This never made sense to me. I dont get how kid gohan could go ssj2 wirh only the dead of droid 16 when future fohan witnessed all hos family and friends being killed, and he never surpassed 1.

Also not to mention he trained all day long unlike kid gohan and he went through more stressful battles than him.

The thing with 16...did you ever notice how much like piccolo he looked while on the ground? If piccolo had died after getting on goku's ass for not only helping cell by giving him a senzu bean but also sitting back and smiling as he got his shit slapped...it would have destroyed goku's popularity.
BUT toriyama and the editor rethought it(even though it made perfect sense) and redid it.

He definitely did, he was the only Super Saiyan left.

user you forget that Gohan was training with his dad intensely for an entire year and within that year he unlocked SS2 in the hyperbolic time chamber.
Future Gohan essentually didnt have anyone really, but that's just bad writing since goku could have easily communicated to him through king Kai or something.

I would say although he trained as often as he could, he didn't have any sparring partners anymore and he's known for severely doubting his abilities, so without an outside influence to reassure him he was really all alone on the lonely mountain of Super Saiyan plateau.

There are many legitimate (albeit unexplained) reasons why he couldn't attain Super Saiyan 2. He would be living in a constant state of fear like the rest of humanity, his spirit is severely weakened because he no longer has companionship and has to fight alone, he couldn't fully recover in between battles because of the constant threat of android attacks and his unwillingness to allow them to hurt the innocent wiithout him trying to intervene.
