3 sets/10 reps vs 6reps/5 sets

3 sets/10 reps vs 6reps/5 sets

Same weight and volume but which one is better?

depends, if youre going for aesthetics brah go for the first option. If u want to get stronger, the 2nd option is better.

3*10 obviously

The only reason we lower the amount of reps is to increase the weight used, if u use the same weight and lower the reps you're just making the exercice easier, reduce the time under tension for 0 benefit

>time under tension meme

Your reps will be higher quality with the 6x5 than the 3x10

Not a meme when it comes to hypertrophy bruv

>
did not read "same weight" lol this question is fucking retarded. if you can do 10 reps, only doing 5 is just not trying. the sets should always be intense, despite the number of reps

Yes it is. You force adaptation through stimulation. You get a fucking pump with time under tension. You don't actually grow the muscles. It's stupid roidhead broscience and it along with your inability to eat are why you can bench 3 plates.

If you can pump out 10 reps with a certain amount of weight going back to 6 reps is doing nothing for your workout.

You should lift as much reps as you can with as much weight as you can.

Again, if you can already do 10 reps with a certain amount of weight and you go back to 6 reps with the same weight, you're not getting stronger.

Funnily enough, the strongest people in the world all train with the vast majority of their sets being significantly below max effort.

Ever heard of metabolic stress or muscle damage?

heavier weight for less reps is always better

fuck that fluff and pump 10 rep shit

Funnily enough, you are not yet even close to being the strongest people in the world.

If you are below max effort, you are at 12 year old girl effort.

>that doesn't happen at a superior level when you get higher quality repetitions where you can control the weight better

you're wrong you know

45 seconds have been oproven my multiple peer reviewed studies to be the optimal time under tension range for hypertrophy

but why do i waste my time with one lol HARDCORELIFTER SQAT AND DEADLIFT FOR REAL ?MEN XD

3 sets and 10 reps is obviously better if it's done with the same weight.
More concentrated work is always better.
Are you even reaching anywhere close to muscular failure in the 5x6 scheme if you can do 3x10 with the same weight?

Cite literally any of your studies.

> Be Eddie Hall
> Deadlift 135 lbs for 20 reps for a year straight.
> Deadlift 135 lbs for 100 reps the next year.
> Go to competition
> Suprise the world by by deadlifting 1100 lbs.

Gee user you found out their dirty little secret. Nobody gets stronger from training at high intensity all you need to do is never give any max effort at all during your training sessions and then max out ' just this once masterĀ© '

That's not how they train all the time though, they build a muscular frame with trianing close to failure.
The "submax" work they do is basically technique work, not work that actually makes you grow.

>2018
>Not doing RIR based training.

its how well your body responds to different rep ranges

At the same weight 3*10 would be better as doing longer sets would stress your muscles more. But the whole point of doing lower reps is that you can work with a higher weight so doing 5*6 when you can do 3*10 with the same weight would just be retarded.

who cares just do the work and switch it up now and then jesus

3x10, because the relative intensity is much higher, 5x6 with weight you can do for 3x10 almost doesn't qualify as working sets

now if you did 5x6 with higher weights at the same relative intensity, that would be 5 hard sets vs 3 hard sets, so that one would probably be more of a stimulus

there's a huge difference between doing 3s at 80% and 2s at 85% and doing 5x6 with something you could do for 3x10

triples at 80% and doubles at 85% are valuable technique practice, and when done for multiple sets let you accumulate quite a bit of volume

5x6 with probably like 70% 1rm is a waste of time
