It's akin to the idea of walking around with hay bales or pails of water/milk/etc. It works the forearms as it trains your grip strength. Alternative to that is to do dead man hangs, in which you find a raised bar, jump and grab it, and then just hold for dear life without touching the ground because it's lava.
