Mewing and overbite/pushed back jaw/weak chin

There was recently a thread discussing health benefits and effects of chewing hard gum and mewing. Is it possible, through these methods, to reduce the pushed back jaw as an young adult without the surgical treatment ?

Perhaps mewing can but it would take a year to two years. You can also try face pulling but that's a mixed bag of results.

I noticed. When diging around the opinions were inconclusive. But considering the Wolffs law it is theoretically possible.

Obviously if you have grown that way there are some physical constraints. That only makes up for about 10% of your oral posture at best tho so you have no reason not to do it unless youve been cast to play michael cera

Yes, but the older you are, the less malleable your face will be. Regardless, fix your oral posture. Everyone should do it regardless of their age or facial appearance.

From what I've read, two years seems to be where changes become noticeable, but Dr Mike Mew really emphasises the fact that it's a long term process, especially if you're an adult. Mewing is a posture that you need to adopt and become accustomed to for your whole life.

Just get surgery ya melt

I ve got overbait but since i started to mew i decided to try to hold mu upper part correctly and after few days i got use to it

What happened to the mewing generals

I'll start making more, there was a pretty big thread yesterday

Not necessarily grown that way (I know genetics play the biggest role and all that jazz). But the thing is, overbite or misplaced jaw is/can be direct effect of mouth breathing (a lot of allergic people has it since their nostrils are constantly blocked)

Give me money and guarantee that there will be no side effects.

Since we are in the subject, i've started pressing my tongue on top of my mouth and it changed it's shape like pic related. What am i doing wrong have anyone experience the same thing.?

Just soft tissue change, scalloping of the tongue is usually associated with grinding your teeth at night though.
Do you ever wake up with a headache?

I have a headache right now

can we also bring up nasal breathing?

>Doctor Buteyko and his medical colleagues tested more than 250,000 Soviet and Russian patients and found that the following relationships generally hold true for the body-oxygen test in their patients:
>1-10 s - severely sick, critically and terminally ill patients, usually hospitalized
>10-20 s - sick patients with health complaints and, often, on daily medication
>20-30 s - people with average health and usually without serious chronic health problems
>40-60 s - very good health
>Over 60 s - ideal health, when many chronic diseases are virtually impossible

Dr Buteyko worked with mew and they made a book together.

nasal breathing is the absolute key to good posture

no, not really, the only issue i have is the way it looks after changing it's posture, i felt no pain too.

That's the most likely cause then. Pressing your tongue to the roof of your mouth isn't going to cause that kind of change.
If you look in the mirror you may potentially have white lines on your cheeks where you've been biting them too.
Go to the dentist and get a soft occlusal bite guard made, should stop the damage to your teeth and reduce the headaches.

Thought you were the previous poster.
Unlikely to be anything to worry about then if it's only a transient change that returns to normal when you stop.

i once heard/read that such teeth marks on the tongue are a sign of heart problems. might be bullshit, but read yourself smart.

Well, considering that tongue is a big muscle I would take this into consideration.

40s without trying

Feel like I'm fucked really lads. Can never breathe through my nose at night so I mouth breathe in my sleep. Too late to fix my narrow palate and long face anyway

What exactly is mewing? Just touching the roof of your mouth with your tongue? Is it supposed to be hard?

You probably have a narrow palate: youtu.be/26KBKhaieSE

I have a question. In this video youtu.be/V03Oabno1a8 Mew explains that not mewing causes a big hanging underlip, as you use your lip muscles more than your tongue. But will mewing fix it?

There was a thread yesterday (currently in archive, search for "chewing", there is a lot more general info there). Essentially it is the method created by Mike Mew for jaw and dental correction. It uses the Wolffs law to rearrange the jaw alignment. It works the best in if you are a kid or teenager and you are still growing. In case of adults it is a more complicated since your bone structure has already developed.

One of the anons in the old thread pointed toward mouth breathing and I started digging around it but the opinions are inconclusive in case of the adults. Mouth breathing is usually developed when you have some prolonged respiration problems. If mewing is effective (even slightly) then it can be money saver for people with allergies.

you have a small palate, keep mewing and it should expand eventually to make enough place for tongue
you also might be pushing your tongue too fsr forward, the tip of your tongue should be just behind your upper front teeth but mot touching them

start mewing right now and tape your mouth during sleep, I'm not even joking, taping your mouth is effective
t. taped my mouth for 2 months until I started nose breathing on manual during sleep

just go to youtube and search for Mike Mew and watch whatever you can find
the general premise is this
1. lips closed
2. teeth together (lightly, no grinding)
3. entirety of the tongue plastered on the roof of the mouth (do a chees smile right now, that's what it feels like)

Barely 20s

Am i going to die

If you have breathing problems caused by other things(mentioned before allergies for example) you should also try getting rid of them ASAP.

Is it correct to flex the bite muscles in your mouth by clasping them confidently together? I also notice that if you bite while clasped you kind of exercise the jaw muscle, is this how you do it? If i look in the mirror, i have a more confident look while clasped than if i were slackjaw.

Nhaa chill, expanding lungs capacity should be enough, so swimming running I guess.

don't do that, they can touch lightly but no clasping m8
if you wanna exercise the masseters chew some hard gum and keep the lips closed while you do it (proper form)

were you out of breath afterwards though?

That's where hard gums come into play. But effects of mouth breathing have a bit more then just slack jaw.
If I misunderstood you correct me.

I was just trying to understand if exercising the jaw muscles would make it more natural to keep your mouth in a natural position. If i sit and chew, i feel that the jaw muscles under my ears becomes harder, so by chewing you will actually grow your face and make it permanent i think.

Thank you, appreciate it.

Yes, absolutely. The main exercises is the mewing but chewing reinforces you muscles so it can be helpful.

Since we're talking about Overbite here let me state my situation:
I have an somewhat severe overbite, but no one other than my dentist has ever notest it because my jaw is actually really strong and my mouth looks normal, the thing is, because my lower set of teeth are further back I have a really fucking huge chin and when I smile it looks weird because the chin is so fucking forward in relation to the mouth, how do I fix that? ( also my teeth are pretty straight so there is no problem there)

>Pic related is how I look (also I'm a man)

If i look in the mirror while having the right mew posture and also rise my eyesbrows slightly i look way more confident. There's definitely something to this.

Damn man, hard to tell what you can do. I'm by no means an expert, just an user who did a bit of digging so these are just my dumbshit ideas :
>If you correct your bite you (at least in my opinion) should try to train your face muscles and get that slayer look.
>alternative: you correct your bite and surgically reduce chin.

I would go with number one since I am not a fan of cutting face up. If your dentist noticed that maybe you should consult this issue with him.
And again, I am by no means an expert. I got inspired by old thread an did a little bit of digging around mine own issue (and for sake of kids in the future). Whish you best bro.

Same here. I have an underbite, my bottom teeth are at a slight back angle, but I have a huge chin. Looks like shit from the side, like that pic.

Despite my lower teeth being back when I smile and bite my neutral face is already trained to have my front teeth aligned, so I look like pic related 24/7, maybe just rocking the mug is a better option.

I've looked into surgery, but I would need 2 yers of braces to get my teeth into the position needed and I already whore them for 4 year when younger and it was hell, so I'm not going back

My solution was grow a bread, I never shave it, the lower it will go it's a 3mm machine cut, but it also maker my very strong jawline look weaker because it's not very full

Bump

^ this, unless your teeth don't cause you any actual problems and your aim is better facial esthetic of course.

-30 s - people with average health and usually without serious chronic health problems
-60 s - very good health
Between these, i got to fucking do more cardio

>tfw strong chin due to underbite and genetics

are you me? I have a massive underbite and a really strong chin. The only problem is my sharp large chin makes my neck look so small.
>tfw pencil neck

Don't skip the neck day

>but it also maker my very strong jawline look weaker

I don't like growing a beard because my jaw is actually good, the problem are my teeth. Growing a beard makes my face look like a potato

How to get harder gum?
I can't get mastika/chios gum on my country (not even on amazon) and I would like to know if there are any alternatives or something to add to standard gum to make it harder.

just chew on some leather, wash it first obviously

I have a problem with keeping my jaw & and teeth closed. I know to put tape over your lips to keep your mouth shut but do you guys know of anything I can but that'll keep my jaw closed and teeth together too?

What is mewing? Like a kitty cat?

We can't have everything user.
I would still suggest ask a actual specialist about it. That's the best thing you can do imo.

Proper tongue placement in the mouth.
Look up Dr Mike Mew (that's where the name comes from)

For teeth you can try mewing. Just remember to do it constantly (or at least as constant as you can). There are a few videos of Mike explaing his stuff on YT to definitely look em up.
You can always buy yourself a face harness (pic related)

Thank you OP for making this post. I never knew Overbite was a thing and that I had it, so I was unaware of the problems it was causing me. I'm going to see a dentist as soon as I can to get his opinion on it, I'm still young so I suppose it won't be too hard to fix.

Thanks again.

>mewing
>onions
>zinc
what else do i need to be sexyAF and not laughed at by the opposite sex?

I have one of these for sleeping, keeps me from grinding my jaw and reminds me to not mouth breath.

>6'4"
>8x6
>$100k/yr
>positive canthal tilt
>full facial hair
>at least 50 previous sexual partners

Does anyone else find it really uncomfortable to keep the teeth together?
Tongue on the roof and mouth shut is easy but the teeth... Hope I'll get used to it

You don't have to be clenching your teeth, that's even more harmful. Anything should be done with moderation and ONLY if you have an actual problem.

I think you don't understand the reason behind such posts. They are for people with actual deficiencies. If you are healthy and look good then there is no reason for you to take any of medications/supplements or do special exercises.

It's like being a kid with a good posture but doing exercises to correct it. It's pointless.

>visit my dentist for a cleaning
>drills the sides of my teeth off for some fillings
>now I keep shifting my jaw around and it always fell uncomfortable

I want to die. Should I visit an orthro?

Member. CONSULT WITH DENTISTS B E F O R E YOU DO ANYTHING.

I'm just a random fag who digs some info to look better, I have no medical knowledge or training outside of what collect in terms of information. There is also old thread in archive, I recommend you to check it out.

Won't hurt you. It might as well be your dentist being too rough with your jaw.

It feels like they drilled off too much now I always feel like my mouth is open if that makes sense.

Sounds annoying af

shit brehs, my upper teeth are over my lower ones, dentists never told me anything, but i don't have an overbite how can this be

Boyos, I have an overbite. When my front teeth are aligned to mew the back ones are left hanging in the air? What's the solution? Or will they align after time?

What's the benefit of pushing your tongue to your palet? Curious

I have that too, never thought it was a big deal.

Unless your chin doesn't look like on on the leg you probably don't have overbite. If you still think you have go consult your dentist. Self diagnosis if not in extreme case (pic related) is dumb. Chill mate.

Asuming that Wolffs law works it should re arrange your facial structure a bit

If youre considering surgery, recovery can be kind of hellish but i don't regret it at all. very satisfied with my results

Side note: had 2 surgerys for my underbite, still worth

My Underbite is not that significant to jump to the surgery immediately. I want to try to do it without it first.

Will mewin or breathing throurgh your nose help you straighten out your nose?
