I've never wanted to be a doctor (of medicine) just because I have heard of shitty hours and not really the people person that doctors seem to be. I have a PhD in EE (photonics/EM/laser specialty) and work in govt lab for the job security and stable work hours. I think when I'm older academia would be chill, but govt lab work is comfy 40 hr weeks and plenty of time to do whatever I want outside of work

i would put tenured professors towards the top of B tier. also, i definitely think there's a power gap between B and C, like you said. B and north, you're in a respectable, well-paying career with upward mobility and the (hopefully) financial stability to live on your own terms or to raise a family.
