you need to start reaching out to acquaintances to play
then encourage your friends and acquaintances to find players
add a contact for those players too
perhaps start a facebook group (this is risky because if there are shitheads you don't want to play with unless completely desperate, they always reply)

i did this for pickup soccer, made lots of networking with people - outside of soccer we never socialized if they were not already friend of a friend other than saying whats up if you're introverted and worried about that

Competing in sports all through high school and college now. Compete in powerlifting now because it doesn't require tons of skill and it's something I can do on my own, be competitive at, and make friends doing.

I'm spending this year getting stronger before playing rugby league.

I'm 6'0", 110kg and played prop forward. I can squat 220kg, bench 120kg, deadlift 240kg and press 90kg. I'd like to get up to a 270kg squat, 160kg bench, 300kg deadlift and 120kg press this year before trying out for a league team next year. Rugby league is a very easy sport to play (played it for four years as a kid) and most professional rugby league players in Australia are slack cunts and generally unprofessional.
