I'm not trying to excuse shitty behaviour, but this pissed me off too, probably more so. Either medical costs are inflated to such ridiculous levels that it's a figure that probably never manifests outside paperwork or it's an effort to demonise or guilt trip the public.

Ambulances for example. Herein the UK if you didn't technically need the ambulance you pay for it. Fair enough. And you could argue that someone else might have needed it. But to state it costs 'hundreds and hundreds' of pounds for two average-wage paras to spend 20 minutes, using a tiny amount of fuel, to take you to a local hospital no way cost up towards a thousand.

What's more stupid are the sheets that have popped up in recent years listing the costs in local surgeries. 'Each breath of air on this premises costs the NHS £200'. Some of its ludicrous.
