Is there historical basis for poor UK/Russia relations? Or is it just the great game?

The Great Game as well as Russia's historical threat to the balance of power in Europe.

Russia and Britain teamed up against Napoleon, the Kaiser, and Hitler. Basically, there needs to be some kind of boogeyman in central europe in order for them to get along.

Yeah, they can only ally for a short while then go back to hating each other again.

Russia is a natural ally of the French and dead set on dominating Asia, which was historically Britain's backyard.

Used to be the great game. Now its pure cancer, nerve gas, polonium, squatting slavs who themselves are being taken over by Muslims.

Rivalry started once Russia displayed continental ambitions during the Crimea(or ottoman Russian war)
They allied with France could destroy Prussia the Netherlands and Spain
There rise came as the ottomans fell

The UK are still bitter over what happened to the Romanovs.

Crimean War.
Europe almost conquered Constantinople, liberated balkans, creating early colonies in middle east, but bong and frogs had to be autistic as usual.

That's a pol meme u dip t.Pol

Yeah, because colonies in the Middle East have in long term history been exactly what Europe needs to fight multi-culturalism. If Russia had conquered Turkey and more of the Middle East it would probably be even more Muslim than it is now.

Welp, that 'bout covers it alright

No, but western countries like the U.K. have made it their goal to antagonize Russia ever since the collapse of the USSR. Why? For 2 main reasons.

Firstly, Russia is a convenient boogeyman to use to keep NATO alive because it became obsolete when the USSR fell. NATO is hugely important to these western countries because it allows them to overthrow regimes in other countries they don't like. Secondly, Russia won't bend over for NATO and the European Union which of course infuriates the elites who run it. Russia actually respects national sovereignty and has resisted all of the aggressive western expansion against them.

>implying anyone with ANY influence gives a fuck about reclaiming some mudshit city that long ago had looted/sold anything of its former character
Men who run the world give a shit about making money, spiting rivals and looking a few years into the future, tops. A re-Christianized Istanbul is an abstract concept, usually appealing to autists only. A galvanized Russia that conquered the Ottoman Empire and enriched by all of its former possessions? Immediate and terrifying and needing to be stopped at once. Do you even The Great Game?

They gave less of a fuck about Russia getting all the riches. There was no way all three of those Great Powers were going to play nice and share Istanbul. The British didn't want the Russians to have it, and if it came down to it they didn't want the French to have it either. Better to keep it in the hands of "the sick man of Europe" than an actual competitor.

Do you understand now?

0.05 Rubles have been deposited in your account Ivan.

Nice argument.

Britain had constantinople in its possession after WW1 but they gave it back

Probably didn't help that the communists killed the king's cousin.

This is a good post.
