen to death grip mashups with some varying metal and rock. Cut off communication with friends who did nothing but ruin their lives by doing drugs and other shit (basically chads I used to hang out with to make myself feel better about myself) Gave up on console gaming entirely, going to try and not pick up a controller ever again because all it does it distract me from being the best person I can be. Socialising more, not being someone who I'm not and just trying to be who I am to a group of friends that accepts me as well as supports me. So far has been pretty good.

What you have to ask yourself is if you have an addiction to masturbation. Any addiction, mentally or physically, that one may have, short circuits the part of your brain that is supposed to make you feel good about making progress toward long term goals. Your addictions and lack of concrete goals are why you are depressed and unmotivated.

I attend 1.5 hours of jiu jitsu training every other day. During my off days I do a kettlebell weight routine, which works for my apt (one room). In addition to this, I read atleast one hour per day. Currently bookwhoring between Thus Spake Zarathustra, the Drawing of the Three, Gulag Archipelago, and The Essential Guide to Getting Your Book Published. One in the car, one in the office, one in the bedroom, and one in my backpack. Currently I work 70 hours per week, but am upgrading to 40 hours per week with higher pay in 5 weeks. When this happens, I plan on adding boxing training to my seventh night. For my leisure time I watch UFC, write, and do origami. I decided to give up gaming in December, and it totally changed my life. I will still play with friends on the gamecube or ps2, but I don't play anything alone anymore. Get MyFitnessPal if you don't have it, give up gaming, don't drink more than once a week, don't smoke weed more than once a week, and exercise at least four times per week. Don't drink calories, and drink 64 ounces of water per day MINIMUM.

I like what I like and nothing can change that. I folded up a dragon that was pretty cool yesterday. If you have anything interesting to suggest I'd be all ears though, it's good to be a well-rounded person.

I spent the last 3 years doing an IT degree and I still feel horribly under qualified for every job I've applied/been interviewed for, does anyone have any good IT book recommendations?

Any Veeky Forums bros play piano? I picked it up again a little over a year ago after dropping it in middle school and I can easily spend 3-4 hours a day practicing. Getting into the minds of classical composers through their works is both meditative and cathartic. its easily my favorite hobby.

Benjamin Reyes
Oh alright, what type of anime music did you like. Maybe could help you get into similar shit that isn't anime OP's.
>Tbh you sound like the type of dude who thinks e-sports is an actual sport Never watched it or intend to watch it but by definition it is a sport, it's a competitive game with a set of rules that people compete in physically. Not very physical but unlike chess which is just mind gains you actually have speed, dexterity, focus, reflexes, and hand-eye coordination. Just because you don't like something doesn't make it a thing, art is human expression so while masturbation might be able to be considered art (not sure how someone would accomplish this, maybe cum on a picture of their dead wife) it really wouldn't be that well constructed or be considered very "artful". Same way videgames aren't considered that artful, it has the disadvantage of being created only recently and as such has been subject to the consumer market as opposed to be used in any secular traditions and hasn't been refined over thousands of years. A low art form but art.

This guy gets it. Gradual gains produced by persistence and resolve.
Reading literature and nonfiction has value in itself, but it's more of a production capacity builder than an outright productive endeavor. It will sharpen your mind, your wit, and your sense of the human condition... but it won't directly achieve whatever it is you feel you're lacking (what drives you to self-improve).
Plus, you some of you faggots have shit taste and choose to read /pol/ trash. Fedoralord shite. You know who reads books to become more like the romanticized manly men of yesteryear? Fucking nerds who are the least like them.

Why are you talking about stores? For one to talk to people from different cultures and entirely different perspectives on the world than you. For me I travel because 99.999999% of the world isn't near me. Why not walk through deserts and valleys, why not go through a fucking jungle and experience things you would never be able to experience in your 9-5 job?
Life is an experience and you don't have to spend much to do it, I don't know why you are wired to where you can hear of a fantastical place that you can't even fathom how beautiful it is and think "eh I rather have 1000 dollars".
Really does change you as a person talking to people in their homelands (even traveling through the US at times) and seeing how different people are. Makes you realize the flaws of your own culture and thinking habits are.
Josiah Long
I haven't played vg at all in at least a year but to declare the medium any less capable of producing art than another is straight up fallacious. In fact, there's an argument that posits that film is the ultimate art form because it combines most other art forms -- acting, writing, photography, music, etc; by that argument, video games are have a higher capacity for artistry than any other medium because they include every ingredient of film with additional factors afforded by direct audience interaction. And that's been capitalized on by shit like Spec Ops: The Line to explore cognitive dissonance, Journey as an illustration of the monomyth, and probably a dozen other things I haven't heard of because I barely care in the first place.
Whether that potential is actually capitalized on even 2% of the time is a whole other deal, but to call it invalid out of ignorance basically makes you French. It's exactly as valid as watching Netflix, going to the movies, going to a gallery or reading a book. Pretending any of that is anything more or less than consumption of media is for emaciated Parisian faggots paying four figure rent to commiserate about some other faggot's hobby in their dying breaths as they suffocate under the writhing bodies of five thousand refugees.
Yeah it's a waste of time but most shit is, and here you are with a pocket sized computer connected to the database of all human knowledge at all times and you're using it to fag up a thread.
