I think a passion for anything dwindles as you get older just because you end up seeing nearly everything it has to offer. Like I was really into video games but after 25 or so I've been struggling to really get into or finish any game unless it's really something special.

Anime lost it's lull to me when for the first time I went to a otaku/cosplay fair and I was dismayed with the kinda people I saw and the general awkwardness of everything, I was about 16, so I finished up Gundam, Samurai X, and Inuyasha and never picked up another anime again.

I've always been tempted to watch classical shit like ninja scroll, ghost in the shell, etc, but the way eastern animations seem to overly exaggerate or overly fictionalize all their characters within the "anime world", making everyone seem like a genius/superhero, and also what are the fucking chances a 12/10 redhead with a fitbody and a youthfull appearance, with a PHD in computer programing, software engineering, medicine and criminology, trained by the SEALs or some other random anime spec-ops group by the time she is 19 can even fucking exist? Anime is goddamn unrelatable.

Some western animation have the same sins, but still, Batman can't beat Bane in a strength context, Catwoman can never best Batman, Lobo can fuck up Superman. There are rules, there are powerlevels we can understand. Conflicts are settled directly so we can measure the power of each character also directly, not in some 10 episode history arch where 80% is build up to the fight and 20% is the anti-climatic fight.

Personally I don't judge anime or those who like it. I like the Simpsons. I watch Family Guy. IMO all of those have the same value: Cheap entertainment.
