And ruin my gains?

have fun snapping your shit up doing anything more than some light dynamic stretches pre-workout
stretching after is fine

Stretching is a meme, just like warming up

lolno

i always stretch before hand and have no problems

Dynamic stretching not static stretching. These responses in this thread make it easier to understand why there are so many threads about people snapping their shit up

>yeah baby I got something stretching right now......

>I run through traffic and haven't gotten killed yet
Your anecdote means nothing

I thought that elbow was a really saggy boob

fair enough but i've been doing this for years
i static stretch

fucking retard

you stretch after workout, not before

static stretches are a really really bad idea before heavy workouts. They leave your muscles in a state that they aren't used to and greatly increase the risks of injuries.
Of course you can do light stretches or dynamic ones, but leave the static ones for your offdays/postworkout.

then why do i always professional athletes stretching before workouts/games?

I don't know but there seems to be a shit ton of injuries these days compared to back in the day when they'd do some light calisthenics and drink a beer and eat a hot dog before a baseball game.

He means heavy lifting. Stretching before heavy lifting is a bad idea. Stretching before heavy cardio is not a bad idea.

fuck i did not know this, but i did a deadlift session today without stretching beforehand and it felt better than i have in ages
thanks lads you might have just saved me from some sort of injury

Warning up isn't a meme
Stretching before working out is

They don't. They perform dynamic stretches

t. "Professional" (I make like 30k/year in government grants and small sponsorships and compete for my country) athlete

Why would stretching before lead to injury exactly?

>worldclass athlete stretching his shit out before making some worldclass lifts

You guys haven't seen Bladerunner 2049 yet? Need to get on it asap, it's like "Drive" but set in the future.

9/10 would bang.

>hopes she does dudes under 5' 10".....

I never stretch.

Static-stretching is shown to decrease blood flow to muscle and joints. Do dynamic stretching for warm-up only.

Shown by what? Show me the study.

>ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3273886/

>Unfortunately, however, static stretching as part of a warm-up immediately prior to exercise has been shown detrimental to dynamometer-measured muscle strength19–29 and performance in running and jumping.30–39 The loss of strength resulting from acute static stretching has been termed, “stretch-induced strength loss.”3 The specific causes for this type of stretch induced loss in strength is not clear; some suggest neural factors,31,40 while others suggest mechanical factors.19,23 Furthermore, the strength loss may be related to the length of the muscle at the time of testing23 or the duration of the stretch.25 Interestingly, a maximal contraction of the muscle being stretched before static stretching may decrease stretch-induced strength loss.41

I have not heard anyone recommend static stretching in years. Any sports team you see these days does dynamic stretch warm-ups only: from kids to pros.

I thought her arm was a huge sagging titty from the thumbnail

source? Ik who she is but where is the scene from?

What am I even reading? I don't understand, I was injured numerous times before stretching before all my workouts, with static, dynamic, and warming up involved. After properly stretching with dynamic and static stretches that I received after months of physical therapy (and multiple cortozone shots), I'm finally able to lift. I started doing some major static stretching before my max sets on bench and my bench has only gone up after weeks of stalling hard.

Most of the suggestions I'm reading from BU.edu suggests actual cardio and running to warm up instead of quick dynamic stretches. So stretching real fast is bad, but running half a mile before benching won't decrease performance? What the fuck?

Shit, I can't even squat with great form, especially not atg, without stretching and doing hip warm ups first. After those, I still need to take an empty bar and hold atg a few times for a good 15 seconds (literally stretching with a squat) if I want to go deep or I'll fuck my hip up again when I go heavy.

Idk :/
