i wasnt any good in school (didnt work for shit outside of class) and i fucking hated school as well.

i dont get why our education and future are dictated by the actions we take in the formative years of our life rather than when we're adults. i couldnt fucking think long term as a teenager but now im okay at it

In burgerland, your shot of breaking into bulge bracket investment banking is by going to a top tier school like the Ivies or Stanford where they focus their recruiting efforts. These schools are target schools.
Prestigious schools that are not Tier 1s but nonetheless have a national reputation are considered near target.
Regional schools without a national rep are considered nontarget, and you'll see little if any recruiting presence by BB IB firms there for analyst roles. You really have to be the top 5% of your class or your daddy better be rich as fuck to even have a shot of breaking in.

It really isn't depending on what you study and how much aid you get. I got a ton of financial aid from school because I had a 98% SAT score and the rest of my classmates are spoiled rich kids who couldn't get into a better school or they're Chinese internationals who just need a meme degree before fucking off back to China to work for their parents.

I don't know, man. Trade jobs are pretty manly/respectable. I respect trade guys more than the guys on Veeky Forums with high paying but mundane nerd jobs like programming or being a sys admin or whatever.

A 98% SAT score isn't even that hard. It's a 2200 +/- 100.

Explain. Do you mean the fact that our most prestigious schools are private universities who are free to make their own admissions criteria? Excellence is excellence, no matter where you go. All the best students want to go to private schools or a UC and I don't blame them considering how lax state university policies are.

Was a very good student in an elite middle school but I moved in a rural area and went to shit high school and stopped doing homework. I still graduated with pretty good grades and went to first year pre med but I failed. And here I am.

I went to Michigan State Economics failed out and now go to a smaller school for history education

Same kind of jobs I've been applying for. I'm not very good at interviewing, but I'm slowly getting better. Even when the interview goes well, I follow up later and they tell me they're pursuing other candidates

Junior year now at the 2nd cheapest state school in Pennsylvania. Came in as business management, then when the whole Bernie frenzy happened I got right on board. So I switched to political science. And then, I got invited to the communication department (essentially all liberal, post modernist left leaning professors) and I got on board because I have superior communication skills. I was exceptional in my public speaking course and was invited to that department, so I added it as a second major.
I've also been interested in the Middle East since I played Civ V, so I took some history courses on the Middle East and I'm in Arabic 3 now, studied abroad in Morocco. So my third major is Arabic alongside a Middle East history minor.
In addition to this, I'm a resident assistant (free housing+board+biweekly 200$ paycheck for babysitting). When my dad adopted me (still, he married my
Biological mom and treated me as a son, but literally a case of "my wife's son") his grandfather was loaded from the military industrial complex. So I have college paid for by him (he's dead) to a total of around 50,000. So essentially, I'll be debt free.
After colllege, I either want to go do some fuckshit like teach English in some weird ass country like Tunisia, work as a cook for a while and eventually figure out what type of law I want to do. So I fell for the meme but I /sorta/ got it figured out. After all.... it's all who you know, and I know everyone.

Even if they remove all set aside places for minorities, both racial and sexual, you still wouldn't get in.
