You can do those starting from your knees. The weight is somewhat distributed along your shins. This is too much friction and stress on the knees wtf.

It's not the knee support. It's the amount of shearing forces placed on the knee to support your entire bodyweight.

Squatting isn't as bad even with snapcity form because part of the weight is supported by your back and spinal erevtors.

But here it's just your shins bracing against the pads for the entire duration of the rep.
