What is /fast/? Fast is a thread for the discussion of intermittent fasting, fasting, water fasting, and fat fasting While fasting alone is fantastic for your health, Consider doing a ketogenic in addition to become god mode
Too many youtube links, not enough peer reviewed material that people should actually be reading desu
Landon Myers
Do you drink coffee between fasts?
Robert Nelson
dryfasting.com
Eli Torres
I'm not typically the moron who's posting this shit. I just saw the post limit reached.
I'm one of the other fasting user's who uses it to help train fatfucks to lose weight and cure their fucking diabetes.
I've been meaning to put together a bunch of material instead of these bullshit links.
Carter Jenkins
FAT FASTING IS SUPERIOR TO ANY OTHER METHOD
PROVE ME WRONG YOU CANT
Parker Nelson
i am gonna finish my 5 day dryfast now. time to fucking shower and let some water slightly touch my tongue
Jaxson Watson
you say fat fasting. do you mean taper of to 0 cals and a regular water fast. or even in a regular water fast you still eat?
Carter Martinez
YOU TAPER OFF THE FAT UNTIL YOU APPROACH A REGULAR WATER FAST.
Brayden Hall
So let's say I wanted to eat only once every 48 hours to make the most of my yohimbine hcl supplement. Would I need to eat twice the calories to cover the previous meal I missed or just what I would have normally eaten that day?
Jack Flores
you're literally retarded
Parker Wright
I barely had anything to drink today
Jacob Torres
HELLO, PLUTO MY OLD FRIEND.
Anthony Jones
Alright, I'm here to hopefully dispel any of your dry fasting fears.
I hope you guys can ask me about anything that is preventing you from dry fasting, which I feel is the most enjoyable and effective way to fast
feel free to ask me about:
1) electrolyte imbalances 2) kidney stones 3) "starvation mode" 4) endogenous ketones and water 5) your body consuming its own muscles on longer fasts
Angel James
How do you deal with hunger suppression? I feel like I need water to prevent me from going insane the first couple days.
Also, are the benefits of dry fasting really worth not providing your body with hydration for days on end? Seems kinda retarded, no offense
Ian Wood
Haha yeah no worries, when I did my first dry fast, I legitimately thought it was a meme designed to kill people, and yet here I am pretty impressed by it
So I've done a number of fasts now where I drank like 2-4 litres per day of water to take my mind off eating and make me feel full. Unfortunately that just resulted in water retention, and even worse, pretty severe electrolyte imbalances.
I had no idea how important sodium and potassium were to making you feel normal every day. Like without the correct amount of sodium and potassium in your body, you'll feel like you are going through a heroin withdrawal.
So on dry fasting everything feels normal to me, and I rately have hunger pangs or etc. If I do, they go away quickly. I think if you are suffering while fasting, you are doing something VERY wrong ahaha.
The benefits of dry fasting to me are as follows: loss of excess water (makes you look not-bloated), loss of fat (duh), and easier to maintain electrolyte balance.
Eventually though I do eat and drink within a very small refeeding window of 30 minutes. And then its back to fasting for 24-48 hours.
I do not suggest dry fasting for more than 72 hours, because once you lose 10% of your body's water, basic life functions begin to fail (unless you stocked up beforehand like snakeman)
Nathaniel Ortiz
I ate after 70 hour fast and now I feel like death. Are you niggers tricking me into getting anorexia?
Parker Cooper
himalayan salt yes/no?
Easton Smith
>try fasting >completely wreck my libido >get all the low test vegan soyboy diseases >get back to calorie restriction >situation doesn't improve, it gets even worse You have successfully memed me /fast/. Congratulations.
Adam Morris
>doesnt even fast long enough to get keto adapted. bitches
fuck off
Jeremiah Stewart
bow much did you eat? what specific symptoms are you experiencing? what did you eat and drink?
I haven't fasted above 72 hours but I never had any problems eating a normal sized meal. refeeding syndrom is for africans and auschwitz prisoners
bit of a meme in my opinion, but not terribly expensive. I use normal salt and no salt (potassium)
btw has anyone tasted the nosalt by itself? it's crazy, it burns like a motherfucker ahah
Angel Parker
not 100% necessary. The extra minerals may help though.
Austin Roberts
>Not even close. Best would be taking magnesium tablets while mixing potassium salt and regular salt into water. my pink salt has magnesium too as one of the extra minerals. check what else is in your pink salt
Charles Powell
>btw has anyone tasted the nosalt by itself Its fucking bitter and disgusting by itself.
Julian Peterson
ate 4 eggs with mushrooms and peppers like 50g ground beef 1 sliced tomato 2 avocadoes handful of almonds
Connor Mitchell
my dick is hard as a motherfucker on intermittent fasting
Ryder Hill
What did you eat? Specifics are usually good in cases like this.
A lot of the problems people have in regards to refeeding is that the body is not used to switching metabolic states. You suddenly stopped eating for the first time in EVER. didn't give the body anything to eat for 70 hours. And just as it's beginning to ramp up ketone production you threw a bunch of food at it.
There's two approaches I take in administering fasting to the fatfuck when it comes to refeeding. >light easily digested unrestricted meals Usually this approach when they don't want to change their diet significantly. That is to say they want to keep eating their regular diet. In this case we'll work on refeeding with smaller portioned meals for the first few meals or days after fasting depending on the length of the fast.
>modified keto/atkins Eat whatever the fuck you want and however much you want. Modified keto, or even strict keto will minimize the amount of homeostatic change the body needs to make to handle the food you're giving it after fasting since the fasted state and ketogenic diet are metabolically very similar.
Dominic Ward
I fasted for 8 days straight and have been on a low carb diet for months.
Robert Edwards
>cure their fucking diabetes even jason "calorie counting is killing you BUY MY BOOK i swear im not shilling" fung doesn't argue you can cure it, only reverse it
William Ortiz
I wouldn't describe it as terrible, but it was definitely shocking ahha. I'm used to eating a little bit of salt off of my fingertip without giving tongue chemical burns LOL
hmm, weird, I don't see anything wrong there. Drink a few glasses of water?
Are you feeling bloated? Take a gas-x.
Are you feeling tired? Just rest.
Are you feeling something else? There is nothing specific about 70 hour fasting that will result in a medical situation, period.
Jordan Adams
Still got 344 calories left to eat but I don't want to eat more, sucks
Aaron Foster
Yea but I'm planning to fast again starting tomorrow, and then I probably won't eat until real hunger kicks in.
Parker Ross
I'm 13% bf btw, when would that be approximately?
Andrew Wilson
>diabetic >eat sugar and carbs >uncontrolled blood sugar >elevated levels of insulin >low insulin sensitivity >fatass diabetic goes on fasting diet >3-4 months later >fatass has completely restored insulin sensitivity >baseline insulin is within perfectly normal range >eats an american serving slice of cake >blood sugar stabilizes in perfectly normal time
Reversed, Cured. Same fucking difference. They're not diabetic any more.
Jose Flores
>13% body fat.
You shouldn't be doing extended fasts. You should be using short single day fasts or intermittent fasting only to control body fat while still allowing you to consume massive nutrition to let you build lean mass.
Nathaniel Walker
this guy is correct about reversing/curing diabetes
good luck man you'll be fine :) I am also around 13-16% bodyfat. 5'10 in height, 172lb currently.
At my height, I would be around 5-8% body fat at about 127 pounds. Pic related is what that looks like.
At 13% body fat, you don't have anything to worry about whether you are doing intermittent or multi-week fasts. The only thing you need to monitor is for symptoms of lost electrolytes and kidney pain.
If you feel that, drink some salty water with some lemon juice in it.
Joseph Gray
>ALTERNATE DAY FASTING OUT PERFORMED TRF >ATKINS SHOWED BEST RESULTS FOR BODY WEIGHT >PROBIOTICS ABSOLUTELY BTFO EVERY OTHER SUPPLEMENT
DAILY REMINDER FAT FASTING (FMD) IS SUPERIOR TO WATER FASTING
Dr. Benoit compared results achieved in obese participants by putting them on a fat fast and on a complete fast. Interestingly, those following a fat fast resulted in twice as much fat loss compared to those following a total fast during which they lost more muscle mass and less body fat.
>FFA availability and KB production. An increase in FFA availability augmented KB production not only by a mass effect but also by a diversion of hepatic fatty acid metabolism towards ketogenesis.
yes yes. but you did admit that after a few days of fat fasting you would be water fasting right?? so water fasting is not worse. its just that fat fasting a little before makes you go faster in keto
Oliver Hill
Alright, 5'8" male here. 244Ibs, around 36%bf, never lifted a day in my life.
I am currently in a 24hr fast on my 18th hour. I have a question. Since I am obese, would it be wise to see how long I can go? Or should i stick to 1 24hr fast a week, then go to a 72 hr, and then eventually a 10 day?
Im drinking a gallon of water today and I'm not very hungry, which is expected, but after that I don't really know much else, especially salt and all that.
Also when i break, do I step on the scale and find out my TDEE and all that so I can eat at a deficit?
Eli Diaz
>consuming fat >fasting
Adam Ross
Dry faster innawoods guy here. 2 avocados per day would provide you with 6g of protein and 24g of carbs, and if you eat them separately, thats two insulin spikes compared to one.
What mechanisms are at play here? Why do you think this is superior to dry fasting?
How many more ounces of fat per day did the fat fasters lose?
I'm averaging about 6 oz of fat lost per day.
Jaxson Cook
dry faster. you drink once a day right? do you feel like your pissing out all your electrolytes ?
Bentley Wright
Sup /fast/ I'm literally eating two time a week ( before training ) I go from 170lbs and won't stop until 128 lbs Already did 1-2-3 days fasting, but fuck i'll do WHATEVER it takes to make it. If anyone is interested by the result/process how i'm feeling and shit just tell me Also , during fasting i'm drinking snake juice and the 2 meals is basically rice/meat/vegetables and a fruit just before training Well thats all , i'll post every week i'll get and id so you can recognize me if you're interested .
Aaron Bennett
My opinions:
1) dont drink anymore water than you desire to
2) add some salt and potassium (brand: nosalt) if you ever feel weak or tired or sore
3) you have plenty of fat to live off of, nothing bad will happen by continuing
4) if you do for some reason feel like shit, it's ok to eat a normal meal and re-start a new fast
5) you don't need to have a hyper accurate TDEE.
6) if you are going to eat a big meal, try to eat EVERYTHING in one 20 minute meal. then fast for the rest of the day. this is good because your body cant absorb everything at once, and your insulin is only spiked once
Ryan Miller
YES,IT IS A JUMP START TO KETOSIS THAT PRESERVES LEAN TISSUE
Aiden Scott
>and if you eat them separately, thats two insulin spikes compared to one.
ACTUALLY IT LOWERS INSULIN FASTER KETONES GO UP INSULIN GOES DOWN ALL DAY EVERY DAY
Camden Scott
thats right man, I probably drink only half a litre of water, all at once, every 24-48 hours.
I also eat only one meal, all at once, every 24-48 hours.
Longest dry fast I ever did was 72 hours. Literally no problems. No physical symptoms whatsoever. Piss stream was very weak, so I don't feel like I was losing much compared to when I would do water fasts.
what do you think!!
Benjamin Cook
>I am currently in a 24hr fast on my 18th hour. I have a question. Since I am obese, would it be wise to see how long I can go? Or should i stick to 1 24hr fast a week, then go to a 72 hr, and then eventually a 10 day? The great thing about fasting is you can do whatever the fuck you want. If you start a single day fast and decide the next day "meh I wanna keep going" then just keep going.
Conversely if you've set out to do a 1 week fast and then on wednesday someone invites you over for a pizza party, then go to the fucking pizza party. because your diet should never get in the way of celebrating life's little pleasures with your friends and family.
You'll find as you fast more and more you start to lose the habitual eating patterns as you adjust to a more stable flow of energy from fat. You'll be free to eat when you feel like it and free to go without when you don't feel like it.
>Im drinking a gallon of water today and I'm not very hungry, which is expected, but after that I don't really know much else, especially salt and all that. For shorter duration fasts you don't need to worry about salts. This topic is covered to some extent in the OP so read the fucking manual. Besides RTFM I give my peeps I'm helping out a shipper box of Wyler's Boullion cubes. They're a easy way to get 750mg of sodium from each cube, and makes the salt palatable. Plus the flavor helps trick you into thinking there's something there.
>Also when i break, do I step on the scale and find out my TDEE and all that so I can eat at a deficit? You can't find your TDEE from your scale weight after a single day fast. You won't be able to do this really until around days 9-14. And when you do, you need to take multiple daily scale readings and average it out to find average weight loss to derive TDEE
The first portion of the fast you're losing shit tons of water weight and bowel contents and those aren't fat lbs.
Alexander James
well i just finished my 5 day dry fast and i was gonna go back to normal. but i was wondering after going 5 days without it, how much do i actually need.
then i read that not drinking for 23 hours also gives some effects (like burning fast for water.) so i was wondering if i should try that.
i just thought that if you take all your salt and potassium in an hour that your body might reject some.
Thomas Green
>128 lbs >tits or gtfo
Leo Lewis
5 days is a lot!!! congrats!!! how was it?
My opinion is to not be too anal about it. I drink water when I feel lke I need it. I add a bit of salt and potassium and see if it makes me feel a bit less sore and shaky.
I don't really measure it out in some religious fashion.
The most important thing in my opinion is doing whatever you can to relax, not eat calories, and when you do feel like it's quite necessary to eat, smash it all in as quickly as possible, and then see if you can last longer next time.
The more meals and water you drink, the more of it your body will retain, therefore it can't possibly be good in a weight loss situation ahah
Nicholas Gomez
LOL. THAT IMAGE

So why is the snake diet so looked down upon compared to other fasts? Is it just the obnoxiousness?
Aiden Kelly
burger king just sent this to my house
48 hours deep on this fast, this is like porno to me
Tyler Cook
Yeah most people don't like his style I'd say.
What he has documented and accomplished deserves a lot of respect I feel
Blake Barnes
Keep up user We are all gonna make it

thank you bro, mental toughness is the name of the game with this :D
it's nice to see the scale drop literally every day
Ian Price
ITS LIKE A TAPERED DOWN PLANT BASED KETO
>1,100 on the first day and then to around 800 the next four days for five days overall. >The nutrients are key and include plant-based whole foods like nuts, olives, teas, and soup mixes that are 80 percent fat, 10 percent protein, and 10 percent carbohydrate
anyone have a link to snake guys personal facebook
Anthony Mitchell
you're liteally retarded
Luke Martin
Absolutely yes. With both pink salt and nosalt you will be much more inclined to go longer on your fast.
Charles Morales
olives and nuts are all good in my book, but if I'm already in ketosis, what does it matter? I get into keto pretty quickly
looks like celery, onions, maybe cabbage, chicken broth, and some type of poultry balls?
Almost like a custom italian wedding soup haha
Aiden Torres
almost
its chicken broth with beef balls, celery, leek(all parts), and broken Vermicelli
Justin Robinson
Reminder to all fattys that avocadofag wants you to have loose skin. Consuming protein will end your autophagy and you will not tighten up while losing weight.

I've gone the longest I've ever been lads. Currently sitting on 61 hours. About to head off to the gym, not too sure how much further I'm going to go.
Do most people progress but just sort of slowly going further and further? One fast at a time? Right now I kind of feel like I'm walking around in water and I've got no idea how deep it is in front of me and I'm just wading into it.
Zachary Brooks
Keep going fag. By 80 hours or so you'll feel very good and clear headed. Sip your salts.
Camden Reyes
>but if I'm already in ketosis, what does it matter?
IF YOU COME OUT OF IT THEN IT IS THE FASTEST WAY TO GET BACK IN.
LIKE IF YOU ARE TRYING TO CARB CYCLE WITH A KETOGENIC DIET
YOU CAN GO CALORIE RESTRICTED PLANT BASED KETO TO POP RIGHT BACK INTO IT.
THERE ARE PLENTY OF APPLICATIONS FOR GETTING INTO KETOSIS AS FAST AS POSSIBLE.
IF YOU ARE FAILING TO DO A LONG FAST YOU CAN CONSUME SOME COCONUT OIL AND IT MIGHT MAKE IT EASYIER TO BREAK THROUGH THE INITIAL PHASE OF LIKE THE FIRST TWO DAYS.
EVERYONE SAYS IT IS A HARD TO GET INTO THAT THIRD DAY WHEN YOUR HUNGER LEVELS DROP.
THIS WOULD BOOST YOUR KETONES SUPPRESSING GHRELIN MAKINT IT BEARABLE
The circulating concentrations of several hormones and nutrients which influence appetite were altered after weight loss induced by a ketogenic diet, compared with after refeeding. The increase in circulating ghrelin and subjective appetite which accompany dietary weight reduction were mitigated when weight-reduced participants were ketotic. ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/23632752

So my freind is saying that if I fast my blood pressure will go through the roof and may cause diabetes.
Here's his exact wondering from a text is this true
hey dude, you might want to stop fasting now. was talking to my mum about it and it's more damaging and stupid to try then I even knew. for one, you're going from eating a lot to nothing in the span of a day, it's a huge shock to your system and will hurt your health, secondly it could put your blood sugar levels through the roof which might actually cause diabetes, and thirdly, it's not gonna help at all, I forgot the exact wording but basically your body will begin to store more fat since it thinks it's going through a time of starvation and when you next eat you will gain more weight per food eaten.
Seriously is this true? I did kind of start right after eating an omelet on Monday and haven't eaten since. Plus my heart does seem to pump a bit faster. This has got me worried please help.
Charles Walker
On Thursday I meant. not Monday.
Andrew Russell
Yeah it's true. Listen to user's 20 year old friend, MD over the links in the OP. He's very smart and knows his stuff.
Christopher Moore
>Depriving yourseIf or saIts, sugars, and caIories
You're going into a massive deficit. lf anything, you'II go into shock from pIummeting lnsuIin IeveIs and without saIts, your pressure wiII aIso drop (given you're stiII have 8 gIasses of water a day).
You need (new) friends.
Cooper Russell
>Listen to user's 20 year old friend, What's that? and so should I just start eating bone Brothand fruits to ease me into eating normally again? I had no clue this weight lose diet could cause diabetes I'm seriously scared now. .
Thomas Wilson
when i was 21 i fasted for 10 days on regular water. i felt dizzy when i stood up and week and sometimes was light in the head/headaches.
however. it awakened my love for cooking. even on my fast i started cooking for my family. i researched recipes. and obsessed over food. after eating again i started running to keep the weight off while i cooked all kind of stuff.
i am now 28 an can cook pretty well. i am now on my fith day of fasting and i want to go for 2 more week. and its happening again.
i am bout to buy all kinds of stuff. like a second hand icecream maker. researching different syrups i can use for slush puppys. looking for recipes to fill chicken legs, glass containers to hold all this shit in my freezer while i am fasting.
it all seems like a bad idea now though. since every single thing i make will need to be frozen. i have a rather large fridge but still.
usually i buy like 10 kg of chicken quarterlegs for 13 euro and just freeze and thaw them before eating regular with some spices.
now i am about to cut all 24 into pieces. remove all the thigh meat and pack it up into different bags. make soup from the backs and debone the drums to fill. or deskin some and make little bags of the skin to hold filling.
i wonder if i can somehow start selling meals.
Parker Myers
...
Ayden Wilson
Anyone /OMAD/ here? Still want to be able to workout and have dinner every day
t. 27 BMI fag who's completed an 11 day fast
Hudson Rivera
your dumb as fuck. fasting cures/reverse diabetes.
that starvation mode thing only happens if you eat very little food everyday if you go into fasting you might even increase your metabolism.
Austin Myers
So is this going to cause blood presure or not? I don't want to countuie if that's the case. I've been drinking water none stop while having some tea on the side and adding some salt to a bottle of water every morning. I did everything you guys said besides maybe working my way into this since I'm new but fuck I just don;t know anymore if this making me healthy or fucking killing me now.
Kayden Martinez
just took a hot shower for 20 minutes to get my heart pumping
that free cardio though
dry fasting is really interesting, i wonder if my body sponges up the water haha
Colton Rivera
Just try it, if it's not showing the results you want by a few weeks then switch to EOD or a snake potion prolonged fast.
Anthony Garcia
add 2g of salt to every liter and make sure you get like 2-4 g of potasium each day
Adam Diaz
God damn it please just tell me will fasting cause my blood pressure to go through the roof? will it cause diabetes? will my body store fat?
Please I'm begging you. I know I'm not smart I just wanted to do this to lose weight and my family and friends keep telling me it's going to make me sick or worse and I only have the bloody internet to trust if this diet works or not.
John Harris
>So is this going to cause blood presure or not?
"Cause" bIood pressure? You NEED bIood pressure, but systolic over diastolic needs to correlate to HEALTHY LEVELS.
>your pressure wiII aIso drop
You need to monitor this shit, you sound like you honestly might be too dumb to shift your habits without passing out/doing permanent damage to yourself.
>DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH
Fuck, you have no idea what you're doing.
Jayden Hernandez
>add 2g of salt to every liter I have to add salt to all my water? And what is potasium? and how do I get it?
Justin Thomas
is this bait? Everything in that post is so fucking wrong I could actually picture some idiot nutritionist girl spouting this nonsense.
Charles Roberts
Read the OP, fag.
Jayden Hill
Do you mean me? or my freind who told me fasting will cause blood pressure to rise?
Ethan Lee
Your friend is a fucking moron
Fasting doesn't send your blood pressure "through the roof". In fact it does the exact opposite. Fasting uses up stored glycogen which frees up sodium into the blood which in turn triggers fluid elimination through the kidneys to get rid of this excess sodium.
The reduction in sodium and loss of water weight results in DECREASED blood pressure. In fact without electrolyte supplementation a common side effect reported on long duration fasts is light-headedness while transitioning from a seated or prone posture to a standing one. This is because the blood pressure is so low, and the low levels of electrlytes impairs the parasympathetic response for vascular constriction to compensate for blood pressure changes.
Furthermore the idea that it raises your blood sugar is laughable at best, and a troll at worst.
