So I started a fast on Saturday which I broke Tuesday evening. Have been eating keto since then and continued fasting again this evening. Will the next 48 Hours be easier than the first 48 hours of the first fast?

I've been doing 36s & 48s multiple times a week for the last while & getting good results. Thinking of doing my first extended fast for the next nine days, leading up to my birthday (probably wouldn't go the full length, just until my abs are well defined). Would also be a good opportunity to see how many lifting sessions I can actually do without eating, before performance trails off (current record is two, with no obvious indication that I couldn't have kept going).

Depending on how quickly it progresses I might sprinkle a few low-carb meals in there as well, break it up into back to back 72s, because I do wanna keep hitting the gym regularly.

Traditionally, plant psychedelics were done in a fasted state because they're far more potent that way (and because not eating for several days beforehand encourages a person to get into a reverent mindset).

I'd be wary about taking any chemicals like MDMA, especially if you're dry fasting.

What about marijuana?

Haven't tried it fasted myself...I imagine it would be somewhat stronger but more or less safe. As for the experience, I'd be curious to find out if it would make fasting easier (greater awareness of bodily processes, ability to step back & objectively examine food addictions that may be present) or harder (the munchies)

First time I fasted, I lasted 3 days, was planning to go 10 days (or 7 at least).

I gotta admit though that I still think I could have lasted longer if I didn't have to drink this god damned "snake juice". It tastes like fucking seawater, and the fact that I'm supposed to drink an entire liter of this stuff a day and not drink more pure water afterwards made it worse, and it didn't even make my headaches go away the first two days.

1 hour or so away from first 72 hours. I'm not hungry but I haven't been drinking "snake juice." Just a little salt water.

The headaches were probably your body trying to get into ketosis and your blood sugar crashing. I only drink a litter of snake juice a day and fresh water as needed. Some days I'll go 2:1 ratio of fresh water to snake juice. But that's only on sauna days.

Can I get a BF% estimate? I've probably lost close to 80lbs since my heaviest (not through fasting) and just did a quick 3.5day water fast. Am I lean enough to switch over to OMAD?

Use common sense man. You don't have to fast 40 days straight. If you can then good on you but you'll most likely be doing on and off fasts. It's still effective obviously, as long as our don't binge on the days you eat

The science seems sound and logical.

1. Stop eating. Drink lots of water to compensate.
2. You'll feel like crap for two or three days as you run out of glucose and swap to using fat for calories.
3. Take salt and potassium supplements to prevent cramps and keep your body functioning. Take a multivitamin for the same reason.
4. When you reach your goal weight, or when the hunger returns after the initial period, eat again.

Most people don't get past step 2 which is why they're scared of fasting. Remember that early man didn't have any way to store food, and needed to be able to survive for multiple days with enough energy to search for a meal. You won't waste away unless you run out of a key nutrient or run too low on fat.

So I started the fast sometime in January. I was in the 220s and I weighed in at 196lbs today. I've been fasting on and off which is why it hasn't been faster but it's easier to fast for longer. I'm on day 4 of at least 7. Here's a week or so progress pic. My main focus is losing the love handles and I notice them getting smaller every day. Obviously the progress shown on this pic is slight and hardly noticeable but it's there. 6'0 btw

Is it alright if I start working out as well as start fasting, or should I work out for a few weeks first to get myself used to it, and then start fasting later after the fact?

As a beginner it's perfectly fine. Your first few months working out will mostly be learning technique and not so much building muscle so the fasting shouldn't have too much of an effect. Just take it slow and know your limits.
