Any knight could beat any samurai with one hand while taking a piss with the other, but you do have to appreciate how well the samurai did for themselves with such shit resources available.

the killing power of crossbows is grossly exaggerated.
A spear will do extremely little against armour, armour was designed to deflect exactly those kinds of attacks.
A bludgeoning weapon is far more effective, projectiles just lack the mass.

during the crusades historic notes are found refering to the crusaders running around like pin cushions, covered in the saracan arrows. Their armour would stop all their shots and they would just kind of stick out. 20,000 bows vs 200 knights doesnt help when none of them can pierce their armour, just as an example. Sometimes quality does trump quantity in every possible way.
