Who's forcing you to do SL 5x5?
Never done rows with a barbell in my 5+ years of lifting and my back is fucking stupidly overdeveloped compared to other body-parts like my arms.
DESU you don't want a big back, it's shit, big arms are better.
What I've done for a big back (important first)
1. Weighted Pullups (heavy as you can go while keeping decent form - 4-6 rep range)
2. Dumbbell Rows (heavy as you can go while keeping decent form - 4-6 rep range)
3. Bodyweight Pullups (high rep to fail)
4. Cable Rows (focus on high reps to fail)
Do T-Bar rows
can pull-ups be interchanged with chin-ups? how many times a week?
Why not just do weighted chin ups
Barbell rows make my lower back hurt. Prob got shit form
snatch-grip deadlifts, machine rows, dumbbell rows, power cleans, lat pulldowns, weighted chins, rack pulls...
the list goes on. for the purpose of developing DL strength, which is why pendlays are in SL5x5, i'd recommend rack pulls, cheaty db rows or power cleans. (snatch-grip might be too much for your routine.)
Are you really missing out on much if you do cable rows only? Barbell rows usually hurt my back.

I hate rows just because it's so easy to cheat on them. Especially on pendlay rows
Then do cable rows
These are all great alternatives, I actually enjoy doing Rows personally but if you hate them that much then find different exercises dingus.
