If food, sleep, water, and training make up 95% of what you can impact, supplements make the other 5% (or less).

Whey is a bit different in that I would count it in the food category as a cheap protein source. If you’re not getting enough protein or you’re simply using it as a low calorie means to get more protein, then that’s how it plays in your diet. Not magic, just extra protons.

I buy protein powder since it's so damn cheap. For the amount it costs to get 4kg of chicken breast here I can get 4kg of protein powder instead.

I just started adding two scoops of protein powder because I'm trying to lose weight but I'm still lifting weights at the gym. My muscle gains were dogshit despite hitting the gym every other day and while I'm still not getting enough calories to maximize my gains, the protein definitely helps me build or at the very least keep my muscle.
