It's not diminishing returns, there's no return at all past a point. You're just using protein for energy as you would fat or carbs

Basically you just have to get 0.73g protein per lb of lean bodyweight you have.
So 1g/lb is a good rule of thumb to be safe. If you are going for 1.5g and can hit it... good for you, but it's probably not helping much other than providing more calories.

This is only like .7g per lb, which is fucking nothing. The consensus used to be 1g per lb. There are still many sources out there that will say that, so who the fuck to believe
