I threw out my computer a few days ago (writing on my phone while taking a shit) Games and brainless surfing are a fucking cancer that will fuck your brain up. I was o autopilot for years. Work, gym and then come home and waste my time in front of the computer. No. The only time I ever play anything is on my 4yo's Switch. I won it in a contest and he was a little too young for it. I bought minecraft for him but it turned out to be too advanced for him to play so I played it in bed with him while he fell asleep for a few weeks until we beat the game. I bought the Zelda game after that and I started it out but have lacked the drive to move the character out of the little cave that he starts off in so I have just made excuses to my kid why we couldn't play and read books or put in movies instead... I can't remember ever getting enjoyment out of video games after losing my virginity.

Not very much at the moment. Have been playing Warband and CK2 for ages. Lost interest in vidya long ago and now running them once a week of borderom.

I used to as a kid and teenager, I was obsessed with video games, I told to myself I will always play even in 40s and 50s because (at the time) games were so engaging, I used to think how or why people even have other hobies when video games are so more interesting than anything.

Anyway, I dont know when, maybe in college I just didnt have time because of studies and then by accident I discovered books (like modern scifi, none of that outdated azimov stuff, action, thrillers), suddenly games were not so interesting anymore. One would spend hours playing just to get small bit of story, while books were just pure story telling.
After reading for a while I discovered that books is very much like a real world, at first I liked immersing myself in a story but after that I wanted a real world, interact with real people and experience real things.
Nowadays I still read a lot. But I know now that entertainment is just that, and shouldnt be abused. I realize that like portrayed in books, there are problems in the world, and I cannot ignore them, I simply cant afford it and have to work to hard do my bit to solve them. Its what I always wanted and games and other entertaiment were just a substitute for that.

There's nothing wrong with spending your free time doing something you enjoy. It sounds like you have a fairly well rounded lifestyle, so spend your free time however you want. if you don't like playing video games find something else to do with your free time and just do it. Eg reading, playing guitar, etc

Mostly spend time outdoors. Twice a week ihang out with friends. At home I'll normally read or watch a film. Videogames are lower value than films for sure, but the fact of the matter is that I simply can't be bothered anymore. At absolute best they pass an hour quickly, but j wouldn't call them fun anymore and have no other value.
