>What is /fast/?
Fast is a thread for the discussion of intermittent fasting, fasting, water fasting, and dry fasting.

It's when your body takes apart useless, shitty cells. (Cancer cells, cells with broken protein, acne, loose skin, etc)

>HOW DO I SAFELY FAST?
>take around 4700 mg of potassium per day max
>2000 up to 3000 mg of sodium per day max
>MIX THIS INTO AT LEAST A LITER OF WATER, sip it through the day. This will keep you hydrated.
This is regularly referred to as snake juice. It is not necessary but will help.

>WHAT SHOULD MY FASTING ROUTINE LOOK LIKE?
If you're lean, 5:2!-- OMAD (one meal a day, 1-2 hour eating window) 5 days a week + 48 hour fast a week
If you're a fatass, FAST UNTIL YOU AREN'T.

>WONT I GO INTO STARVATION MODE AND DIE?!
You don't have the willpower to fast to death. Now look down. See that large bulbous gut? That's food. Thousands and thousands of calories stored and ready to be consumed by your body.

>WONT I LOSE MUSCLE?
This is the coolest part about fasting. Your body remains very anabolic when you fast.

Food is a Jewish trick

You got that right!

Will a 20 hour fast do anything for me?

Yes, but not really.
What are your stats? What are your goals?

That's basically just skipping breakfast and having a late lunch.

210lb 5'10", just want to lose weight.

I love food so very much. How do I build the courage to file the divorce papers and do the /fast/?

78kg, 175cm and my scale says 19% bf, but i don't know how true that is, still got a big belly.

Will i lose weight during that time though?

Maybe doing the fast will save your marriage

Try to start a keto and start ketosis, get used to the feeling, then go for it

You didnt get his joke
[spoiler]his marriage is with food

>will i lose weight during that time though

Not if you only do it one day. But if it becomes your new routine then you might have better insulin levels. If you still eat as many calories as before, then it will only have a limited effect.

320+

Finishing up 72 hours shortly, pushing on to 96.

We're gonna make it bros

my marriage is with food

>78kg, 175cm
>19% bf

Who did the fuck tell you that?

Unless you have arms as big as your legs, you are not 19%bf at that heigh wtf

oh lmao

Just do it, doesn't require courage, just drink water if you get super hungry. The beauty of fasting is it gets easier after the first few days

Broke my fast like a bitch on day 5.
Going for it again today. Now I know what to expect and I'll power through the pain.

>doing OMAD for several months
>eat my delicious, nutritious, yet small meal for the day
>an hour later, break down and eat 2 not small handfuls of tortilla chips
This isn't the first time that this has happened... I'm not gonna make it bros

i have one of those retarded scales with metal stripes on them, you stand on it barefeoot and the app tells you your bf%. Yeah i always knew that shit would be inaccurate as fuck, when i look at pic related i look more like the 35%. What a total scam.

Anyways, any advice for me?

Do like a week and then come back. Lick some salt if you feel bad.

I'm currently doing a 2 day dry fast, but I been on OMAD since a week ago because people think I'm becoming anorexic or some shit.

I eat in the evening, but every morning I go to school I walk past a McDonalds with an intense craving for a triple cheeseburger.

It's hard, user.

But we can make it.

WE ARE GOING TO MAKE IT BRAH, JUST MAN THE FUCK UP

Do a long fast for a week, it'll put the OMAD hunger into perspective

Well, if you don't want to water fast, you could do OMAD.

You know, only eat once a day (You can eat anything but please eat clean for faster results)

Are you busy on weekends?

You could do dry fast those days for faster results (Can lose a kilo per day on dry fast)

We are going to make it brah.

Yeah i did omad togheter with keto when i was at my fattest (103kg) and that's how i got here. I suppose i could fast on weekends, yeah. Im interested in fasting, im a fan of the rapid weightloss.

whoa whoa hang on
>Can lose a kilo per day on dry fast

please talk more about this, i don't even drink water doing this, i take it?

Yes.

On dry fast, you have to drink zero liquids too (so, nothing gets in your mouth those days)

I recommend starting at night.

Do lots of cardio to lose water and when you finish, go to sleep so the next morning you have maximum dry fast gains.

It's not recommended to get out while dry fasting (I can do it, but you know, better safe than sorry) and it's harder than water one, but way more effective.

I don't have a bad taste in my mouth nor does my piss smell like ass, but I got that white tongue coating. Are my ketones low ke something?

can i get a bf estimate? 145lbs 5'10 (66kg 178cm)

you're fasting. just keep going.

btw this shorts are a size XS 28 waist LOL, swimming on me

bro you're asking me? all i can say is that whatever bf% you are, it's more or less my goal.
Good luck.

thanks, if you are fat, then don't really worry about what percentage you are as it's already too much

salt the fuck up, drink water, don't eat, play video games, walk around, whack off frequently (preferably not in public) and just enjoy the ride

every day you will see little changes bro its the best thing ive ever done with my life

Thank you! gonna get into fasting now, we're all gonna make it

Been doing 8/16 since Monday. Still hungry in the mornings but not ravenous. Is that ever gonna stop?
I drink 1 black coffee no milk/sugar in the morning. Is that ok or will it mess with autophagy

godspeed nibba

Opinions on fasted cardio? Going to enlist but I'm skinnyfat and slow.

Waiver clears on the 14th (surgery 6 month wait) and I barely make weight atm. I've been doing OMEOD and want to know if extending to 5 fast 2 eat will fuck me up if I'm working on my mile time. How quickly can I lose 35 pounds of fat?

you need to lose 35 lbs of fat in 6 months? and you need to improve your mile time to what precisely?

how fat are you currently?

i can coach you to lose 35lbs in 6 weeks

Are moderate / intense exercises safe while fasting?

Im (re)watching a Spanish tv show where a woman tries fasting for 21 days. She wants to experience what anorexic people suffer in their lives, while going around asking people with EDs shit. It's pretty interesting to see what she experiences in a long fast and how clueless the doctors assessing her are about fasting.

>and how clueless the doctors assessing her are about fasting.
Im curious too. Summary?

>5'5
>190 lbs
>1/2/3/4 mode unlocked
My body looks like the guy in 35% square but my Yunmai scale says 21%. When I do the math on what I'd need to be at to hit ~10% bodyfat it puts me around 165 lb... which would be lean for me. I think if you get a good bodyfat scale it's more accurate than a shitty one obviously

at 5'5 190, you easily have 50lbs of cutting to do

I understand the effects of waterfasting. No foot > Ketosis. But what about IF? Even with OMAD timings, wouldnt the 1 meal a day rise the insulin too much to rake in any benefits from the fasting?

Also, would it be better to exercise before or after eating while doing OMAD?

They're basically saying that if you fast you're going to become anorexic, didn't mention anything about her being safe with salt and then complained that her potassium levels are low.

If you're doing cardio, eat your meal right before so your body can burn it as energy immidiately and you feel more fueled for your workout

If you're doing weights/resistance, eat right after so your body uses the good to repair muscle tissue to maximize gains

Is that your house???

grey area, do what feels right
your insulin will still drop outside of the meal
>eat your meal right before so your body can burn it as energy immidiately
no, stop with mom science

Okay I'm 5'11 180lbs and I'm way too much of a bitch to completely fast. So how does this sound: T W Th I do OMAD, then F Sat Sun Mon I do water fast? Or should I do dry fast instead?

can this help with my water retention?
I gained 5 kilos from birth control, googled about it and it seems the weight gained is water retained. I struggled with water retention before when I was fatter (68kg currently after this gain) and solved it lowering my salt intake

haha hellll no thats the fitness club pool and ping pong room here in chile

Anyone here will fasting during Christian Lent?

This is why fit tells you to lift during a cut.

if you dry fast for 2-3 days, and/or cut out sodium completely from your diet, and or take hot showers frequently, and or do cardio, and or drink a lot of unsalted water right now....

you will lose 5kg of water in 3 days, easily

idk, I hear "take more water, so your body will stop acting like he's in a fucking desert and just pee the excess" and seems that drying your body just makes the retention worse
I'm thinking in fasting in a middle-low sodium snake juice

Why don't you stop at this point. You've got no muscle on you. The only point of fasting is to show your muscles, what you need to do is go to the gym and bulk.

cant lose muscle if you don't have any muscle to lose *tips fedora*

all of the options ive listed are confirmed by me at least to work, especially dry fasting. you get rid of water like a fiend on a dry fast, my jaw gets very cut, but you have to make sure you drink a lot of water WITHOUT SALT before the dry fast

I did IF by default for a long time, never eating breakfast and eating my lunches late, and never saw any benefit from it.

no worries mate i appreciate you offering advice :)

i've got about 3-4 weeks to go on 47/1 IF, which is really short.

i run 10-15km every day so being as lightweight as possible is my ultimate athletic goal. i will lean bulk starting in march!!!! :D

No but thats a good excuse to fast and not hide it.

oh welp, I'll consider dry fasting then. I already sweat easily tho. I'm just gonna fast first and maybe dry fast after that

Me. Jesus was a Hebrew, the Jews are a fairly new word/term and they're the prodigy of the edomites that murdered and rejected Christ.

Almost through day 2.

Day 1 went by easily.

I'm not hungry but I'm struggling with the MAJOR FUCKING ANXIETY FSDJLDFSJSAF

I'd also like some mint oreo icecream and cake.

remember that its easier to do something semi-hard for 5 days, than it is to do something very hard for 2 days. if you don't like fasting, at the very least just stop eating salt (chips, soup....) and hit the sauna and drink a lot of water.

if you look bloated, and feel bloated, and the scale says you are bloated, you are definitely bloated. you have to force it out- whatever you are doing currently isnt working, because 5kg of water takes 3 days to lose, legit :) 5kg of fat? 2 weeks.

Don't. Just keep yourself busy

can i fast with this salt and get all my essential electrolytes(sufficient potassium, etc) from it?

I didn't weight myself lately
Welp, I've been taking some diuretic pills (5, one every 3 days). They made me pee and seemed to help but doesn't look like a long term solution
I don't feel bloated, if it wasnt for the scale I wouldn't notice I gained weight
Yeah I'm gonna try some of that

your mind is anxious because it thinks you will die

nothing you are doing right now is deadly

you are reprogramming your fucked up leptin hormone receptors

fasting is the only time I feel calm desu

Serious question here, fasting will cure my porn addiction?

how bad is it? fasting has thoroughly improved my general circulation in my body, which translates into constant raging boners

it doesn't feel unhealthy to whack it

Pretty bad. I beat my meat a least two times a day and have developed depression and social ansiety. And yes, I believe NoFap shit.

So for skinnyfat, do I wanna do 8 hour intermittent fasting? I'd like to continue lifting, get to 10%ish body fat and then bulk

my heart feels weird with the salt potions

This, before i started fasting i was lazy, really poor hygiene, woke up past 12 and ate anything and everything, had bad anxiety and drunk 2-3 times a week.

Now im waking up early, making my bed and cleaning my room, showering 1-2 times a day, quit sugar and lowered carbs down, stopped alcohol, only on the rare occasions id drink. All round i just feel way more better, i have more energy and i feel like leaving the house, this diet literally motivates me so much.

ATM im doing 1 meal every 24 fast for afew days, then going to do a week fast.

If you have the willpower for it, just do a straight water fast until you're down to the desired bf%.

I'm trying to work up to it. Got a week, and the longest I've done so far is 4 days.

I'm completely new to this. Don't think I can do without water with the work I do. How could I possibly also keep lifting?

Strongly discourage dry fasts for people getting into it.

how do i defend myself when people say keto is a fad diet? like do i say isnt it better than a "normal" diet where everyone is obese

By "water fast" I mean ONLY consuming water

And yeah you should be fine to lift on a water fast, just don't expect any gains

Say youre a fad.

You simply say that it works for you.

This is what I do and it's a reasonable answer since everyone is different and our meal preferences are subjective.

When they come up with stuff about the steak-on-the-bone being full of saturated fat which causes heart disease, just say that the fat around your heart (which you are losing through fasting and reduction of excess body fat) will kill you far quicker than the fat around your t-bone steak.

One thing I would do is if keto goes the way of "Gluten Free" then avoid the overpricing trap of restaurant menus, order the normal meal which contains mostly keto stuff and then hold or discard the non-keto items (like fries, chips, potatoes, etc.)

I already do this with my weekly meal (since it comes with a baked potato), I just add the sour cream to the lamb chops.

Hmm...lamb chops....

the majority of people are not obese

Going for a 30 day fast, already 42 hours in. Started at 211, currently 210 and looking to get down to around 180. tried this a couple days ago but got massive headaches and dizziness on day 4. wish me luck, lads.

ummmm damn near 70% of people are overweight, and 30% percent of people are obese, at least in the western world

anything over 10% body fat brings consequences

Is there something I miss if I only do intermittent fasting?

Read OP

Just pull down your pants and show them your blacc coq; they'll be silenced.

Especially if you are a 5'6" white guy...

Hey guys im trying to do like a 20+ day fast but i have trouble breaking 3 days.

Can anyone who has experience with this tell me how you went through the process?

I am like 255~ right now want to maybe get down to like 180 in by 2019

I am like legit addicted to food

The first question is what is preventing you breaking the 3 day barrier?

i have a meal plan at school and the lunch ladies make really nice conversation so i feel like an asshole who is wasting money if i dont eat

also into the 2 day mark all i can think about is food and eating and working a way into making an excuse

I don't have a food scale but I have some measuring spoons. For 1.5L of water can I get away with 2 tsp of NoSalt and 1 tsp of Pink salt? I am also to sip this through the say with my regular water? I'm on day 3 and I feel fine just off regular water.

You could do OMAD so that you use up your meal plan and then fast from there

Also, try meditation to deal with your food cravings

Hey bros, tenth day of my water fast. I've dropped 16lbs to 209lbs, but I weigh the same today as I did yesterday - 209lbs. I've changed nothing from the water consumption or light cardio I've been doing. Is this my body acclimating to the fast?

How about not going to the cafeteria?

Sure, it's a pain to throw away good money if you've paid in advance for meals you can't eat while fasting, but the long term consequences of being a fat fuck are much higher than a few wasted bucks on a school cafeteria.

I found that gradually cutting out the most problematic and addictive aspects of food, primarily alcohol, stimulants (caffeine and sugar) and junk food then moving to OMAD helped a great deal in dealing with my attitude to food and ensuring that I was in control, not the food that I ate.

The gradual transition to fasting after that was relatively easy.

If you can't go cold turkey then try a more incremental route, just remember that if you don't early death is the price you will pay.

It's that simple.

You cant acclimate to 0 fucking calories intake.
You probably drunk too much water before weighting today (dont forget that water also has its own weight), or worst case scenario, you are retaining water.
If you are retaining, it can be fixed very easily after you are done fasting, so just keep going as long as you are feeling well.
BTW, are you feeling well?

completed a 2 week fast with just snake potion.
im about to start another open ended fast and see how long i can go. i am going to be a lot less strict this time and drink fresh clean water (no snake juice) and i will allow myself tea and coffee, perhaps even some citrus/lemon juice.
i know the results might take longer this way but i feel its more sustainable and i could go further

>Is this my body acclimating to the fast?

Unless you have been cursed by god to be excluded from the Laws of Thermodynamics, no.

What is probably happening is that your body is accumulating water weight. Signs of this will be drinking a reasonable amount, but urinating very little.

I'm going through the same process at the moment (last 3 days have been flat) and it's irritating, but there is not much I can do about it other than to up my exercise rate.

My keto sticks tell me I am in deep ketosis, since I am fasting and my last meal was on Tuesday (had two meals this week because of a social event), I know that my body can only be getting the energy it needs from my fat, so I need to simply accept that.

Just keep fasting and the downward slide will start moving again. It's a long and tedious process, but at least it is easy and the results are eventually guaranteed if you persevere.

Perseverance is the key.
