Alcohol before bed

I have trouble sleeping, having 2-4 beers before bed makes it alot easier to get to sleep. Been lifting for 1 and a half years and about to go on my first cut for summer (NZ), will this drinking impact a lot on my cut? Ive seen some posters say how bad beer is with its carbs and such.

Should I cut alcohol before bed out entirely?
Hesitant about switching to spirits because they taste like they belong in a cars engine.

Don't know probably best not to consume alcohol for a cut if you want the best results. For myself I have done fine while still drinking but I'm an alcoholic and won't quit drinking.

alcohol may help you fall asleep but it decreases your sleep quality. Have you tried supplements? I take ZMA and occasionally melatonin which puts me out like nothing

Do you drink spirits/wine/beer? I also think i will struggle to quit drinking

i have tried sleeping pills before and they didnt do shit. these were simple sleeping pills tho from a chinese pharmacy

I don't like wine. My choice of drink is usually a clear spirit like Vodka, I actually like mixing my drinks with juice. Good for day drinking. Whiskey is another favorite, I drink that straight. More recently to get drunk faster I've been mixing 1-2 shots of whiskey in with my beer then pounding it as fast as I can.

I do cardio and lift everyday to maintain some semblance of health. I also smoke. My job requires me to be sober however so certain times before, during, and after work I am sober. All free time for the most part I am not. I have times where I do not drink for days but when I do drink it's to the point of nearly blacking out.

Ironically, I am happy with my life.

In that case you may actually lose weight faster by being a heavy drinker. Drink clear spirits without a lot of sugar. Mostly empty calories, avoid beer. If you are a NEET with shit to do, then you can drink more like an alcoholic. Eat light meals before working out to stave off hunger pains and maintain hydration by drinking water. Once you are done for the day, being drinking until you are very drunk. If you are drunk enough you can forgot about eating which will help you do longer intermediate fasts. Also alcohol does some weird shit I don't understand where it helps you lose weight, probably because it is poison and you are dying.

Jumping in here. Drinking is literally the only social thing I have and it seems to be my only way to relax - I'll drink 5/7 nights a week now. Budweiser and only that.

Is it having a large effect on my gains? My weight is staying fairly constant ie I'm recomping without watching macros etc but I'm wondering does sleeping drunk after a workout have much of an effect on muscle growth? There'll be no shortage of protein cause if I workout and then go out drinking I'll have a big steak for dinner.

When you say alcoholic, do you mean a binge alcoholic, like get hammered 2-3 times a week in the evening. Or maintenance like all day errday

I honestly don't have enough free time to become a heavy drinker. My first lectures are at 9am and last is 1-3pm, i go to the gym 3:30-4:30pm then work from 5pm-11pm.
This is mon-thurs, i have fridays off to socialise and weekends i work 1-7pm. Not that i really want to become a raging alcoholic anyway, I started subtly drinking at work a while back after my dad had died and my coworkers noticed.

Binge. I have to be binge because on some days I need to be completely sober because of my job.

Had 9 bottles last night in an hour. On a night in, 2-4 pints if depending if I have uni or work the next day, on a proper night out we'd be talking 12-15 pints.

I'm 19, it's called the student lifestyle for a reason lol. But yeah I know I need to cut down. Just have nothing else to do, lifting and going out drinking are my only two hobbies as such.

Basically I'm just trying to get girls, so I lift for that but I go ut drinking to meet them- issue is I'll get a few numbers then not stop drinking. I've never stopped drinking by choice, I always go until the bar closes.

You do realize that having no other hobbies apart from training and drinking doesn't exactly make you the kind of guy girls go after, yes?
In fact, the reason you have to drink to approach girls is you have only these two hobbies, making you a dull and uninteresting person. Interests are cool, try them sometime.
Besides, I highly doubt you're successful with girls if you end up shitfaced every night out. A few beers to get buzzed are ok, getting fucked uo every night out isn't, especially if you wanna get laid.

Damn that was truthful I'm actually successful enough, but that's normally when I'm sober/getting started. I just don't have time to follow up with hobbies atm, between work and uni. I used to go hiking and shooting, make my own fireworks, play hockey, few machining projects on the go

You spend hours per week drinking so clearly you could be using that time for something else. You just don't want to. Stop claiming you are too busy you lying retard.

Alcohol makes it easier for you to sleep because that is what you have been using to sleep. Stop using it, sleep will suck for a month or two, then your body will learn how to sleep without it.

Stop drinking alcohol. While you asjust off it try a supp called "crash", it actually seemed to give me a decent sleep.

Yes you do, you have the time. Quit drinking this much is a starter. I'm not saying to quit drinking entirely, that's autistic, a couple drinks once in a while never killed anybody. To me it was simply a change of attitude that helped. When I stopped being a backpacker, went home and started lifting again, I had no more interest in drugs and alcohol, I wanted to get fit again and learn things. Again, in not saying I quit drinking entirely, I still enjoy a few drinks every other weekend, but I haven't got wasted in more than a year. I don't even feel the need or desire to.

Just try picking up your old hobbits again, or find new ones. Keep yourself occupied. Soon you'll find yourself too absorbed in your passions and interests to want to waste time on binge drinking again.

Be wary of blaming things on your surroundings, tho. Change and motivation come from within. My home is in a secluded area in buttfucking nowhere in northern Italy, and I constantly see most of the people my age waste their days. doing shit jobs and drinking all the time when they aren't working because they have no idea how to pass the time. It isn't this place's fault though, because I also see people be successful and achieve things. It's a matter of different mentality.
You have to strive for what's good for you, what you desire, your dreams and aspiration. This way you'll be fulfilled and alcohol won't be needed to fill the gaping hole in your chest.

That's how you quit drinking before you fucking become a full fledged alcoholic. You'll realize you got there when you'll find yourself unable to function in your day to day life without alcohol.
