I can't for the life of me find a dancing board, or thread, so with this: the first
Dance General.

Post dance styles discussions, songs you can't find the right dance to, etc.

My first topic:
youtube.com/watch?v=I1wg1DNHbNU
The four beat to this is too quick for me, I tried the Cha-Cha to match it with meagre succes, and as well the Jive which felt not adequate, can a dance user inform me what is the better option?

Bump with DYEL Pearl.

Can somebody tell me where to go with this thread?
I just want to talk about dancing sports.

Bump

Please, I desire an answer.

Idle Bump.

Is Veeky Forums for freaks?

Sure, but I want to discuss dancing topics.
Do you know anything about a good spot to do so?

...

Why.

cuz dancing is a very niche hobby, mostly dominated by females

why in the world makes you think it would be a popular topic here?

MDMA Taught me how to dance

Because heaumeaus like dancing

Hoe do learn to dance

I tried posting on different sports oriented boards to pinpoint the proper one, I found that /wsg/ has dance threads, so I am trying it over there.
It's not to say that it should be popular, it just seems a bit silly to me, that there are not even any once-in-a-blue-moon threads on it is all.

Orange>blue> everything else is garbage

I dance modern contempoary focusing on improvisation and partner acrobatics. (think Sidi Larbi but with carrying chicks in one arm as well and hair)

Did it to discover my body but now I get laid from just showing basic contact impro. It's great. Would def reccomend.

In my country we have something called "Style-dancing", it teaches both ballroom and latin dancing styles that one practices with a partner(Dance teacher, assistant etc), in which one can learn in a progressive manner to dance said dancing styles.
I don't know what it is called in other countries, but I guess "Multiple-dancing-styles" comes close to it.
It's a lot of fun, and I was wondering if there were any general threads on the topic.

Think /asp/ is the board to go.

Btw to the dude saying that its a sport dominated by females I seriously hope you mean that in a way that there are more women there. The three times I started a dancing course the instructor was patriachal as fuck and his partner was always this obedient girl

This, I dance more "Classic" dancing styles I guess, but dancing is great for exercising and socialising too.

Idk why not more men go into dancing. I recently picked up swing dancing and everytime there's a lot of dolled up women standing in the corners, waiting for a man to dance with wile the few men can basically pick out the hottest ones.
Also instant body contact and drinks in reach. Tell me a better way for a man to get to know a woman.

Iwas thinking of taking ballroom dance or joining a salsa club but might be too busy. Wsg has the only dance threads i ever see. but i think its just oriented for videos.

do you know any good videos i could learn dancing from?

I wanted to start dancing a while ago but, since there is a lot of girls and im a bit self concious im afraid id look like and idiot

Everyone will die.
You and me , every user there
Don't give a fuck

here

Yes that is my exp as well. Girls dominated by men. Often willingly submitting into that role with a smile.

Classic styles is good. Salsa is congested with men where I live everyone figured out the "trick" (Dancing ok = laid)

If you find a dance style you like you can usually find basic step videos on youtube. It is easiest to learn in person with a trainer or partner showing you the steps. Learn by imitation.

Dude! If you're self conscious just do a basic back and forth step with a lil' arm movement no problem. When I dance in public people get out their smartphones and film me from multiple angles. Go crazy! Then go fuck in a bathroom lmao

Netherlands?

Yes.

This user knows, thank you.
Indeed dancing is great!
In my opinion; it is as such that the dancing moves are divided into two distinct halves of the same technique, one is the male variant which is the leading dance-move-set, and the other is the female dance-move-set which is the more adaptive and following of the two sets.
Either dance partner can dance, but without proper body language one can't communicate with the other properly, thus it is important to dance with the person, opposed to dance purely via the taught moves.
Any person can learn either or both, but indeed the male is typically taught the male's moves and the female the female's moves.
I really enjoy it myself, and I hope to help others learning about it as well if willing.

I've always wanted to do some Ballroom dancing, but lessons here are expensive as fuck. I live in Southern USA, and I can fucking go to the doctor for cheaper than going to a dance lesson.

I just dab alone in my room while I chat with people online and pretend we are friends

You're the one posting Stephen Universe. Stop pretending you don't know.

Also, K-Pop dancing is shit and everybody on earth should know a basic pop and lock, shuffle, and three-step waltz.

This is Veeky Forums's first official position on dance. All others are invalid.

Nice thread OP. This is interesting.

I did Tap, Jazz and Ballet while I was a kid. I never lost the calve muscles.

It's fantastic exercise but as a guy I always felt out of place. Furthermore the industry is shit in a more general sense.

Anyone else here dance as a kid?

this isnt Veeky Forums related
go to /sp/ for "dancing sports" or whatever
also kill yourself for posting steven tumblrverse you fucking faggot

Emphatic bump

I know this thread is retarded, so is this larping autistic OP. But Veeky Forums not liking dance strikes my as odd. But hey sips, onion and obese people are ok.

Well, I live in Hungary and when I turned 20 I realised I don't really know how to dance apart from club dancing and Waltz - and even that only because I've danced it thrice at big school events - so I figured I'd learn to dance to impress the ladies as it seemed like a good idea.

3 years have passed, I've learned all sorts of dancing, and it turns out girls - especially my age - can't fucking dance anything other than basic boring club dancing, which is basically just them shaking their asses.

I can dance but only middle aged women and cougars are impressed, feels like wasted effort.

Nawh dude, find better venues. You're taking classes right? Just go out to town with the class mates. Also
>dancing to impress others

Dancing is a language man, you have to interact. With those around you that you're dancing with. Show them the joy of movement.

What style you dancing? If it's only partner dances try something that is more solo oriented like breakdance, modern contempoary improvizations (groups is best but solo is fun), hell try a gaga class if available.

>learning to move
>wasted effort
Ok buddy. Dancing is the king of cardio

I appreciate ballet but I'm not good at dancing myself

It's a perfect first date. Take a girl to one of your classes. The cougars and milfs will be glaring super jealous at the pretty young thing you brought with you who can't even dance as well as them but you're with her anyway. Women consume jealousy like mold consumes moisture and heat.

pics like these are so gay it really makes me uncomfortable

holy shit I'm going to do this.

only partner, solo seems silly as shit to me, can't take it seriously. Breakdancing is for 13-16 year olds, at least imo

please don't associate dancing with homosexuality mate.

That's the purpose of a dance thread/general would serve, and what people are getting wrong here, it is about dancing, learning, practicing, discussing classes/styles/technique and even competing. The practical side of it, not just discussing about it. A better analogy: a combat sport thread on Veeky Forums would be about training, the same thread on /sp/ would be about matches, events and personalities involved.

Can still take classes even if you're not attempting to go pro.
>don't associate dancing with homosexuality
Alright fair.

I did this once, ended up hooking up with a girl I met at the class instead afterwards.

Dancing is Veeky Forums. Flexibility and strength combined into movement. Lots of guys here can squat 100kg but not touch their toes without effort.
