Tendons take a long fucking time to recover because they are incredibly poorly circulated.
If you periodically force a decent amount of blood into the area in such a way that you do not cause further damage you speed up the rate at which the connective tissue recovers. Theoretically if done regularly this process could cause the connective tissue to hypertrophy and become further resistant to tendinitis.
At least that's the theory, I do it because I remember seeing a video of Dave Tate recommending it and it seems to keep the tricep tendinitis away for me.
