Some high level athletes bulk and do GOMAD.
Some don't.

I've done it, increased all my lifts, put on quite some muscle and quite some fat. If that's not the end of the world, it's a viable alternative. Figure out what works for you.

unless you look like skeletor all you need is a slight caloric surplus + lifting to maximize gains. literally a small snack extra each day would cover it.

When you find yourself dieting for 2 + months you're going to regret this. It is what usually happens.

To put it in numbers, a lb of male bodyweight needs about 15 calories to sustain itself.

If you're some skinny fuck just starting out, expect maybe 10 or 15 lbs of muscle growth in the first year and probably a little fat gain too.

So just eat to maintain that kind of weight. Comes out to around 250-350 extra calories. Maybe a touch more but that's really it.
