Every person I've known who has been depressed has a "yes" in one of these. Don't get me wrong, I am certain that there are people who are depressed because something is wrong with them biologically. However, they are pretty rare.

Human interpretation for things are not equal. You might not consider something horrible while some others do. Even worse, people might hate something and not even be aware of it but act it out subconsciously.

There is no separation between your physical brain and your mind. When you say something is wrong emotionally, that is a reflection of the physical state of the neurons in your brain (and your entire body to some degree). I do understand what you're saying, some people get depressed because of psychological stress or trauma while some people just seem to get it basically out of nowhere, but it's not really correct to think that the apparent cause dictates the solution. Somebody who fell into chronic depression after getting abused as a child or whatever could benefit from antidepressants, someone who has nothing materially wrong in their life could benefit from therapy... It's not so simple

Do couch to 5k. I've been on multiple anti-depressants and anti-psychotics and they fucked my brain up severely. I spent a year rebuilding what I lost because of the medications, but I still experienced depressive episodes which would last for months if I allowed it. The one thing that has helped is cardio - specifically running/jogging. Jump rope is good too. Strength training actually triggers mood fluctuations in me. I still see a psychologist and despite my horrible experience with medications she tells me they may be necessary. Most of these "mental health professionals" are a serious threat to your general wellbeing. I have all of the hallmarks of a fucked up psyche and right now I'm functioning better in my life than I ever have, no thanks to any kind of pill or psychotherapy. If anything, those people will make you doubt yourself even more. Get the fuck off of Veeky Forums too. Any kind of online cesspool of degeneracy is not helping you.

In addition, establish a routine. Get out of your house and head and speak to as many people in real life as possible. Do things that force you to be active throughout the day. If you're working out an hour daily and are sedentary for the other 23 hours, it's over.
