tuna is too stinky
2/10

I'd rather live on protein shakes made with warm water

Eat 400gr of tuna for 5 years without trying to lose weight.
Then after 5 years go on a crash diet and plummet down to 160lbs or so.
You are now master of alchemy.
Report back with results.

Try canned salmon
If you find the right brand it has about the same amount of protein for the same amount of food.

dude tuna causes mercury, dont eat more than 1 can a week or youll die fagget

>tuna causes mercury
a-user, do you know what mercury is?

Don't buy it canned, retardinho

heavy metal, tuna accumulates it and if you eat too much you get Pepsi'd?

Too expensive.

t. poorfag

Sardines > tuna

OP here, poorfag from australia, its 2 dollarydoos for 400g of canned tuna in brine, no other protein source is so cheap without resorting to powedered ass

please poorfag, where do you get your brotein if canned fucking tuna is too expensive?

Chicken is a bit cheaper.

Then buy seitan, in my 3rd world country it is even cheaper and has 75g of protons per 100g of produce.

In here it goes like this (from most expensive to cheapest): top tier veal/beef > tuna > lamb > other fish (other than tuna ofc) > pork > goose > duck > chicken > beans on par with seitan.

Just so you know the scale of this - beef is around 20-25 bucks per kg, 1kg of chicken breast is around 6-8 bucks.

You can get a whole roasted chicken for 5-7 bucks here

auzfag here how do i make seitan, all sites i can find say its fake meat stew, sounds good but im an ignorant cunt

Take 2kg of flour, just regular white flour, nothing fancy. Put as much water in it to acquire dough consistency, I won't give you specific numbers, but I hope you know what is 'dough' consistency. Then you put the whole thing in extremely cold water. Afterward you fiddle with it with your fingers so the starch leaves the mass. But you gotta be careful not to press the dough too hard or else it will fall apart. The water will get this milky colour and then you change for clear one. Repeat for as many times as needed to get clear water.

sounds gross AF

ILL TRY SEMPAI THANKS FOR NOTICING ME

Sounds tempting as fuck, too bad its literally called satan and is made of 110% flour, this will ruin my GI tract, but i'll try anything at this point

Umm I'd appreciate it if you didn't post pictures of me, thanks.

I ate at least 1 can of tuna a day, sometimes more, for fucking 2 years. Unless your entire diet is nothing but tuna you'll be fine.

Jesus why is chicken so expensive. I get 2.5-3 kg of chicken for around that price.

Don't eat meat, dairy, or eggs

Hope this helps

Mercury poisoning is not a meme, so I just stick to Sardines

Low on the food chain and relatively short lifespans mean they have negligible amounts of mercury, I high suggest looking it up and then trying some King Oscar.

Buy Boneless and skinless if you're looking for something more similar to canned tuna

>Mercury poisoning is not a meme
Except it is.

You're an inbred piece of shit, you know that? AboutSeafood is run by the National Fisheries Institute, AKA the trade group that represents the US seafood industry. You're buying their propaganda hook like and sinker. Get it? Of course you don't, you're a retarded nigger

Tastes and smells like whale pussy.

Why did it take so long for someone to recommend sardines?

There are very few foods that are truly "faultless" and sardines are one of them. Cheap as fuck too. Eat them.

And Mercury is not a meme. I've seen several posts over the years on Veeky Forums, Reddit and bb.com of people who got Mercury poisoning. I value anecdotal evidence like that more than shill research

Wtf are you talking about, "protein percentage is too good to pass up". Any meat has a good enough protein percentage that it becomes irrelevant to compare. You know what has a protein percentage that fucking shits on your stinky heavy metal riddled meat from the polluted and plastified ocean ? Protein powder.

>comes from the ocean
>perfect

Pick one seatard.

No but seriously seafood might have been great 100 years ago, now you can look up studies on microplastics and how fishes eat them. We used the ocean to litter our trash, don't eat from it. When it comes to soft water farms, the practices are even worse.

Idiot but that's the point. Sardines are very low on the food chain, they don't eat any of that shit.

Sardines breh
I see em in Coles for a dollar a can
Last time they were on special I picked up the entire shelf

Are they even good to eat whole? Or do I need to prep and cook them first. I need me an easy snack

Salmon is GOAT

Only prep is opening them down the middle and removing the spine, takes 3 seconds and no knife (just wash your hands of the fish smell)

You can eat them straight out of the can, or you can fry them in a pan. Unlike tuna they come as entire fish so you don't have to stir fry

>seafood companies 'dispelling the myth' of mercury poisoning
Gee, I wonder why.

Some doctor I know had an all fish diet and actually got mercury poisoning

Not even the guy but there is literally 0 studies that show mercury poisoning caused by canned Tuna for an average male adult.
I am more than happy to see any evidence you guys have for otherwise.

you make that sound like a bad thing

audible wheezing kek

I eat 6 small cans (12 portions) of chunk light skipjack tuna a week. Supplement the of my fish intake with 2 bigger cans of pink salmon (14 portions). Skipjack tuna tends to be smaller and dies younger than other tuna varieties/mercury ridden fish, so according to my age/weight/gender should be within WHO limits.

Canned tuna tastes better than the disgusting shit that is canned salmon

Eatting some now, big batch of tuna put into soup, knocks the flavor of the tuna down to a respectable level

This, why the fuck is canned salmon so gross? The fresh stuff is godly. And it's not even a matter of what I'm used to, because I like both canned and fresh tuna.
Canned salmon is pretty great when cooked into rissoles though, but that's like its only use.

a pound of seitan a day and BCAAs is all you need for your protons.

I've been doing it for a year and except for shitting blood twice a day everything is fine.

Do you have experience on this subject?

what the fuck? where does flour get all this protein from nowhere?

>tfw 5 cans a day

Why would you eat something that has mercury

you know, most things don't have mercury, and you aren't supposed to eat any.

Yeah this guy isn't dead yet so apparently mercury isn't toxic as fuck

>pseudoscience
>/chaosandpain.blogspot.
real credible haha

sardines have mercury too

why are you eating this shit?

how are you this fucking stupid? do you think flour has no protein?

There is no safe amount of mercury to ingest. Just because you don't notice problems from it, doesn't mean you aren't harming your body.

"The mercury content in fish may help explain links found between fish intake and mental disorders, depression, and suicide.

We know that mercury in fish can cause neurological damage, such as negative effects on Alzheimer disease, memory loss, and autism as well as depression.

So, the increased risk of suicide among persons with a high fish intake might be attributable to the harmful effects of mercury in fish."

>the scientists forgot about some variable

It's part of their job to adjust for that.

First 3 have literally nothing to do with mercury

From the fourth study "he results suggest that high intakes of fruit, vegetables, fish, and whole grains may be associated with a reduced depression risk."
Fifth ,sixth seventh, Eighth nothing on mercury
From Ninth study Subjects with a moderate consumption of fish (third and fourth quintiles of consumption: median of each quintile 83.3 and 112 g/day, respectively) had a relative risk reduction higher than 30%.
tenth and eleventh had nothing on mercury causing death.

You are legit a typical retard that I would expect to watch Dr.Oz and spout random shit. Next time post the study that proves your point rather than make me wade through that pointless shit.

Did you actually read any of the studies you just posted?
>Omega 3s aren't completely correlated to help depression
>Plasma carotenoids may have effect on depression
>suicide rate in EU
>Mediterranean diet and cardiovascular health
Yeah anything about Mercury levels affecting brain function? About direct causation of Mercury to Alzheimers or Autism? Or was this just about looking like you researched something by searching peer reviewed studies about depression and diet even though irrelevant?

This is how science works though. They don't just use 1 study to make 1 claim. They look at all kinds of variables and do a lot of math and testing to learn from them.

You can deny science without being so hostile fyi ;)

Ah yes the I'm retarded defense mechanism, what did I expect from someone that posts videos as sources.

>this is how science works
This is how logical fallacies work

people on this board place protein at a way higher place that it really needs to be. you don't need to potentially give yourself mercury poisoning just to get muh gainz. 200g of protein a day is unnecessary, no matter your body size (assuming you're natural). like fuck, don't be such a god damn retard.

There is no chance of mercury poisoning though.
200g is unnecessary for 99% of this board since the absorption rates are at all time high due to being young.

I don't meant to be dismissive. Do you want some more information?

Perhaps, I was teasing you a bit. I don't have a more compelling message than the science right now.

Mercury is bad though, there are much safer food options.

>Dietary risk factors and physical inactivity collectively accounted for 10·0% (95% UI 9·2-10·8) of global DALYs in 2010, *with the most prominent dietary risks being diets low in fruits and those high in sodium.*
>Long-term consumption of MeHg-contaminated fish and seafood by residents living *near this contaminated area* may have persistent effects on their cognitive function. *We suggest a follow-up study* to monitor the long-term health effects on the residents living near this deserted plant.
>We did not find evidence that intake of n-3 PUFAs or fish lowered the risk of completed suicide.(this was testing whether eating fish lowered their desire to commit suicide in high-risk careers because half of the examples were of Omega-3 fatty acids as an anti-depressant)

Plz user, I'd love a causative link because I do enjoy tuna, but I think you're just citing irrelevancy

Some of the people studied here were wealthy people Florida

They were eating so much seafood that they exceeded the EPA’s safety limit for mercury by 43%.

Looks like they were eating more than 1 serving of fish per week.

These people suffered a 5% loss in cognitive performance.

You can read the transcript of the video here
nutritionfacts.org/video/fish-brain-food-older-adults/

You're arguing with a person that is unable to read his own studies or a single study and has to rely on videos. You're wasting your time here. He's your typical average iq retard.

mercury does not get flushed out of your system if the weekly dosage is more than lets say 150g
if you continue eating it heavily, say goodbye to your failing organs in 5-6

>typical average iq retard
You don't sound all that intelligent yourself. Average people can understand these studies perfectly fine.

I don't rely on videos, they're just a lot easier to share than a dozen links. They're put together so well considering how much information goes into them.

You're physically unable to post a single study and argue your point. Instead you rely on videos and irrelevant links literally 60% of the links you posted had nothing to do with fish.
>Average people can understand these studies perfectly fine.
So it's just difficult for you then ? So you're sub average iq I change my statement.

The links are relevant, as they're the sources for the videos I posted.

So it's just difficult for you then ?
There's no need to be so hostile. Especially when you're the one having difficulty understanding the connections being made here. You might understand things better if you calm down.

Anybody eat this shit? I used to love this shit on toast as a kid. I just looked it up and a decent sized serving of this shit is 28g. 0 carbs too. Would rather eat this shit than a single scoop, and is about ~$3/70g of protein if you buy in bulk, only a little bit more expensive per gram of protein than the higher end protein powders ($40 jugs).

>The links are relevant, as they're the sources for the videos I posted.
The links are irrelevant for the claims you made thus they're irrelevant to the discussion at hand.

Nobody is angry here, I see idiots like you all the time in healthcare you're sad more than anything.

Everybody calm down, a can or two of tuna every week won't do shit, but that pill you took or that thing you snorted last week from a total stranger just might actually kill you

T H I C C

You clicked on the articles hoping that they would be irrelevant, so you focused on the less relevant details.

I see "idiots" like you every day too. It's very easy to live in denial. Perfectly natural, so I'm not really calling you an idiot. Just very very normal.

When I have a bunch of vegetables left over I usually throw them in a big pan with with one can of corned beef and heat it all up. It's pretty great

Most tinned tuna is fucking skipjack which has fuck all mercury. Mercury poisoning from tuna is LITERALLY a fucking dipshit meme.

>You clicked on the articles hoping that they would be irrelevant, so you focused on the less relevant details.
So which parts of the articles are relevant since myself and the other user are clearly in the wrong and have bias against this, would you mind quoting them.

That's okay lad (although you seem more like a middle aged woman ) keep drinking the Dr Gregg koolaid

Do you think it would be wise for me to go over every detail of the science with you?

Is that a good use of my time? You're really don't seem open to new information.

>Do you think it would be wise for me to go over every detail of the science with you?
You don't need every detail just quote the relevant part from the study that shows a causation link between mercury poisoning.

I'm sure Ctrl-c, Ctrl-v is a fairly simple enough task for a wise scientist such as yourself to carry out.

See, you misunderstand what I was saying from the beginning. The studies showed a correlation, between fish consumption, suicide, and cognitive impairment.

Next time please don't be so defensive because that was a huge waste of our time.

So where was the correlation, which part of the studies?

Can't wait to eat literal human shit.

Can you quote them please.

Are you okay? Where did the guy imply that, is reading difficult for you? How do you manage day to day life do you need help breathing?

I just quoted my post

here it is again nutritionfacts.org/video/fish-brain-food-older-adults/

The important bit quoted here:

"Excessive seafood intake, which they defined as like more than three to four servings per month of fishes, like tunas or snappers, elevates mercury levels and causes cognitive dysfunction. Not much, only about a 5% drop in cognitive performance, but a decrement that no one, let alone a health conscious and achievement-oriented person, is likely to welcome."

not an argurment

Sorry for being unclear can you tell me the study where this claim was gotten, I was reading the transcript and it doesn't reference the study directly.
