>suck a lot of dick
>believe in hippie bullshit
>sit in an empty room doing absolutely nothing
Meditation is for faggots.
Learn to relax without having to blow dudes.

there is plenty of research on the effects of meditation, consider suicide

>meditation is doing nothing

>look up 10 day vipassana course
>commit to 10 days of losing physical gains for mental gains

>muh research
Feminists use the same bullshit for the wage gap myth, it's bullshit

Find a good porn that gets you real hard then start stroking

>claims meditation works
>tells somebody to an hero

what's it good for?

not him but this isn't social research. do you think MRIs are a feminist conspiracy too? see i get that you're young and don't think meditation will do anything for you and that's fine but don't go around claiming that it doesn't for anyone when there's evidence to the contrary/

Focus, easier to focus whatever you need to and maintain it for longer duration. General calmness and awareness. I find myself seldom getting angry when dealing with ignorance, stupidity etc. Noticing emotions arising and dealing with them appropriately is easier. It's not magic though and the gains are usually only noticable after regular practice is halted for some time and old habit patterns re-emerge. Note that all of this is anecdotal, I dont hace studies to supply.

XD LOL!!!

have an bump

not sure if you're autistic but the only reason the wage gap is bullshit is because you can actually look at the research and point exactly where they went wrong - you can't do this with the meditation research because 1. it is not equally flawed and 2. even if it was, you'd be too unintelligent to recognize it

>thinks mediating means you'll want to share the Earth with stupid people

You realize the yakuza meditate, right?

Meditation works, improves your brains function. Anyone openly angry with meditation probably has tried it and struggled.

anti anxiety
focus
I had a problem with insomnia and lately I have been sleeping 9 hours a night.

re-posting this classic infopic

I only do guided meditations.I use a couple meditation apps. "Aware" and also "Mindfulness"

I like it a lot and meditate every night. I don't really mind if people think it's hippy bullshit, they're welcome to try it for themselves and come to their own conclusions.
It works for me so I'll continue doing it.
That said, a lot of it is mental, if you come into it thinking it's bullshit it likely won't do you much good.
Try to keep an open mind about it if you're willing to try it.

You're mistaking meditation for being a purely spiritual act. Yes, this is how it originated, but you can simply think of it as you making brain gains.

When you meditate, blood rushes to certain areas of your brain in a similar fashion to how it rushes to your muscles when you exercise.
Repeat it enough times and your brain will literally physically adapt. More grey matter will be present and as a result your brain works more efficiently and you become better in areas of self control, self awareness, concentration, focus and stress management. Even if you completely ignore the physical changes, the mental ones in and of themselves justify it. The process of meditating, the way you have to zone in on your breathing, can be applied to tackle negative thoughts and thought frames.

This isn't even hippy wishy washy snake oil bullshit with no proof. Meditation has compiled hundreds of studies. Everything from MRI scans to your standard study format. It has noticeably helped people with anxiety, depression, attention deficit, pain management etc. Why? Because you're improving the parts of your brain responsible for that by training it with meditation.

What's the conclusion? Meditation is great and you're a moron. Don't pretend to know topics you don't.

FUCK I need to meditate again, been waking up at 2:30 and feeling like crap throughout the day.

Turn off lights
Turn off phone
Turn off TV
Just sit there.

Begin by becoming comfortsble with silent darkness.

Read "Zen Mind, Beginners Mind"

Its about zen bhuddist philosophies but paraphrased in a way westerners can understand easier. It gets you in the right headspace to start meditating seriously. I do it about once a week now, feels good man.

fix your sleep schedule user

I got something to say to you, you little none empire defending bitch.

Everytime I try to wake up at 5:00 and meditate in the morning, go do my day and go to bed at 21:00 I just don't get sleepy. I had the same problem at a meditation retreat, I was sleepy throughout the day. No electronic devices of course.
I get somewhat normal sleep when I waste my time here untill 00:00 and wake up at 8:00. But for school it's best I wake up 5:00-6:00.

Not him. But it’s not always this, I wake at 5:45am every weekday and work until 5:30, training until 7:30, home by 9:00, bed by 9:45.

Awake at 3:45am no problem.

Do acid
Experience enlightenment
Meditate properly
Abandon earthly pursuits
Ascend
>Profit

Meditation isn't about feeling good. Its about seeing reality as it is and loosening your bounds with it. Meditation is about becoming the way. If you get it, you get it.

Here's a hack. If you do this right, you'll experience satori. youtu.be/ybFmYNIkl2U

Are you doing this? I did vipassana 10 day retreat a few years ago. Highly recommend

>Abandon earthly pursuits
Honorable. But mistaken. Abandoning the subconscious apparatus the universe gave us is betraying your own humanity. So tell me, how is reality really then???

I enjoy meditating before Karate/Kickboxing/etc. I kinda feel the bad vibes inside and surrounding me shattering, leaving only space for my training. I don't use meditation on the regular, I wonder how that would work outside of practice. Mainly because I meditate in order to "wake up" to the thing I'm trying to do. Either way, doing it right before something that needs your complete attention really does wonder. You can just focus on that and leave real life behind.

It depends on your genetics and your soul whether you're able to exist as a living embodiment of spirit. If you aren't meant to go that path, you won't. I never managed to integrate a proper spiritual code for myself in the living world, I just got to the root then moved on. I'm an all or nothing kind of guy.

You don't need to destroy the ego or betray your subconscious apparatus, when you inquire deep enough into yourself you experience reality differently, radically differently. I haven't gone in for years, but I remember. It's always there, and it can't be betrayed. God is omnipresent.

Just keeping doing it till you get it.

When you apply proper and appropriate research methods to studying 'the wage gap', gender is generally not a variable accounting for a meaningful amount of variance. Surprisingly, years in education tends to be the important factor when considering pay differentials.

i voted for trump, the post.

Yup, that's gettin saved

tfw i read on my android

If anons here havent read this, its like powerlifting for your mental gainz

That book isn't about meditating you colossal faggot. A better title for it would be "Reflections" or "My Diary DESU"

Was a recommendation. I've done it also, second time was just 2 mo ago

My take on this whole thing, great boons

>can train your mind to do more cool things
Like better control of your sleep, better ability to deal with reality (stress reduction without the need of aids like cigarettes)
>development of prefontal cortex gives you a retreat from the default network mode (monkey mind which easily overloads)
>possible manual control of bodily parts (seems to be very advanced stuff though)
>better awareness of body parts (seems easier to attain, also makes it much easier to do well in other sports if you are aware how your muscles move)

but the bad side is
>reduction of amygdala size
>buddist, non scientific lore is basically jewish kaballah lore of stupid one ness

So my question is, can one train the mind without using any of the religious components? I have found some, that westeners make, guided meditation sessions but they are obviously super beginner levels, but at least they are actually neutral and non hippy if you look good enough. Can you also somehow train both your amygdala to remain or increase in size while also increasing the prefrontal cortex?

I have theorized on it and I suspect that stress, may not be a component of the amygdala, could you increase both by doing a cycle of some sort, like cutting and bulking lol?

Yeah you're a dumbass, meditation is exactly about feeling good. Keep your LSD pseudo enlightenment to yourself

this

Thousands of years of people practicing meditation vs some fedora edgelord on the internet

You try focusing on only breathing for 1000 deep, intentional, slow breaths. It's self control, elimination of the white noise in the mind, and learning to breath intentionally. It requires no assumptions of spirit or chi or what have you.

Dipshit.

Calm down yoda, this is real life.
