I've noticed a large number of Veeky Forums people I've known and spoken to were ex-Runescape players or were really into some other MMO.
What's the correlation there?
Does wasting your life away on an mmo motivate you to fix yourself or do these games teach young men qualities like patience and goal setting?

>Does wasting your life away on an mmo motivate you to fix yourself

Somewhat accurate

I was hooked to vanilla and TBC WoW back in the day. Even though I had an absolute blast and made some friends for life, I realised I was missing out on a lot and I wanted to go out and experience that.

When I went to college I deliberately sold all my gaming gear and only took a laptop with no GPU so I would have to go out and socialise and not be tempted to install games. Best decision ever.

>do these games teach young men qualities like patience and goal setting?

I don't know about that, but it sure helped a lot of my European friends get better at English.

>doing monotone shit for hours just to get higher numbers
literally the most Veeky Forums game

This

If this game did anything for me, it made me realize that to make progress you just have to do pretty much the same shit over and over and over again. And at first you get noob gains and lvling is easy, and the higher lvl you get the harder it is to progress.
I still play RS sometimes

Everyone on this site is an ex runescape player

Same. By the end of wotlk I think I had something like 1 year total played time if I were playing 24/7

I unironically still play RS, and some of the people in the rs Veeky Forums threads are also fit browsers

I make time for it in my week while still maintaining a social life and my gym gains

Yeah i go back to this game sometimes for the nostalgia, I've learned to be patient, not to trust everyone, some economy basics, also got a lot better at English.

I find training agility as the most grotesque, like you just sit hours upon hours on your ass while clicking intensively on obstacles to get your character fit. Like what the fuck...

>What's the correlation there?
Both MMOs and working out:

* are a slow grind

* require time and work

* give you quantifiable, measurable progress

* give you an element of competition that you get to participate in at your own speed - you wanna be Mr. Olympia this year or you just wanna bench 2pl8 before you die, you'll find something for yourself

These guys get it

both runescape & Veeky Forums highly correlated with autism

Please post runescape mimis. They always make me smile and bring back memories.

Could be because these games were/are insanely popular and there's no causation at all. Also
>strength pure irl?

I still play WoW daily and raid to be in top 500 guilds ww yet hit the weights almost daily. Sometimes the idea that i could swing a weapon like my character motivates me.
but i work 40h+ a week too so doesnt leave a lot of time for the rest.

maxed obby mauler = bloatmaxx

Obby mauler maybe

im occasionally fighting myself to not start playing again. I have quitted for about 2 years now but deep inside i know i still want to play but its soooo unproductive.

>t. almost maxxed out f2p with close to 2b bank

I think the reason I got into MMOs is because I grew up in an abusive childhood and needed the escapism.

who here Veeky Forums ?

My life is the gym, work, and WoW lately. Male Draenei is the ideal physique desu

used to play everything hardcore

Once the playerbase died I realized how much time I wasted getting pixels that didnt amount to shit

Started lifting because it was a similar grind to MMOs but my gains didnt disappear once a new expansion comes out

Played RS too, forgot my main account info though so I havnt played in years. Maybe it’s the vidya-lifting correlation, spend so much time grinding away for some arbitrary number, lifting fits right in.

...

I recently quit a weebish mmo (FFxiv) and it's definitely motivated me. It was a big wake up call when I looked around and I was no longer the degenerate among my group my friends, I was a normie compared to these people.

>Literally met some guy fishing at barb villiage spouting Veeky Forums memes the other day

Woah

>tfw just beat desert treasure
Fuck getting that ice diamond so much

Does wasting your life away on an mmo motivate you to fix yourself or do these games teach young men qualities like patience and goal setting?
You nailed it bro.
FOR THE ALLIANCE

Are you even aware of the existence of Chad in Scholazar?

what are some high test mmo?

you guys play osrs obviously right?
if you do at all, tried sometime ago and it got boring in a few days

I have like 3200 hours into OldSchool RuneScape right now, and I always see RS shit posted here, so yeah. Like others have said, it really is the most Veeky Forums game

Haven't played anything in the last few years, but I'd say Tera.
>Highly dependent on fast reaction time and dodging
>Full of big titty waifu
That's really about it I guess, but it's more than most.

rs3 buddy, some advanced combat and engaging bosses

runescape (not oldschool!!)

>rs3
>get every skill to 50 just by logging in
>high test

i was literrally playing runescape as i was browsing /fit and found this thread

>Flipped 500k on the GE last night
Feels good desu

RS3 is the better game. OSRS is for autistic fucks that enjoy runecrafting for 1000 hours to get 99. I can max in the same time it takes get one 99 in old school.

I just did DT too I thought it was gonna be way harder but its just like 4 quests in one so it takes forever but its not that bad. I guess without a guide it would be a huge bitch

Dragon Slayer 2 was a fun quest

RS3 is shit, literally a generic p2w mmo now, it does not have what makes old school special whether you'll admit that or not.

It's all about the grind state of mind.

Which is admirable as far as dedication goes but tends to leave people unbalanced.

But all the greats are fundamentally unbalanced, you can't equally spread your stats and expect to be the best at something.

>2b bank in f2p
Jesus fuck, user. How do you make that money with no slayer? Why didn't you buy bonds?

>ex-runescape
breh I'm playing osrs right now

>lets you advance through the more boring levels faster so you can enjoy end game content

i was basically always member since bonds came out, but f2p as not having spent any real money. Yes slayer was good, but my main income was flipping in ge

Damn i really want to start playing again haha

rs3 is THE soyboy low test version. OSRS is much hornier

Yeah my addiction to watching numbers go up on a screen is sated by watching my lifting numbers go up now. RS stunted me socially even though i was an extremely popular cc owner and rich on both osrs and pre eoc. Finally just botted agility with powerbot on my 5000 hour osrs main until I was banned perm. Never looked back since. Made at least 2000$ selling my gold on osrs though so there's that.

Feels weird being nostalgic about playing osrs lol but that's where I'm at now. Having a falling out with an egirl I spent a lot of time with on osrs last summer motivated me to get Veeky Forums and throw all that shit away. Its cancer to the proper development of young people if you play it too much.

and by the way, if its anything over 2-4h a week pking or something then its too much scape. Go outside and live. I'm glad I did.

>tfw that game has ruined my brother's life since he helped test the beta

Glad you got out

any people from fit add me "Im Rich uMad" I'm a skiller with like 5 99s (OSRS) I'm always in Zezima's cc have been in there for like 8 years+

90% of people I know have played RuneScape at some point of their lives. Doesn't matter for years or for one month, but they have.
It was an easy accessible game that was somewhat attracting.

sounds like a big ass cope and you're in denial. If you have it in your mind after that long it means you desire to start playing again and some time down the road i know you will. There is nothing wrong with that, i plan to become a gaming addict once im retired and old.

>Having a falling out with an egirl
Never understood how people do this, altough one of my friends have found his now to be 3 years girlfriend online. They are still together and see each other 2-3 times a year

>playing fagscape
>dude named 765 deadlift at ge
>start talking to him about lifts
>was playing because he snapped his shit up mildly
>commence fucking around daily on runescape with him
>constantly messing with people at ge and banks, pking, RP faggotry
>years of this
>inevitably both of us play less and less
>last time I see him I let him borrow my tassys and he logs
>im salty as fuck, quit playing
>ff one year
>playing again, he logs in
>says he got hacked and lost everything
>snapped his shit up again
>right when florida was getting hit by that storm last year
>he couldn't evacuate because of his back and no gas at gas stations
>wouldn't talk about anything except how dead he was
>couldn't convince him to try harder to evacuate
>nope
>never logged in after the day of the storm

RIP 765/I EAT CHEEKS, you swole sexy idiot.

wowee a scamming cunt died irl lols karma sucks

Every rs scammer fakes their death tard

It's a game about cosplaying catgirls and jerking off over dps numbers. Everyone is either a trap, a fujo or something in between. I'm exaggerating but the number of mental disorders compared to normal games is impressive.

>Tfw I spent my time scamming kids to give me all their hard-earned shit when I was 11 years old

literally fishing in barbs village right now

>squatting on your toes

I would say yes. I remember being in junior high during 2003-2005. I set goals for myself and it was seriously a good feeling after I've completed them. I still remember getting through Monkey Madness, Legend's Quest, and Desert Treasure. Those were good feelings. It absolutely did something for me about teaching myself to set goals and never giving up.

Pic related

But I love doing quests. I got a quest cape and to me it's the only fun activity besides slayer

LOL fellow Zezima CC user reporting in.

>tfw cc royalty

I would say people who play MMOs are more likely to visit Veeky Forums for whatever reason, not necessarily fitness specifically.

Add me up : Wheens

It's the #grind

This.

I still play, but not as much as before.

youtu.be/cLYrFR9RT_U
10 years since this video! I was a fatty who played wow for 24/7 when i was 15-17, grades went to shit, no gf, virgin until 20. Now im working in a law firm, got fit and no more virgin

I still play osrs. I honestly think I love the gym and mmos for the same reason: I love doing the same shit over and over and seeing my numbers go up.

...

...

...

this

It's funny because I have a bodybuilder friend who's been playing Runescape for ages, like for more than 15 years now.

And he's literally a full-time bodybuilder going to competitions and shit.

lmao cc royalty in this bitch

>all faggots cleared :^)

where mah MAPLERS at

>one of my friends have found his now to be 3 years girlfriend online. They are still together and see each other 2-3 times a year
I met my gf on /d/. Now we live together and recently celebrated our 7 year anniversary.
She also thinks i'm dumb for still enjoying runescape

No one in fl died in that storm

I think it's more that literally everyone of a age played Runescape in middle school.

gotta grind rs and real life

...

i regret not getting into MMOs, they seem cool. especially vanilla WoW, every talks about it with such fondness.
I like the idea of a game also being a social hub. Weird how we've now progressed to these 'battleroyale' games instead where it's you vs. 100 other hostile solo players. It seems really backwards in the social aspect.

My main got hacked (shared with a friend and he became sketchy and sold it for drugs, not friends anymore).

I really want to play again, but it would suck to start from 0 after having so much progress. Any advice? Should I do it?

If you guys want a comfy grindfest with ships and shit, look in to Uncharted Waters Online.

Can I have some coins peep3000
