You're just gay.

Nah, I found it exciting and fascinating. I get a rush when I learn about it.
I suppose it might be the same reason people enjoy soap operas or romance novels, as an escape from your own drab existence. It's exciting to think about another time when things are different.

Only because I hate the current year. And because it reminds me I'm gonna die soon.

After watching TTC's history of the renaissance I thought "oh my god America is doomed"
After listening to History of Rome podcast I thought "and that might not be a bad thing"

After watching TTC's history of Spain I thought "well Spain has a good run"

Same. Not sure what else to add to this conversation.

There are some enjoyable, comedic parts though.
Ex: The Berlin Airlift's Candy Bomber, the fact that, statistically, drinking increased in the US during Prohibition, it was not actually illegal to drink, and the US Department of Agriculture would send people who requested it instructions on how to make beer. And the Emu War. And that time Santa Anna had a funeral for his leg. And when the Spanish court moved to Brazil for safety, but then decided they did not want to go back home because they just liked it better.

This tbqh.
Only depressing thing about history, is reminder how fucked the current years are

Anyone else?

It makes me sad how close we have been to having a less shit society than we do now

I will never forgive the commies for that. I couldn't care less about the gazillions of chinks they murdered, the Romanovs were too pure for this world.

>Romanov
>End of your dynasty because of some dirty communists and jews

>Rurikid
>End of your dynasty because you kill your son

Really make you think

Hell no, I get excited as fuck.
>Oh, we don't stone bitches because of zealousy
>Oh, we don't believe miasma causes plague instead of viruses and germs
>Oh, we have painkilling drugs now for the first time
>Oh, we can fly for the first time ever

Fuck the past. It keeps reminding me just how awesome it is to live today

No, not really

fucking right, The only part that gets me depressed about studying history is that people had to suffer without these advances in the past

>learning more about political philosophies during weimar germany

Same thing happened to me, with stalinism instead of fascism (which are basically the same things, ie everybody shuts the fuck up and works for the government).

Reading about the fall of Rome makes it abundantly clear how the US and likely many other Western countries are doomed. Reminds me that Hobbes had some good points and how masses of humans can't handle liberty and wealth.
