Tfw I once thought these numbers were referring to times bodyweight

>not deadlifting 4 times your body weight
lmao dyel
There seems to be a million different opinions on what these numbers mean.
theres about 2 lol
Hello new friend, seems you haven’t been here long. I’ve seen arguments over this topic.
Name 5 more possible meanings.
>QUICK NAME 10 THINGS THAT ARENT PL8S
Plates (which is true)
x100 pounds (which is somewhat reasonable)
x Bodyweight (which is ridiculous)
Is all I can come up with.
Reps
BIRDS, TERIYAKI, CARS, PLATES FUCK
Literally retarded
>not pulling lmao9pl8
How do these subhumans even live with themselves?
Who /4rep/ masterrace here?
>a bench mark which marks you as a serious lifter
>the bench mark that marks you as an intermediate lifter
>weight that someone should be able to reach under a year
>weight that someone should be able to reach under 6 months
>weight that might take someone multiple years and a dedicated routine to reach
I guess that’s 5. Not sure if that’s what you meant, but for each person, 1/2/3/4 means something different. While it’s an easy bench mark for some, for others it’s nearly impossible. It’s like running a sub 5 minute mile, some can do it while they are 15, some will never be able to do it.
If you've been here so long you'd have realized that those "arguments" are new friends arguing with trolls. 1,2,3,4 has one meaning and everyone here who lifts and isn't shitposting for the lulz knows it.
Nope, we're still at
>plates
>bodyweight
What else does it mean morons... 5 more examples... go.
Fuck your piece of shit penis sucker
the first guy got it

>pl8 for reps
>pl8 for 1rm
I never got this meme
>the goal achievement for OHP, bench, squat and deadlift are the number of plates that happen to be 45lbs
this shit is so arbitrary
As are most things in life like being 6' tall and boobs being sexualized. Things have meaning because we give them meaning. It's nothing new.
It's (usually) the largest 'plate' in American gyms. Why /not/ count like that
If you think it's arbitrary, (I agree), then just ignore it lol
The numbers make no sense anyway.
They should be in kg not pounds.
130lb ohp, 260 bench, 390 squat, 520 dl in my case. totally doable. is everybody on Veeky Forums a fucking fatass who weighs 240lbs?
I was actually thinking about this the other day. I feel like times body weight would actually be better since it is more relative per person.
It wouldn't. Bodyweight is a shit scale for absolute strength because it breaks down so badly when comparing different bodyweights. Those numbers are barely nationals-level for the smallest guys but up into world fucking record territory for the big dudes.
Also a 4xBW deadlift ain't happening for most people ever. Without getting popped for drugs, about three people have managed it weighing above 150. With gear, the number is still barely into the double digits outside the midget classes.

Is this a sign I'll hit 2pl8 bench tmw?
ye I'm drug-free and lifting almost 4xbw in diddlys..
143lbs and ~495 dl with like 2 years on/off training
>implying you will ever hit 225
They don't because they trigger Veeky Forums mediocrity.
it mean being able to do one rep of
60kg OHP
100kg bench
140kg squat
180kg deadlift
t. midget and/or female
oh fuck.
um..
Barbells, water, Jackie Ch- FUCK
Fuck, they don't? I was just about to join that club, what do I have to do to gain membership now?
