i actually just came off of keto. i was able to do it for almost 3 1/2 months and lost 15lbs. I did keto because i have had a very extreme sweet tooth my whole life, not to mention have been overweight; so this was a really good personal challenge. Im a decent cook and LOVE my greens so it was a pretty easy diet. i ate a lot of grilled meats, until i bought a smoker.
the only reason i stopped was because i was getting diet fatigue. it was getting hard to eat just meat and greens to the point i was starting to survive on plain whey shakes, 'cheating carbs' but staying under for keto and then eating no veggies at all. i figured it was time to end

It's irresponsible to suggest that bdnf is miracle-gro for the brain. The brain itself is a recursive structure that relies on a plethora of other proteins, enzymes, and cofactors. Keto might work for some, but for me it sucked. I was on a hard cut for quite some time (started at 330lbs) and had just hit 210lbs at 6ft and lifts were safely above 1/2/3/4 so I looked pretty decent. Not ripped, but some bicep veins and to normies I was easily bearmode.

The final stage of the cut proved, naturally, harder than the previous ones. I wasn't a hambeast anymore and my training required a lot of protein and energy, so a caloric deficit required more planning. Instead of putting in the extra effort, I thought I'd meme myself to athletic mode and tried keto.

Boy that was a mistake. First off, the first couple of weaks on keto you'll be weak as FUCK. I couldn't keep hit my usual numbers at all. This made me crave more calories (and electrolytes and cards) cause I absolutely loathe underperforming at the gym.

Then you have the carb-ups/refeeds. Now, these might be easy for normal humans looking to shed a few pounds, but for an ex-hambeast that has been on an autistically strict diet for ages, suddenly breaking the routine every now and then is a bad idea. The skid is real.

In the end, keto made me both weaker and a bit fatter. Took a bit to recover and start eating normally (i.e. a real cut and a normal healthy without bullshit gimmicks) but that shit set me back a couple of months at least.


TLDR: If you can get it done eating normally, then stick with that. Keto isn't magic and to me, it's more trouble than it's worth. If all that micromanaging went into a normal diet, you'd be controlling your weight like a thermostat.

keto is literally just a different way of doing the same thing. Even after entering ketosis if you're not a total lardass you're going to be barely losing more than a regular diet. You might lose an extra 3 pounds in a 4-month period and to me that is just not worth the amount of shit you have to go through.
