Hello Veeky Forumsizens, is pulling sumo better than conventional deadlift?
Let's settle the debate: Sumo vs conventional

did eddie hall pull 500kg sumo?
checkmate
Sumo isn’t deadlifting
Come back to us Candytoe ;-;
The former is harder to pull from the floor and easier to lockout, the latter is easier to pull from the floor and harder to lockout.
no but he is a sumo so it checks out
How is it not a real deadlift when it's allowed in powerlifting?
romanian deadlift
neither, trap bar is best
girls mire the conventional deadlift, they just look away if you pull sumo because a man with his legs spread wide like he is trying to show off his ass to his gay fuckbuddies isnt attractive.
>squatting
If you're 6'2"+ then do sumo
If you're shorter do conventional.
No one wants to see your 5'5" ass with 1 inch rom on sumo.
"lockout" is a noun. you mean "lock out".
in my experience this.
I am 6'2 and sumo allows me to lift more comfortable and confidently
my legs actually look real good when i stand with wide stance for sumo deads. Noticed more mires from that than most lifts i do
rounded back trap bar
scott really went over the top with the juice huh
Different lifts
So I pull different dead lifts and 3 times a week. I feel keeping it different helps me increase my gains.
Yeah it's exactly like I said right? That dude looks short as fuck so he only needs to pull the bar like 4 inches because his range of motion is so short.
Conventional as main heavy lift and a lighter sumo for an accessory movement
>using straps
Fuck off reddit
Like how your mom locks you out when I’m fucking her in the ass
Romanian deads are the truth, at least if you want to target your hamstrings.
They are different lifts and should have different records.
I’m ok with have the option to choose one or the other for your “total,” but the record books for the lift should specify a sumo record and a conventional record.
Also, they should bring the overhead Press in as a possible substitute for bench for your total.
It is a nuanced question. Better for?
For general strength training purposes? No, conventional is better.
For competition if the leverage differences allow you to pull more? Sure, knock yourself out.
That's it in a nutshell. To claim anything different is to be wrong.
