Important Reminder that if you don't sleep at least 8 hours, you're a fraud

Sleep 8-9 hours--- If you don't, then don't bother to lift and do exercises and go wank to some porn.

P-R-I-O-R-I-T-I-E-S-. Sleep is the most important thing for everything, especially for lifting and physical health.

my dad is 70 years old always slept between 5-6 hours and NOW he sleeps 4-5 im like wtf, he still has plenty energy and do his stuff without problems meanwhile i need 7-8 hours of sleep otherwise i will feel like shit

AM i the soyboy ?

I've noticed older guys sleep less, I think it is just kind of natural. Sleep is a highly personal thing, I know people who get by with 4 hours a night and people who feel like absolute shit if the get anything under 7-8 hours a night. Im the latter, and you probably are too.

It seems to me as you get older, you need less sleep overall. I wouldn't worry about it.

And waste 33+% of my life sleeping instead of getting rich, socializing, working, etc.?

Nah

Attached: on.jpg (850x400, 60K)

anyways he told me since hes pretty young he used to sleep between 5 and 6 hours, also at 70 he looks like 60 so idk, i think the sleep thingy is different on each people as well

You don't waste your time, you invest it wisely.

For those who sleep less as they grow older, I don't know what to say to you, I've never heard of this theory.

nigga 8 hours? honestly, if you can't function off of 6, as in bed by midnight and up again at 6 am, ur a fucking loser

I sleep 6 hours and feel fine. There is no hard and fast rules to sleep.

Women like money and muscles user. You need to balance the two, and if you're sleeping 8-9 hours a night, you're not making enough money.

>if you don't sleep at least 8 hours, you're a fraud
if you dont sleep at least 8 hours you're on steroids?

I sleep between 5 & 5.5 hrs/night. Rarely do I sleep longer, unless I've had w crazy fucking day before...this has been my norm for about 13 years, & I am in stellar condition.

>sleep for 8 hours
>spend 2 hours socializing, feeling great and energized
>sleep for 4 hours
>spend 6 hours socializing, feeling extremely drowsy and making people think you have autism
getting good sleep is an investment towards pretty much every single aspect of your life. less sleep means less brain power, less energy, etc

there are of course people who can feel just fine on less than 8 hours and i dont think theres much wrong with that, but willingly cucking yourself from the sleep you need is a shit mentality

is this for real? name on the left?

Ernestine Shepherd

>she gets up at 2:30am

>b-but-muh sleep

according to internet a couple of pouch egg is merely 150 cals and a shitload of protein

if i dont have cholesterlo issue, any problem eating a couple of eggs every other day for easy proteins?

you do realize that different people require different amounts of sleep, right you retard? yeah 8 hours is an average, but some people need 10 hours of sleep to feel rested throughout the day, some people only need 6 or 7. i can go to bed at 11:30 PM and wake up on my own no alarm at 6:30 AM every morning, can't get back to sleep, and if i try to force myself to sleep more than ~7 hours or so i literally feel sick and dizzy when i wake up

you lift too?

Im lucky to do 8 and feel rested if I jerk it im looking at 9.5

shes hot

nutrition is a huge part in this, when I eat at a deficit/ do fasts I sleep around 5-6 hours a day.
when I do just over maintenance I sleep around 7 hours and before I got fit I needed more than 9 hours a night.
t.12% bodyfat

Holy shit. If you currently sleep 2 hours a night and you follow these instructions you can create time.

you suck if you need 7 hours. Arnold in his prime used to do real estate investing, body-build for 5 hours, do construction, go to college, and take acting classes at the same time and he slept 6 hours max he said.

enjoy your shitty life

Only faggots with no life can sleep 7-10 hours.

I sleep 5 and have god-tier time and gains.

>sleeping for over 6 hours a day
What a waste

Attached: 1517442293675.gif (200x200, 2M)

Sleep is important

The amount of sleep you need is personal to the individual

Anyone who debates otherwise is being selfish and assuming the rest of the world operates on their circadian rhythm

What if I'm going to just be a neet anyway. Do I really need that extra 1.5 months?

>if you need 2 hands to count the hours you sleep you're wasting your time
My grandad always says this

more NEET time then

begone tankie.

Some people have a gene where they sleep faster. So they can sleep less.

Most people don't have this gene

he literally got asked by Joe Weider to come to California, got money and all kinds of help from him just to bodybuild and promote Weider's magazines and shit

Guys, can you please help me? For about 3 weeks I've been having broken sleep. I'll sleep for about 3-4 hours and then I'm up. I absolutely hate this and I've tried half a sleeping pill, melatonin, nothing seems to work and it's terrible. I'm also eating at a calorie deficit, could that be the cause as well?

Attached: wakeupeveryday.jpg (720x647, 40K)

Idk, my experience shows that sleep irregularities start to show when I have mental issues. Is something bothering you? Job? Life? >tfwnogf?

I have a myriad of mental issues. I let things get to me, I often allow rage to consume me and formulate thoughts and stress and all that.
People have told me, "don't stress about the small things" or "don't let things like that get to you" and it pisses me off. If it's that easy to just "don't let" then I'd turn it off like a switch. I don't know how to combat this right now but I really want sleep.

I only require about 4-6 hours to feel perfect. But I blast and cruise steroids so that probably helps.

for me it doesn't really matter if it's 5 or 8 hours per night as long as I go to bed and wake up on exact same time each day
4 or 6 or 8 hours of sleep, somehow I end up being productive for roughly the same amount of time during the day
but if my sleep pattern becomes irregular I can't focus on anything and waste time

Idk, the whole "don't get mad" might be the wrong approach. More like, try to find out WHY you're getting mad. And no, you're not getting mad because someone just did something that makes you angry. Think about the cliché of the toilet seat: women aren't mad that you left the toilet seat up, they're mad because you forgot their anniversary, even if they themselves don't consciously know this.

Idk man, start reading some Jung. Chances are there's some unconscious shit going on. Also don't take any drugs (like sleeping pills), they only make things worse in the long run.

Retarded question but I was pondering this lately, in terms of general health, and then in terms of gains which is most important?

Sleep
Hydration
Diet
Exercise

Mostly interested in hearing ppls opinions on if they could choose between getting enough sleep but inadequate hydration vs not sleeping enough but being well hydrated which would you choose?

General Health:
hydration > exercise > diet > sleep

Gains:
diet > exercise > sleep > hydration

>Gains
>diet being more important than excersise for gains

do a perfect diet with no excersise and see how you go

do a perfect lifting routine with no mind of what you eat and then see

Interesting, you think exercise is vital for good health and longevity? I mean in today's world filled with junk food and generally unhealthy lifestyle, no doubt it is. But theoretically if you ate a great diet, slept a lot and were well hydrated I'd think biologically exercise wouldn't do much in terms of General health/life expectancy.

Like how up until 100 years ago it was common knowledge that the more hard work you did the shorter you'd live, and lavish sedentary lifestyle was healthy.(Again before modern junk food)

>the more hard work you did the shorter you'd live
that stays true, if hard work is doing short burst of extreme exertion, without gradual overload in a way that strains both the muscles and bones then yes, that is bad for you

but a detailed progressive overload done with correct technique and strecthing is 100% superior to sedentarism. always

Guys I'm literally an insomniac and idk what to do. I feel myself stay awake the whole night and it's definitely having an effect on my day to day routine. I feel tired during the day but as soon as I go to bed it all just goes away

If you're the super-productive, no-sleep type, look into Daily Undulating Periodization, particularly as Mike Zourdos approaches it, and learn about sleep cycles.

When you structure a good DUP cycle you focus more on volume than damage. Usually you leave high-intensity, AMRAP session to the end of the week (or cycle) and you're relatively undamaged during the previous ones, which means less recovery time. Then you learn about sleep cycles, about melatonin, and you create a good nightly routine. Get some fast-digesting protein right before because the first REM cycle will be the most important, and get healthy saturated fats like coconut oil because it will help with hormonal production. Also look into how to increase serotonin production, because the sleep hormone is made from it in your brain.

I used to sleep 7 - 9 hours, now I sleep either 4 and a half or 6 hours (3 - 4 REM cycles) and never a minute past that, except during once-a-week high intensity day. I set the alarm to wake me up during light sleep phase, and wake I up with tons of energy and my gains have been consistent. I also do a blood test every six months, and my testosterone levels are high.

Fuck oversleeping for recovery. For some of us Veeky Forums is just one aspect of our lives, we have other shit we want to get good at as well.

Attached: JCDenton2.png (432x454, 268K)

I had the exact same problem and 2mg melatonin 30 mins before bed fixed it.

No you idiot, but you can exercise all you want if you are on 1500 kcals and 20g protein you'll never develop muscles. Hences, diet is "more important".

Yes, sedentary lifestyle is worse than smoking.

>ut you can exercise all you want if you are on 1500 kcals and 20g protein you'll never develop muscles. Hences, diet is "more important".
>
>Yes, sedentary lifestyle is worse than smoking.
hahah, look at people who excersise but pay literally no attention to diet

Sleep > Diet > Hydration > Exercise

Okay smartass, I'll bite. The original question said asked about the relations in terms of general health and gains, so it had 2 viewpoints.

From a general health viewpoint, exercising a lot without paying attention to diet is not necessarily bad. In fact, it's what we've been doing for hundreds of thousand years. But don't expect to put on muscle gains whilst you're doing that.

To be a "fit" and "healthy" person in today's world no doubt exercise is important. But is it a biological necessity for longevity in humans the same way sleep and hydration is?

For overall health id say Sleep=Hydration>Diet>Exercise

I have this really weird sleep routine - I sleep 9 hours everyday, but divided in 3 sessions. I usually sleep from 2-5 AM, 1-4 PM and 8-11 PM.

Does this kind of sleeping pattern affect my gains?

If I sleep more than 7 I feel groggy and comatose all day every day

sounds retarded but idk

Do you work or neet ?

Lifting at all > Diet > Sleep > Lifting with an ideal routine = Hydration

thats child stuff

better thing to do is to hydrate yourself as you lift WHILE being asleep

user, I get it.

I can't sleep more than 6 hours, and I am fine energy wise. Any more than that and I start to get headaches

How do I get rid of eye bags, Veeky Forums? I get 7-8 hours of sleep every day, I don't think that's the issue. Do I need to start hitting cardio harder or some shit?

Does marijuana affect deep sleep?

you dont, they look a bit puffier when you get up or sleep little, but are mostly genetic

you can put ice on them to make them go away faster in the morning

or you can use makeup, that's literally about it

yeah cause a bag of steroids sure is a good referente in this subject

chamomile my dude. drink a cup an hour before bed and turn all your screens off. Turn off your wifi and phone and just chill for an hour. Drink another cup right before bed. I suffered through the same.

the doctor prescribe dme a lot of melatonin and it works

try 3 melatonin pills and see how it goes. dont worry you literally cannot od on melatonin

Uni student, I only have classes in the morning.

Fake news bruh

ive been having this problem getting up. i usually sleep till like 11am after waking up at 6. i wanted to try waking at 4 30 and going to bed at 11/12. but waking up is so fucking hard. what do i do. am i being lazy?

there's no way she's 80

>hibernate for 3 months
>I don't have to sleep for the rest of the year

>stop being such a faggot
My grandad always said this. RIP

please only take melatonin if you are deficient in it. It has addictive qualities and will shit up your sleep if you become addicted and need to come down. stay smart my dude

Attached: 1472705074506.png (500x500, 299K)

>tfw my parents take it every night
>one night I was home and had a cold, they gave me a pill because "falling asleep with a cold is hard"
Did not take that shit
What the fuck is wrong with people

Just never stop taking it lmao. It has 0 negative effects

>Don't sleep too much. Life is all about hard work goy! Work as much overtime as possible so you can purchase all those high-end consumer products!

I can’t operate if I sleep less than 8 hours, it’s a pain in the ass.
I hate when hungover coworkers brag about how they only got 3 hours sleep last night

It’s in your mind, your just so used to it that it’s hard. If you’re getting 8 hours sleep and you’re still tired just force yourself to get up and go straight for a cool shower

I totally agree OP. But as a career firefighter who works 24 hour shifts my sleep is going to be dog shit every third day. That being said I’ve squatted 500, deadlifted 550 and benched 330. So sleep isn’t necessary for progress. But who knows where I’d be if I did get to sleep well every night.

Reading this while i cant fucking sleep, don’t know what to do and am sad cause im losing my gains.

Can i count in falling asleep ? If not i might just as well sleep half a day.

Basically this
>be more productive!

I used to do 3 hours of sleep one a week when at university. Would wake up not even slightly tired and would be good for the whole day.

Don't peddle pseudoscience, there's nothing wrong with taking melatonin as long as you dose it appropriately.

Fukkin commie bastard

Still warms up with your 1RM on every lift and accomplished more than you ever will.

This.

This bollocks. The woman on the right is a stock photo. That's how much research went into this shit.

Prime sleep is either
>4.5 hours
>6 hours
>7.5 hours
>9 hours

This lets you wake up between REM cycles so you don't wake up tired and groggy

>sleeping for over 5 hours a day

Its like you dont even want to make it

hydration>sleep>diet>excercise

this is the correct order.
if you don't drink water you'll die, if you dont sleep you'll die if you dont eat you'll die if you dont excercise you won't really be living

>every fucking step of his nazi life

Attached: 1520481028361.gif (326x268, 1.38M)

>implying i am capable of sleeping continuously
I wake up often. It sucks
